Took my grandson to a monster truck event during the fair. The truck event was so-so and not really worth the admission. Fair was lackluster also. In short, the place is a dump. The visit was unplanned but glad we stopped by the last minute. We were surprised in the beginning when we were charged for $20 for the parking fee when we entered the lot. My head was complaining as we will just be there for the last hour of the car exhibition... later we realized there was donut show in the speedway itself. The speedway size may be the small in comparison to where I'd been to but honestly, the exhibition and the show were both entertaining that made our night went by so fast. There were some good music playing on, other entertainment shows that made us occupied during the stay, was selling good foods and drinks for the public, there is a goodie shop to hop on and a decent bar to walked in. The bleacher is not far from the raceway. It was dark and dry when we arrived in the place so I can't say much about the parking lot quality. The regular restroom were available and pretty descent . Plenty of Porto potty was available for use as well. It was a nice experience, we felt we were dating on this visit. read more

TLDR: Pros: concert itself was good Cons: $25 parking, rundown facility Overall I would give this venue 2.75/5.00 stars and Bethel Woods 5.00/5.00 stars. REVIEW: Went to my first post-covid concert here to see Everclear. There are no signs pointing to parking so I had to drive around premises to find the entrance. Parking is $25 which was as much as Citi Field (Mets) or Nassau Coliseum (Islanders). The parking lot is big and they direct you into spots and I had no problem exiting after the show. There are Porto potties in the parking lot so you don't have to go in the woods. Yes tailgating is permitted in the parking lot. You walk through an entry tent where you scan your ticket. There is less security enforcement here than at Bethel Woods but more than at The Chance. The merch tent is by the entrance. There was a hot dog stand and a burrito bowl stand next to the merch tent for food. Multiple carts and bars are scattered throughout the venue selling domestic beer ($6 small, $9 large). The stage has setup with pretty good sound considering a temporary stage and soundboard tent is setup and not a permanent fixture. As a temporary setup the on stage lighting really is subpar. The seating is 50% the size of most Live Nation Amphitheatres. There are no permanent seats but you can bring in your own lawn chairs. The lower level is sand/ dirt pit. There is a stone wall you can sit atop in front of the fence for the lawn (just like any Live Nation Amphitheatres have). The lawn grass is well maintained. But the paved walkways become a river in the rain. There are permanent restrooms atop the lawn that are very dated. The Orangeade stand is up there too. If Orange County Raceway was upgraded and renovated it's superior location really could give the remote yet exquisite Bethel Woods a run for it's money. OCR $25 for all parking should take note that the superior BW venue parking is $0 or $40 (premium). read more

I was so excited to attend my first post-pandemic concert that I drove almost 2 hours to the Orange County Fair Speedway to see Everclear. It was a rainy July day. I pulled into the venue, following a long line of cars, and was told it would cost $25 to park for the evening. Are you kidding me?? $25 to park in a muddy field in Middletown, NY? That's more than Disney World and any of the NYC-area airports. I think, if the management chooses to gouge customers like this, they need to better organize their website to make this policy clear. The website is pretty awful - some events they host don't appear on the schedule at all. For others, the verbiage is inconsistent among similar events (ie, whether one can/should bring a lawn chair). Terrible experience and I've suffered lots of small indignities over decades of seeing live music. I was planning to attend two other shows here later this same summer, but now I'm rethinking whether I should just go to a different venue on the tours. read more

Attended a concert that was canceled before headlining band even started, due to the inadequate sound system. At first they offered refund by emailing them, then stopped communicating completely. Very unprofessional. Also, be careful buying tickets, as they alway cut the price in half about 10 days before show. They did this on all 3 concerts I attended this year. 3 strikes and I'm out. They also change the parking price by how much they profit on the show. Blackberry Smoke- $25 parking, Toby Keith-$5 parking, Collective Soul (which never played) $20. Super frustrating, they really need to get their act together if the want to be a professional venue. read more

I went here a few times last year (2015) and I've also been here in the past, but I'm debating whether or not to go back again this year. My trips here have verified the local reputation of this place - it's a dump and not maintained. The staff are great and the races are fun to watch. The starter is fantastic and fair, and he really gets into his job. The actual dirt track itself is not maintained. I've heard drivers, employees and spectators all complaining about conditions of the track. I'm also not impressed with the old bleacher seating and the condition of the venue. The owners need to invest some money into making it more modernized and cleaning it up. Last year, while sitting half way up the bleachers, I got hit in the head with a flying piece of roofing shingle that was on the track (I wasn't hurt). I've taken girls here on dates to the demolition derbies and they're lots of fun. They usually have them once a year, but it's a fun date idea (or even with friends) to watch school buses and old cars banging into each other, while eating your snacks. I've gone to other tracks, such as the old Kauneonga Speedway (now Catskill Speedway), and they are much more family oriented. They do trophies after each race and bring the drivers' families out on the track each time. Orange County should follow that as a model, do different activities, contests, etc. to involve their fans (especially families and kids), and that will keep people coming back. They could attract much bigger crowds if they'd upgrade the premises and start doing different things to attract spectators. read more

The racing is the Best You will find. No charge for parking, unless you go to the drive in side. The New Owners are Working their Butts off to make this the Best Clay Track on the East. They should have left the track alone. I was there last year and it was great, hardly any dust. I was there yesterday and it was horrible. You could only see the cars on the front stretch because of all the dust. People were wearing goggles and scarfs to cover their faces. I top of that they never said anything about $20.00 for parking.
