LiveScan fees: Rolling fee/"service charge" plus any required DOJ or FBI fees. (Rolling fee: $18)

Orange County LiveScan is located inside a medical uniform/shipping store that shares a front entrance way with a check cashing outfit that ALSO offers LiveScan services. As several yelp*ers mentioned, it can be a bit challenging to actually locate the correct business. As just mentioned, It doesn't help matters that ANOTHER LiveScan operation is located right next door; a mere 4' from each other. Store front - Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=YrKjKsElIma7AlPROce7VQ&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ As you enter the "My Scrubs," store front, immediately TURN LEFT, do not go right. IF you do, you will be at the wrong LiveScan business. Did I mention that it can be a bit confusing? HA! Go left! - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=YTPVZgZDvlOtm5CnFNHExA&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ I will be doing in-person teaching this summer for the city of Irvine and along with required vaccine shots, a LiveScan clearance is needed as well. I was hoping to get my LiveScan procedure done at a local police department. However, due to the pandemic, LiveScan operations at all police/sheriff departments are currently shut down. Hence, my decision to come here. I called ahead, verified that the business was still offering LiveScan, and was given clear instructions about finding the shop. I didn't understand why such a detailed description was given to me until I saw the competing next-door business. HA! Again, the LiveScan is located in a medical uniform store. Once you enter, proceed to the back of the shop where there is a counter and the LiveScan station. I must've waited no more than ten minutes before Ariana returned to do the LiveScan process. Photo - Photo - https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=lZlf4aed3U0OtVY_E7U2sA&userid=O6EBodP3Fgu_n67efSKnBQ NOTE: Be sure to have your LiveScan request form from the agency requesting it. The paperwork will have all the necessary information required; including type of LiveScan and/or a billing number for the procedure. Ariana reviewed my paperwork; entered my info into the system; performed the scans; explained what I should be do next, along with the breakdown of the total cost. She also provided me with a website and LiveScan number to track my progress in the system. Ariana was great; friendly, fast and extremely efficient. Mahalo nui for the great service! Rolling fee: $18 Additional DOJ and/or FBI fee; depending on wha type of background check is required. I has LiveScan done a few years ago for another teaching position and learned that it is non-transferable from one entity to another. For example, if you had a LiveScan done for the Laguna Beach School District and was going to be teaching in Irvine the next year; you will need to apply and do the procedure all over again. Be well, be safe. - Big Aloha! Food: n/a Ambiance: 3 Service: 5 Value: 4

    A 1 Mail

Been going there for years and years! Always pleasant and friendly service. My go-to notary service.read more

Yesterday I had the WORST customer service experience at A1 Mail in Mission Viejo. On Wednesday I…read moreneeded to ship a very important item to my son who had moved out of state. I went to A1 mail to see what the best/quickest options were to get it to him by the weekend. A woman helped me, showed me all the options and we agreed on a FedEx option that would arrive on Friday. Late yesterday (Friday) I pulled up the tracking information expecting to see the item was delivered or out for delivery but the tracking showed the item had not moved from Mission Viejo. The status was showing "shipment information sent to Fedex" and "we"II add a delivery date as soon as we get your package". I immediately called A1 mail to see what happened. I explained my situation to the man who answered the phone who abruptly said "yes, it shipped" without getting any information from me. I asked him how he knew this since he hadn't asked for a tracking number, my name or any details. He told me that "Fedex picks everything up every day" and that "it was gone". I asked him to at least take my tracking info and look up the item which he did (hesitantly). After checking the tracking number he claimed that Fedex takes "2-3 days" to update their website. I explained to him that I was "stressed out" because this was a bank card and my son needed it for his rent this weekend. He asked if the card had been activated and when I said it had not, in a very snarky/sarcastic tone he replied "well if it hasn't been activated then why are you stressed out". Not liking his attitude, I asked to speak with the woman who helped me or a manager. He said to describe the woman so I gave him some specifics and his response was that they have two women who work here that look like that. I could hear another person in the background and I again asked to speak with her or a manager. He then told me he was one of the managers and had been there longer than anyone. Since I could tell he wasn't going to help me any further I decided to drive over to see if I could speak to someone who actually wanted to figure out what happened. When I got to the store I asked him if I could speak to the woman (turns out her name was Diana) who had helped me ship the item. She came out and we pulled up the tracking info which CLEARLY showed the item had not shipped. They both tried to convince me that Fedex had not updated their system. I have experience with Fedex and I could tell that the item had never moved from A1 Mail. Since I was getting no help from them I went out to my car and did a customer service chat with Fedex support. They told me unequivocally that Fedex never received my item. I went back into A1 and showed them the reponse from Fedex support. They stood firm with their explanation that the item had shipped and Fedex just had not updated their system. I continued to argue with them about it and they said their Fedex driver would be there in a half hour and they would discuss with him and call me back. I went home and called Fedex directly and spoke with a representative. They again told me the item was never received and there was no way their system just wasn't showing an update. Shortly before A1 was closing for the evening I received a call back from Diana. She said their "regular" Fedex driver did not come by today and said I could call the driver's supervisor on Monday and see if I could get an answer as to what happened. I told her I had just gotten off the phone with Fedex and they again confirmed the item had never been picked up. Her response was "and you beleive them over us". I told her this whole situation was unacceptable and at this point I wanted a refund for my shipping fees ($22). She said she couldn't do that and I would have to come back in on Monday after 2pm when the owner was there. This whole situation is completely unacceptable. My son's bank card is now lost. The two people who work at A1 seemed to be blaming me for everything and not wanting 1) do their job, 2) assist with a problem for the service paid for, 3) were completely rude and unapologetic and, 4) made very little effort to help figure out what happened. I have used A1 mail for many many years, but after this experience I will never use them again and will definitely be sharing what happened to me with anyone who asks for a recommendation for a local mailing establishment.

For the notary, they were careful and detail-oriented. When it came to my baby's passport photo, they initially suggested taking the photo at home since it can be easier for babies. However, when I arrived, they were more than willing to try taking the photo there--and my baby did just fine. The photo was printed within about ten minutes and it cost $18.31 for two copies of 2x2. This price is reasonable compared to other places. The staff member who helped us was very kind and patient with both me and my baby. I also noticed they assist with TSA PreCheck processing, which is super convenient. The location is clean, the staff are helpful, and I highly recommend Postal Annex for notary services, passports, and shipping needs.

I had heard that PostalAnnex specialized in multiple sizes passport and visa photos (Postal Annex came recommended to me for Chinese Visas - you can even pay them to fill out and submit the application for you! But I opted to do it myself but I still needed the photo). I called just to make sure and they told me they indeed do passport and visa photos (including for China) and when I asked if I needed to make an appointment - they said "no you can just show up anytime during opening hours but it's good to come at least 15 minutes before closing because the whole process takes about 15 minutes) When I showed up there was plenty of parking (it is located on the intersection of Culver and Irvine Center Drive in the main shopping center across from the McDonalds. There was also a sign on the window advertising that they do photos and the Chinese Visas so that was a good sign. The man who took my photo was very nice and knowledgeable - I liked that he seemed very experienced and had done a ton of these before. I also liked how he showed me my photo to make sure I liked it for final approval before he just printed it. You give them your email address for the digital copy and then you also get 2 printed photos for $24.99 which came to about $26 after tax. I just waited in the store (they have 3 chairs you can wait in and have a fridge with drinks to purchase too - or you can walk around the center while you wait). The woman Amrit who works there was also very reassuring and friendly and super helpful as was the man (whose name I didn't get). I chose this location because the other Postal Annex has received some negative Yelp reviews for unfriendly service but at this location (15333 Culver Dr) the service was OUTSTANDING and I will be coming here for all my future passport and visa photo needs! (They also do mailing, have mailboxes, etc.)
