I went to Orainda's to try on wedding gowns. Beginning of the appointment seemed normal until I came out in the first dress. My family wanted to take photos so I can remember and look back on the dresses I tried on, and the owner immediately told us pictures are not allowed. She explained she has had bad experiences of brides coming in just to find out the size and style they like, then going and purchasing elsewhere. I understand her point of view but that really rubbed me the wrong way as a customer. I wasn't able to remember any of the dresses I tried on, therefore I ended up purchasing my gown elsewhere. She also seemed to have a bad vibe. She mentioned that getting the "this is it" feeling isn't common then said only 80% of women experience it. The lady was very rude, pushy and ignored the brides mother even though they're best friends. I'm the Maid of Honor and I felt so bad for my sister! The dresses seemed cheap quality and expensive prices. She didn't listen to the brides opinion about what she did and didn't want. It was just altogether an uncomfortable experience. She was even trying to tell us how to do different aspects of the wedding. I would not recommend this place ever! Looking for a prom dress?? She has them with those open backs everyone seeks out and wants. We poked our heads in here today and Orainda the owner of the shop has just this year started to carry prom dresses. She has an exclusive brand and is the only one selling them in the state. One of a kind as she's carrying only 1 of each dress so nobody will run into a duplicate. We're recycling our older daughters prom dress this year but will check her out next year for sure. I was not happy whatsoever with the atmosphere the owner provided. She was very pushy and especially disrespectful to my mom. The girls I brought along with me mean the world to me and I was embarrassed and felt bad to bring them to a place they were not treated nicely in. This was the first place we went because I wanted a smaller store that would prioritize me rather than just wanting to make money and Orainda definitely delivered on that. She made the appointment fun and light easing my anxieties about dress shopping almost instantly. I was able to find my dream dress and veil in a little over an hour! She's very good at making you feel very special and princessy(?) about your dress and your big day and clearly cares very much about her customers. I shopped here on my search for a wedding dress last year, and again this weekend with my friend who is getting married. It was Orainda's seventh anniversary since opening so the ambiance was extra cheerful and celebratory. On both occasions here Orainda was exceptional. She is charming, funny, down to earth, a great listener, and attentive to the brides desires. She has a great sense for what the customer is liking and seemed to know exactly what dresses to pull. A wedding in a week! I had ordered a dress online for my wedding (big mistake-I know) and a week before the wedding it came, and it came in all the wrong ways. I needed to find a wedding dress and fast. When I came into Orainda's Bridal Boutique, my spirits were low thinking I wouldn't have a dress in time for my wedding. But I was instantly greeted with a smile and tons of beautiful dresses as soon as I walked in! I picked out a few dress but the owner came out with the winner- a satin tight fit I didn't think I would like- it was PERFECT! She knew exactly what I was looking for in my dress, and executed it perfectly. Since I'm quite short, I needed a hem and a few alterations and she suggested a perfect seamstress that could get it done well and get it done fast. She also provided information on where my now husband could find a white shirt for his suit that would not offset the color of my dress. Orainda's is THE place to go for Bridal dresses in Anchorage. She was over-the-top accomodating, taking as much time as I needed. It was the most personal service you could get. She was quick to respond to any and all of our communications. She even did my bustle and some basic alterations on my dress right then and there... complimentary. I am actually from Houston, and had done some shopping there already, but was in town to meet my fiance's family and visit Anchorage for the first time. (You have an amazing city you guys.) I came into the shop to try on a certain dress I had spotted online. Orainda was so generous with advice and words of wisdom from all of her experience in the wedding industry. Her customer service is beyond compare, and if you get the chance ask her any questions you might have about photography, catering, bar tending, etc. she loves giving suggestions and has networked with many vendors and keeps all their business cards on hand. I went to 4 shops (David's, Anderson's, and Fabulous Frocks) while in town from Juneau looking for my dress, and this was by far my best experience. She had the second best selection of *pretty* larger size dresses - size 20 and up. David's had a larger number total, but about the same number I actually liked enough to want to try on, and I liked the quality and selection available here more. The service was also so, so much better. All her picks were very personalized to my stated interests, and she listened to my feedback to narrow the search. Unlike several other stores (David's, Anderson's), every dress she grabbed me was also within my stated budget. I got a ton of great advice, and she really listened to what I wanted my wedding to look like, and gave me personalized tips for ways she could help make that happen (like buying a lavender dress and dying it ombre instead of trying to get a more elusive and expensive ombre dress for my bridesmaids). She also had great suggestions for accessories, which really helped me picture myself in the dresses as a bride. I should also mention her's was the only shop I visited without an appointment, and she accommodated me wonderfully anyway. I love the dress I chose, and I can't wait until it comes in- under budget, earlier than I need it, and in a custom size. I will probably get my bridesmaid dresses here too, though I haven't made a firm decision on that yet. read more

Out of all the dress shops we went by, this one by far the was rudest experience we encountered. We were greeted when we walked in but in front of other customers, she felt the need to announce what our budget was and that our search is going to be limited. Keep in mind when I made the appt our original budget had doubled but instead of asking she just treated us like poor people. It would have been one thing to bring this up once, but when you are constantly reminded during your fitting how much you are willing to spend and in front of other customers is rude. We couldn't wait to leave the store, Anderson's, David's and Fabulous Frocks were all amazing and considerate. It's also bad when all the other dress shops in town have heard wonderful things about this place when all the lady at Oriandas could do was talk horribly about other dress shops. I got married last weekend, and the dress I got from Orainda's was absolutely perfect. She has an excellent selection of dresses in all different styles, and was extremely helpful and attentive throughout the process of finding my dress. She had helpful suggestions and tips when we wanted them, but was never pushy. I also love that this is a small shop and Orainda only works with one bride at a time, so I felt like I got all of the personal attention I needed. In addition to all her help with selecting the perfect dress, Orainda steamed out my dress before the big day, as well as my maid of honor's dress (which we didn't even purchase from her shop). So disclaimer, I've actually never purchased from Orainda's. In fact, I've never even been in the store, but when I called from 4k miles away to inquire about whether or not she would have some mother of the bride dresses I could send my incredibly difficult to dress mom in to try on she was SO helpful. She was up front and honest about not having anything that would work for my mom, but she continued to chat, gave me many options and ideas, and suggested a dress maker in Wasilla who happens to be five minutes from my mom. She was so helpful that I wanted to send in my two local bridesmaids to buy their dresses there. When she didn't carry the brand my bridesmaids are wearing she was kind enough to give me a bridal shop in town who does. Our phone conversation was only about 15 minutes long, but the level of encouragement and helpfulness I received from her even though she knew she would not be able to make any money off of me was astounding. If she treats total strangers thousands of miles away with that level of care and attention I can only imagine how wonderfully she'd take care of a bride in person! Orainda is SO amazing! I had a good feeling I was going to have a great experience at her shop because before my appointment, I received an email survey asking about my dress preferences and my wedding. It only got better from there! The moment I walked in to her shop, she was very friendly. I knew she genuinely cared about helping me find the right dress. She was so helpful and she had remembered what I wrote on my survey! After trying on several dresses, I found the perfect one that was everything I wanted. She helped me get an idea for the complete look with hair accessories, a veil, and even a bouquet! I ordered the dress and got a nice gift bag and 10% with her "Hero" discount. What a great way to make a teacher feel appreciated! She has dresses that are not only beautiful but also reasonably priced. Her dressing room was nice and comfortable and the whole shop has a really cute decor. I really enjoyed my dress shopping experience. Don't bother going to the other bridal shops in town, their service isn't even close! After going to David's and Anderson's, I was losing hope and was considering buying a dress online but then I found out about Orainda's and I'm so glad!!!
