I had an account in Manalapan for 30 years. I moved to Florida. After countless calls to customer service trying to correct and pay a final bill.(last one conveniently hung up on me after 20 minutes of not answering any questions.)- I was told there are no re-percussions to deal with them once you disconnect service even if their billing is incorrect and you are moving away. Several months prior I returned 2 of 4 cable boxes. They took away my triple play discount. I called multiple times during Covid and sometimes wait times over 4 hrs. I brought up incorrect billing each time. Nothing was addressed. No credits. I asked for a supervisor or a department that perhaps would listen to my complaint of improper billing. There is no mechanism to even have a true conversation with anyone that actually interacts with you. At this time I would like to pay my bill but on principle I will probably see them in court. Incidentally, they also stuck on additional unauthorized sport channels and crazy charges. Once you disconnect you can"t even go online. Thank god I have everything documented. Gary N. Spent almost 3 hours this morning trying to cancel my Optimum service. Service can only be canceled via phone call. They disconnected me 4 times. When I finally got through, the rep. stated they would have to transfer me to retention dept. ...then I was disconnected again (retention wasn't open, yet even though they were suppose to be)! An hour later, when I finally got through, retention stated that a supervisor would have to finalize the cancellation. I was placed on hold for another 20 minutes until the same rep. returned to tell me that a supervisor doesn't require finalizing the cancellation. I was then told that Cablevision does not pro-rate the billing, so even though I'm canceling 3 days into a new billing cycle, I will owe them a fill month's bill! What a horrible company! Just had optimum installed, must say the technology is very good. The organization however, is incapable of helping with anything out of the norm. We have had it for 4 days. The installer said that the DVR will work after an hour or two after I signed for the installation. It never worked. It still doesn't work 4 days later. First call to customer service, polite fellow tried a few things no help. Next day call to customer service, same thing nice fellow can't help. Supervisor would not come to phone because, I was told He couldn't help. Customer service created an "escalation ticket" for another department that was to be corrected within 4 to 72 hours. A technician of sorts said he sees the problem and it would be corrected the next day. Nothing corrected. The next day, redialed the incoming call number and a lady answered but would not let me speak with the tech who said it would be corrected. She told me i can't speak with them even though the fix is long overdue. I have to wait until it is resolved by tech staff, they will advise her and she will call me. Visited Freehold office, nice gentleman couldn't help. Sent some e-mails on my behalf be got no response. At least he called me to tell me he tried. I'll give it another couple of days before I dump them. Never saw a company with so many employees without the authority or desire to close an issue. They just cannot make the DVR work as of day 4. read more

They cannot keep up with demand in my neighborhood. 30 customers struggling to work from home. Techs have been to almost all homes in development. Cannot do anything, it's capacity. They kept on charging me, even though I had switched phone providers. They claimed that was since I hadn't notified them. They deactivated my number though, and it took me a few days (!) to get it back up, so I can port my number to the new provider. Very hard to reach them. It can literally take a few days. I also tried reaching them via chat on their site. It took over an hour, and in the end, all the rep had to offer was a phone number to call. I did call, and it turned out to be a non working number. I spoke to someone on the phone and he told me he'll take some of the charges off (for the service which I didn't receive). However, I got a bill in the mail for the rest. Again, impossible to reach anyone to discuss. Also, I lodged a complaint with the FCC, and (finally) a supervisor called me to address. He called when I wasn't home, and left me a message with a phone number. Guess what happened when I tried calling that number... (I originally signed up with them because they had a good offer, however once I made changes to my plan, they refused to let me go back to the original plan, and I was stuck with a more expensive plan.) I did get an automated message when I called them that I owed them over $200 (somehow, they do manage to reach you when it comes to demanding your money), even though I paid my bill every month. There was some vague mention of unreturned equipment. They never asked me to return the equipment, just right away, they demand money. Is Verizon better? Not much, but still, they are more decent than this. read more

Noticed that they are now charging an Network Enhancement fee for my internet. This fee is to upgrade their infrastructure. Definitely a scam and shady practice by Cablevision/Optimum online as this should be incorporated into the monthly service plan and not as an additional fee. read more

Optimum is the absolute worst in customer service. They make it almost impossible to speak to an actual service representative. There is not even an option to speak to a live person. They also impose a $10 charge to you if you speak to them in order to pay your bill. $10. Ridiculous. Also, their new mobile service, what they do not tell you in the ads is that you have to "qualify" in order to get their $20 service even if you are an Optimum customer. And you also have to be a customer for at least a year before you can get mobile service. They also tack on charges and inflate your bill so the price you originally agree to is never the price you actually end up being billed for. read more

I would like to give them a zero star but that is not an option. Their customer service is non-existent, they sneak all kinds of slim shady increases on the bill ... enhancement fee???!!! Really??!! Just a heads up people. This company is not the same one when Dolan owned it. My cost just went up 40 bucks monthly and now in Feburary they are going up another 50 bucks for the same services I had for years. Now I know how they can offer 20 bucks a month for cell service. WTF...I would not recommend this company now, in the past I loved it. Seriously my internet has been cutting out for WEEKS AND multiple times a day. My husband called last week about this said they would send someone to look at the outside part and I haven't seen anyone and I've been home sick for a whole week and I'm on hold now waiting for someone to answer their phones because of course theres "unusually high call volume" this is ridiculous and I'm more then annoyed about this. wow. Had optimum for about 17 years. Problems in past, but never like this. Internet was on/off for 10 days. After many hours on phone, driving to their store to replace my modem, still not working. Was a corroded external (locked side of house) splitter. Still got charged $80 for charge, claiming internal work was done. After 2hrs with them online, they wont provide me with the invoice for work done, still charging $80. Seriously? They are going to lose my $3000+ a year account for a service charge that was related to THEIR external hardware. Avoid at all costs. read more

I called and canceled my service with Optimum Cable on January 21,2017.I was transferred to the retention department,a supervisor was not available at the time of my call. I was transferred back to the billing department. The representative from the billing depart. took my name and cell # and said a supervisor will return my call. A rep.named Carlos called me back Jan.23rd,2017 and finally cancelled my account. Optimum is charging me for a full month of service, when I didn't use a full month of service. I don't have a problem paying for 2 days of service. Optimum did not do their part on calling me back to cancel services. The retention dept. of course wants to retain my business. I was not interested but they have on file, that I officially canceled my account on Jan.23rd, which is incorrect. I requested Optimum to do a call review to see I did call on Jan.21 to cancel my account and they declined and said they can't do that. I will pay for 2 days of service,a whole month is fraud. read more
