OPTUM - 30281 Golden Lantern, Laguna Niguel, California Dr. Parisa Mortaji - Worst Doctor Ever I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Parisa Mortaji. She did not take the time to review my chart or listen to my medical history before refusing to refill medications that had already been prescribed for my shoulder injury. I'm not someone who takes medication daily, and I've never had any issues with misuse, so I found her approach dismissive and lacking compassion. I am a 68 year old who has been healthy and cautious my whole life. When I brought up my recent kidney stone, (and showed her the stone), she didn't take my concerns seriously or even discuss it with me. Her overall demeanor came across as unprofessional and condescending. I had hoped to establish care with a new physician after moving, but after this visit, I'll be returning to my previous doctor--even if it means driving two hours. I expect a doctor to show respect, listen carefully, and treat patients as individuals. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. She saw my eyes and head from a serious surgery I had days before seeing her, and she didn't even ask questions what I had done. She approached me with a racial approach being a white person. Be careful. It is not right. Period. These trust fund babies have no right being in these professions unless it is their love for proper care. Stay away from her. read more

Optum It is the clinic where I go to my consultations every 6 months or when is required. Dr. Bilal's assistant is professional, she knows how to listen, and she answers your questions. Receptionists are friendly, have excellent costumer service, and they answer your questions too. I like coming here always!! read more

I love it here. Front desk receptionist are so helpful and professional. I never had to wait longer than 15 minutes. I like Dr. Patel, he's patient and listens to me and addressed my symptoms accordingly. If you have an appointment, you don't have to wait long. In my opinion, this facility should not welcome any patients. They very rarely answered the phone and lost my test results. This center feels more like a disorganized money-making business than a place where doctors know and care about their patients. I've decided to leave this place because I truly believe that if anything serious were to happen to my health, there's little chance they would find out about it, or they'd likely find out too late to do anything. read more

Absolute worst experience at a doctors office ever and we will never return. My mom has type one diabetes and is the most patient human I know. She is approaching 73 years old and has developed some other health problems, which means many doctor's appointments. I do my best to get her to each one and most are a pleasant experience... this place has the worst customer service beginning at the front desk. The two "ladies" are unfriendly, rude, and simply have no place "helping others." Over the phone they are just as rude. Management - please retrain and teach your employees some manners, as well as tell them to at least pretend to enjoy their job. I get zero joy having to post a negative review. I am new to Optum because my work changed their health plan, I was formally with Kaiser. I now realize that Kaiser was a luxury compared to this medical group. Like others have mentioned, you cannot speak to anyone at the office if you call, all calls go directly to a call center. I was waiting for a week for an important referral to a cardiologist only to find out they botched my referral, they had my insurance down as a PPO instead of an HMO. So my referral never even went out. Okay, mistakes can happen but there was really no sincere apology for this mistake. It's as if they just don't care. The doctor was nice enough but I absolutely felt rushed as a new patient. I get it, our medical system has its problems but this kind of service really is unacceptable. read more

I am giving my review on Dr Erin Parise and staff . My family and I have been going to Dr Parise for years and find her to be a caring and very detailed Dr. The only negatives here have been -the phone system is not great - had issue with blood test orders not being ordered - but 98% good vs 2% neg - I say it's a win . The office has a well side and sick side waiting room . Tv and plenty of hand sanitizer pumps through out berg before Covid . Now with the lock down , they won't let you in the doors without an appt . You must be masked - get your temp taken outside - answer questions - wait until your appt time in your car until your appt to ensure your and everyone working there's health - then they will call you in . It is pretty empty only you and the staff and maybe one other patient for the other Drs there . I applaud them For following all Covid precautions and doing Zoom appts when possible . Actually they most likely will close 100% again this Friday and Zoom only again . If you want a very caring Dr who listens and gets to know you this is the Dr . The staff is pretty good as well , If you Med quick check they have great Nurse Assistants and great Endrocronogist Dr Grier. read more

To management, I am a patient of Dr. Parise at the Laguna Niguel office. Dr. Parise sent a controlled substance out of state on 8/26/22 (see attached). I have been trying to get this same medication refilled since April 10, but was told that it was "illegal for providers to prescribe a controlled substance to a patient who is currently out of state." This medication was sent to the same out-of-state Walgreens Pharmacy in Maine (on Monday, 4/10/23) but was denied because Dr. Parise "does not have a license to prescribe medication out of state." It took 3 days, and several manipulative call center representatives, to learn that Dr. Parise was not only on "PTO" (as stated by Supervisor, Anna) but that she had in fact broken protocol, and the law. I've been with health care partners Cigna for 20 years. They switched to Optum and not only did I become hypertensive but I get treated like an ignoramus. It's been IMPOSSIBLE to get a cardiac stress test. When I finally do, it's 34 miles round trip. I arrive and there are no patients I can see in the hospital nor was there any medical staff. I get escorted through the maze, still no patients or staff, to a room that's dark. A gentleman comes to the door and tells me I need to wait. 10 minutes pass and he comes out and takes me to a room in the back. I asked what EXACTLY my procedure is an he explains no radio active isotope but an IV would be administered. He went on to say that the doctor won't be doing the procedure but a nurse practitioner. Needless to say, they wasted my time, I fasted for 12 hours, drove 17 miles to get there only to REFUSE a nurse. Cardiologist are a specialist doctor. My insurance pays for doctors, not nurse practitioners. Why waste my time only to have me refuse the procedure. Get it together OPTUM!!! We WILL be leaving you during open enrollment in October. I seriously can't think of any worse health care I've encountered and that includes Kaiser and Magan Clinic. read more

On May 9th, 2023 I had an appointment with Dr. Bassam Bilal at Optum in Laguna Niguel. Armando one of his assistants took my blood pressure and they sent me home with my blood pressure reading 200 over 95. Last Wednesday I stopped by the office handed a list of medication that needs to be refilled Sara took the envelope and I asked her to leave it at the doctor's desk. The Mexican girl sitting next to her interfered by saying the dr. is busy with a patient and then he has to go to lunch, I don't think he can do it today. Why are you speaking on his behalf I said just put the envelope on the desk. Late in the afternoon he called me yelling and screaming how dare I talk to his staff this way, and added we don't need patients like you. He didn't give me a chance to defend myself but he was crazy yelling and went on and on. He is definitely crazy and should go to anger management. (No class whatsoever) Bassam, one day you're going to be on the other side of the table and as angry as I am I still wish you a better doctor than you were to me. I'm so disappointed in the level of service from this doctors office... I joined years ago and Dr Erin Parise is my practitioner (she's very good) but sadly the terrible front office service makes me want to find a new doctors office. I've just been on hold for 30 mins waiting for someone to answer the phone and gave up. They now have a call center so you can't speak to anyone in the front office and if you ever request a call back (I once called and requested a call back on 3 separate occasions regarding something important) and never got a call back so I physically had to drive there to speak to the Office Manager in person..... I've never known a Doctors office to be so awful with their patient service. Also getting appts isn't easy, you're lucky if you get offered one in a few days, certainly no same day appts available. read more

This was my first visit with OptumCare in Laguna Niguel, and with Stuart Siegel, M.D, an endocrinologist. The front office experience was efficient and friendly. There was no attitude that I had not completed their forms yet prior to appt. I did finish them there and Dr Siegel's nurse, Yvonne, was awesome taking what was most important for them to know now to be seen by the doctor and entering in computer. She was very much a part of the excellent experience I had today, the only person ever to not cause intense pain when taking my blood pressure, and of critical importance, she laughed at my jokes. About Dr. Siegel, likeable from the first second. He's very focused, extremely thorough. I felt comfortable to ask questions, but didn't have many because he covered so much and in a way that I could understand it. Like an investigator evaluating my medical history and recent cat scan, he found something that might be causing other issues that seemed unrelated. He created a game plan including more testing, with an appt in a month to evaluate and go from there. They're located in the Albertson's Shopping Center at Golden Lantern and Hidden Hills (I think that's the street name), easy to find, lots of parking which is free! read more

I just called to inquire about Covid testing procedures. I was told by urgent care to go through my pcp, which is located at this facility. I cannot stress enough how rude the receptionists are at this facility. I didn't fully understand the process and needed some extra explaining and the guy on the other end was short, rude and then hung up the phone. I wish my PCP would go to a different facility, but unfortunately this is it. read more

I am EXTREMELY UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED with the customer service staff at this office. I am an RN and I refer many many people to Dr. Parise. This review does not reflect on her. I have been on an SSRI drug for over nine years and I have had nothing but problems trying to get this prescription refilled since I have moved to the area. I ran out of my RX last wednesday (11/1/23) and if you know anything about SSRI drugs, you cannot stop them cold turkey. I called two days before my last pill and was on the phone with someone who seemed distracted and could care less about the urgency of this refill. I proceeded to stop by my pharmacy where they had no prescription for me. They sent a fax as I was at the counter. Two days passed and I called again, and got another individual who seemed bored with my request and I asked to label it STAT. After my third time at the pharmacy it was still NOT there and they had to send yet another fax. This leads to this morning. I spoke to another agent at the office who was VERY SHORT AND RUDE even though I stressed how important this refill was to my mental health. I almost went to the emergency room last night for uncontrollable panic attacks. This is straight up malpractice. read more

I am a Paraplegic and just signed up for Optumcare because of they way that their TV Commercial said that put a plan together for Patients with special needs. Spinal Cord Damage was specifically mentioned. So I was quite excited to think that FINALLY a company understands that Patients with special needs have exactly that... Special Needs. WELL, I personally am still dealing with the disconnect with the OPTUM PORTAL and my PCP. I have been on their plan since 01/01/2021 and just last week got a Prescription that was due to refill on 01/01. Still working on other problems that just caused me to receive a Bill for $1165.19 from my previous Durable Goods supplier that doesn't take Optum but my New Primary Care Physician sent the Prescription to them. Hmm, how am I responsible for this error?? read more

Do you like waiting weeks for a referral to be approved? Enjoy waiting on hold for 45 minutes at time? Love being transferred 7 times before you speak to the correct office? Then Optum is the Health Care Group for you! I've been trying to get an appointment with a podiatrist for 3 weeks. Even with an approved referral I still don't have a scheduled appointment. They will NOT give you the direct number to the doctor's office so you're stuck in a black hole of Optum's "customer service" line. You will be transferred and sent back to the same person several times. Make sure you have some coffee or whiskey nearby, because it's going to be a long wait. Thank God I'm only in excruciating pain and it's not life threatened. Way to go Optum. You really don't care about your clients at all. I am a little worried about Optum. They have taken over Monarch Health Care and Several of my doctors have left Optum. I wonder why. Optum medical group does an outstanding job of taking care of my 82 year old dad! Dr Albert Duncan is professional kind caring and friendly. His medical assistant Natasha is by far one of the best! Avoid with a passion. Getting through to them to schedule an appointment, or reach them for any reason, is an arduous task. In addition, their billing department is at best, incompetent, at worst, intentionally deceptive. We have been trying to get a refund of a balance to our FSA account for more than six months. After several calls, letters and a formal complaint with our state Attorney General's Office, we have gotten no where. The excuses for not refunding our balance have been ludicrous. read more

AVOID this place! Awful, absolutely awful customer service. Impossible to talk to someone, to get an appointment, or to get help for anything you may need. Our GP was Dr. Parise, whom we thought was fine but after seeing her once, we have not been able to get another appointment with her. Every time we need to go in, we are asked to see a different doctor. Never as good as Dr. Parise. I recently called to ask for an appointment again, and after holding for 15 minutes, was again told there were no appointments with her in the next three months. I was offered a couple of other doctors who could potentially see me but when I inquired about the them, the person on the phone got annoyed and put me back on hold at the end of the line. I went in there yesterday after they called me to see if i can get help.the lady at the front offices was rude and said she sent a messages the doctors and the doctors sent Laura or Latino girl and said that Doctors Erin Parise said that she couldn't see me and I needed to go to the ER for help and the ER told me that I needed to see. this place is absolutely terrible with patients time.. I've come here multiple times, been early for my appointments and still end up waiting in the room to see dr for 40 minutes doing nothing. it's pathetic how long these appointments take compared to a normal dr office. be prepared to spend over an hour here for even the most simple appointments. their drs like dr billal are always on vacation, they are understaffed and don't value anyone's time. Optum care doctors limit visits and deny care. One doctor in the system gave me no diagnosis of my condition. Therefore, nothing was done about my condition which included the real possibility of a need for bowel resection. Labcorp has a very rude and abrasive receptionist who doesn't not wear her name tag. All other receptionists do wear the tags. This is the Lab Corp in the medical arts building in Glendora, CA. By the way, Lab Corp at Magan Clinic in West Covina is excellent. I cannot speak to the others. This lady needs anger management. Doctor visits are short. Visits are also rationed. I received three visits per year to a specialist who never gave a diagnosis of a serious diverticulitis condition. There is a chance of a bowel rupture which was not looked into. This is life and death. There are much better plans but it is good to have extra $$. read more
