I opted for the 2/3 - 1/3 shutters configuration (where the bottom two-thirds opens and closes independently from the top third). You don't know how important having quality shutters are until you move into a place. As a person that works rotating shifts, keeping the sun out is a big deal. I am very thankful OC Shutters was easy to find. The staff is very friendly and they don't try to take advantage of you. I'll admit I was surprised by how many options they had available. They did a great job of answering questions and making the selection process easy. It took about a month and a half to get the shutters I wanted made, but it was worth the wait. I contacted Rebecca last summer, right after we purchased a new home in Aliso Viejo, to get a quote for plantation shutters. Not only was Rebecca on time for the appointment, she was very knowledgable about her products and the industry she was in, she also knew much about her competition and the different types of ways shutters are manufactured. She was polite, informative and the price quotes were very competitive. The shutters were built and professionally installed in just a few weeks. I have been trying to get a hold of OC Shutters for months now for them to fix cracked louvers and shutters that were installed improperly. After 2 months of them saying they will come out and fix it, they have stopped calling me back and NEVER answer the phone. I called the actual installer since I still had his number from an old voice mail, and he has moved on to a different shutter company. Obviously this "Family" business does not care. I have a brand new set of shutters with a craked louver and another panel of louvers that doesnt' work! Not to mention they installed the shutters too close to my windows, so the louvers hit the windows and I can't fully open or close them. Unreal. DO NOT hire this company because they do NOT stand by there product or their installation. read more

They did a fine job installing the shutters. The big problem was when we noticed a slat was damaged, the company promised to replace that slat with another when they came to install the second set of shutters. The second installer did not know about the damaged slat, so he did not have a new one to replace it with. When we called the company in December, they promised once again to replace it. This has gone on for the past six months with us calling for a replacement slat and we being given a false promise. The receptionist even promised not to leave her office until she had an answer for when they were going to replace the damaged slat. Another promise not kept because that was two months ago. I doubt she has been living in her office all this time. Very poor customer service in this regard. read more

If I could give this company 0 star I wouId. I called to inform the company there's an problem on the shutters installation (the depth between the window and shutter are not the same (so it looks out of alignment and bad) and I also reported yellow stain on the shutters should be replaced. I spoke to Richard who came to my house to look at the installation issue. First, he argued there was nothing wrong with the installation and proceed to tell me it's my windows that are not aligned (WTF). After arguing for about 10 mins, he finally come down and said he's going to work with the installer and see if there's anything he can do to fix the problem. He said he'll contact me the following day. I waited for 3 days, never heard from him and proceed to call him. He said, spoke with the installer and they were supposed to call me and I told him I did not received any call from the installer. Richard said he's going to call the installer and call me back. Same thing, didn't hear back from him so called him and he told me we'll have the installer contact you on Monday or Tuesday (2/4-2/5) to schedule the appointment never heard back from this douche. I'm sick of tired of talking to a wall, I want my shutter fix. Have your management contact me. read more

I had 14 plantation shutters installed in my home this year. We did it in 2 separate orders. The first order for half of the windows came in fine. The second half were not. They were constructed in such a way that the window could NEVER open. Weird I know. They realized their mistake quickly and ordered new shutters made. This has been by far the MOST HORRIBLE experience EVER. Dorian promised me a date range before thanksgiving to get the shutters done... didn't happen. Then.... spoke to Dorian and the "owner" Rebecca about an upcoming holiday party where I was entertaining 100+ people and NEEDED TO HAVE THE SHUTTERS installed so I could remove the paper temporary shades I had up.. I was told that it was 90% certain that it would not be a problem.. then was told that they were backed up and it would not happen... week of Christmas they finally installed them.. except for the fact that the shutters for the master bedroom were the WRONG SIZE... spoke to them again and exchanged countless emails with the owner and Rich they said it was a mistake on their part and that they would try to get them done ASAP. The installer who were there installing the shutters that were the right size said the "owner would deduct 300 dollars for the total price for the problem" which made me feel like at least they were trying to make it right.... then I find out from the owner that the 300 was being taken off because the 2 wrong sized shutters would need to be redone and that I would be charged again when they were installed. WHAT? By the way, she never refunded the 300. At this point I was just beyond disgusted that they sound like a scratched record with the "i'm sorry" yet they don't do anything to fix the issue. I was then told by Rich a month ago that my 2 shutters WOULD BE READY BY 2/23/15. I called yesterday on 2/21 and Rich said that he wasn't sure what the status was and that Dorian would call me. Dorian then calls to tell me it's ANOTHER MONTH.... THAT THE ORDER WAS ENTERED A NEW ORDER AND NOT A REDO... This has been an insanely horrible transaction from day one. Both Dorian and Rich have told me repeatedly that "they are sorry", "yes, it seems like you were screwed up countless time from reviewing your history", "we are rightfully getting horrible yelp reviews", "I bet you're going to write one as well", etc. So now I sit here having to wait another month for the master bedroom shutters to be done. First time I used them for my condo about 7 years ago the experience was great and that's why I went back. This time around it's been a nightmare. read more

Very Disappointing! I had hired them following Yelp and Nextdoor reviews. The rep came in Feb and gave us the estimate. We paid half the estimate after we were told the work will be completed in 6 weeks. It is now end of April and we are still waiting. Very difficult to get a hold of the rep. And finally when we got a hold of them, they are saying they are having some production problem and hence cant even give us a date when they will come to install. Meanwhile we have a bunch of other work that is on hold now, while we wait, not knowing till when.. And while I understand that sometimes things happen which could cause delays, this is even more frustrating since every communication we have with them, we come off feeling we may have done something wrong for this to happen! Meanwhile, we still wait.. Don't know how much longer! read more

I absolutely would not use this company again. I used them for shutters on my brand new over 3000 sq ft home in Newport Beach. My husband and I spent a fortune on white lacquer paint and beautiful new molding throughout the entire house. Rebecca claimed that she was an interior designer, had a great eye etc. I ended up ordering through her company and when the shutters came, and the order was over a month later than quoted, the shutter color does not match the white lacquer molding. She knew the color was going to be off and she let me order them. They dont look right and there is absolutely nothing that I can do about it. I would have never ordered shutters knowing that they would not match the CUSTOM molding that I just had put in my NEW HOUSE. She knew it. In addition to that, they have an incredibly rude installer. She gave no instructions as to how to prepare for the install and he was irritated with me. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT use this company. There are many other reputable options to choose from. I honestly can not believe she ordered shutters she know would not match. read more

I bought my shutters from Orange County Shutters several years back and love them. I ordered them adjustable in 3 ways and I love playing around with different lighting in my home. Some people who have been in my home have loved the look of the shutters and have also bought them. Recently, 2 shutters accidentally broke when a relative accidentally pushed a chair into them.
