McCann Arena is located on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. It seats about 3,200 fans and there is not a bad seat in the house. The men's and women basketball team play all their home games there. I took in a game yesterday with the wife and seat behind the home basket, 2nd row aisle. Awesome seats and for $12 each, not a bad deal. Parking is free, but if you get there 15 minutes before game time your parking all the way down the other side of campus. The campus is hilly and it is a nice hike to the arena. They do have a free shuttle service that takes you to the front door of the arena. Food options are limited; hot dogs, pretzels, pizza, soda and water. No adult beverages, only for The Red Fox Den members, a booster club. If you want to support local college basketball, McCann Arena is as good as it gets. Affordable tickets, free parking, easy to get to and if your lucky a Marist Victory.

No matter where you sit, the view is always good and I've sat in a lot of spots here. Sure, they don't win as many games was one would like but realistically, these are the best ballers in our area. I considered going to Marist but I wanted to go away for college. Any event at the McCann Arena is fun and worthwhile. I saw an Everclear concert here about 10 years ago. We were there at 7:00 pm and they didn't start playing until 11:00 pm! That was far too long, some people in my group didn't even see them because they had to work the next day and were forced to leave by 10:00 pm. However, the venue was outstanding, for 50 dollars they served a beautiful and delicious buffet of food and apps that was outstanding. Absolutely delicious and served hot and fresh. They kept refilling the food until everyone ate. They served Chicken Marsala, sausage and peppers, egg plant rollitini, salad, baked potatoes, and the app station was packed with delicious charcuterie and cheese. The drinks were great and at only 6 dollars each they don't break the bank. The DJ was really good playing some great dance music and the staff were friendly and professional. I would definitely go back to this place again.

My friends got married inside. The wall in which they got married in front of had a fire alarm right in the middle. That fire alarm will be in EVERY picture!! I would go crazy! 2. That same wall had a light fixture with lamp shades. The lamp shades were crooked. 3. The sweetheart table had NO light on them. In fact for the first hour we couldn't figure out where they were sitting. There was light during speeches thanks to their photographer. 4. The cocktail area space is so small! You could barely walk from one side to the other. As a guest it was extremely uncomfortable. 5. The food was okay and there was a great dessert table but the table was outside the ballroom so you barely knew it was there. 6. Last, the bartenders were so slow! There were two bars and a nonstop line at both bars all night. They should have had more help. I would not suggest having your wedding there unless you are paying under $90pp because it should not be more than that.

At this location you had about 40 or so Teams competing in various forms of BBQ cooking: ribs, chicken, hogs, brisket. I walked through the BBQ Team Village and everyone was just chilling. The cooking was in progress and only drinking beer was the order of the day. Let me tell you, I had more ribs than I should have and they were all good. I don't want to single out and praise one stand over another, but there was some serious cue. I am a ribs fan and each stand represented their style with smoke, good crust and very, very tasty. The ribs were moist and they had that pull. Very nice. The Big Apple Barbecue Block Party at Madison Park should seriously review how the Hudson Valley Ribfest does business. Lines were as long, but moved. I mean there where 50 to 70 people ahead of me and the wait was less than 12 minutes. The food was hot. Not warm like at Big Apple, but hot which made for an enjoyable experience. Overall, I can't wait till next year. Rib samples at $7 for 3 bones and they were full bones. Beer selection was slim, Bud and Bud Lite, but you were not robbed. Only $5, not the end of the world. Hudson Valley Ribfest was very family friendly and with the weather sunny, one awesome day.

Well I couldn't have been more surprised, the amount of vendors here was triple the amount of the ones that were here for the wine events. Lots of food with all kinds of variety. Yes BBQ was king, but there was something for everyone. Parking in the field across the road is plentiful. I did not see any pets so keep your four legged friends at home. The staff running the event are courteous and friendly. Security does check bags at the entrance. I didn't bother to ask what they were looking for since most large events have the added security and I'm all for that. We got here about a half hour after they officially opened and it wasn't as crowded yet. There were some lines already forming for the food so we scouted a bit and decided on Butch's for the ribs. The ribs were tender, gooey and tangy. Utterly delicious, specially after adding extra sauce. Later on we had some deep fried shrooms and fried green tomatoes. Beer and wine slushee's helped wash it all down. I ended the afternoon with some Argentine chorizo with chimichurri sauce without the bread. Very good I must add. Overall, a good way to spend the day. They've already posted the date for next years event. Oh yeah bring hand wipes, you're gonna need them.

It is a little bit of a walk, but nothing crazy. Inside was really nice. The only downfall, I will say is that there was only one bathroom, one stall. And in a big place like that it definitely should be more than one bathroom other than that, I will definitely be coming back here for another event and or show. All the years I've been in this area I never visited here. The Staff were great.
