The Palms Springs Power is a stacked team of Collegiates from all over the United States...so you're going to see a really good team -- undefeated 4 weeks into the season and they're 16-0 I'm a former player (and Pitcher) and follow all baseball very closely so I know a good team when I see one. I've already been twice and considering buying Season Seats ($100 = 28 games) Otherwise, General Admission is $10 for Adults and $5 for kids. Last game I scored on the "Power Pass" for $16 = one ticket, a hot dog, a non-alcoholic beverage and bag of chips. I intend to attend more games because they pack lots of fun inside this little stadium that kinda reminds me of a High School Baseball Field but with a Minor League feel & vibe and an exciting team & Field of Dreamers. My 1st game was FREE for a special promotion and went with wifey...but I had so much fun, I came back the following week solo. I don't really eat hot dogs these days (tho I love them) and enjoyed theirs so much after game one, I had another one at game two :) I was told by the nice guy at the ticket counter that the Chicken Caesar's Salad (only $7) is really good too...so instead of a 3 dog night, I'm already planning on that salad next time. Wednesdays are $4 Margarita Night and I heard they're flavorful and strong...but since I was driving it was strictly h2o. This is an Independent Summer League...and this is the Desert so be prepared to get a little heated because 1st pitch is at 7pm and usually still 100 degrees. But there's misters throughout the stadium that does its thing...and the weather cools down halfway into the game. I promise. They play nearly every Tuesday & Wednesday and Friday & Saturday nights during late May thru July 19th (then playoffs??) Lots of volunteers on hand throughout the stadium...and it's so cute & helpful to see all the children walking around the grandstand the last 2 innings collecting trash from all the fans. Lots of great fun & music, free giveaways and a raffle too while enjoying the game. And if the Power scores at least 9 runs, everyone in attendance gets 2 free tacos -- courtesy of Jack in the Box -- if that's your thing. And so far, the Power have been putting up at least 9 nearly every game :) Plenty of free parking in the lot surrounding the stadium...and street parking too on Barista. I can't discuss the organization, I don't know...and I don't really care. What I can discuss is what I saw and experienced: I witnessed passion, loyalty by the fans, gear worn everywhere, I mean, the fans were into it! Why? The team works hard, and the fans see it. Lots of merch is available, lots of fun games are done with the people and kids. Fun for everyone. The Firebirds! Sign me up anytime.

Everything is based on advertisements, over-charging people and bleeding the fans dry financially. I'm talking across the board greed with all fans young to old. It's sad as I see a lot of families and elderly folks not able to afford a simple souvenir, as a standard stuffed animal is $45.99. Like what? It's disappointing that the Kraken organization and Firebirds would partner with Oakview group who owns Acrisure, however it makes sense as the team admins are just as money-driven. If I was this team I wouldn't partner with a place that charges $35+ to park in an unprotected lot. It's not right. The Firebirds team is barely starting to give prizes and giveaways to the faithful fans. However, these few prizes are inconsistent and sometimes they don't even have the amount of items they say they have for the first 4,000ish fans. I'm truly bothered that Fuego (the Firebird Mascot) is followed by an entourage of folks who refuse to let him take pics with kids and fans. It's rude and horrible. Fuego is a beloved character and they need to let him hang out with the fans! This team charges $80+ dollars just to have him visit you! The fans at the Ontario Reign and San Diego Gulls are treated much better. I'm hoping this team chills and begins to give back to the fans, not only consistent giveaways, but rational pricing too! Note: This team caters mainly to their Canadian snowbird or affluent, elderly clientele. The team admins clearly have preferences and it's too bad.

I often accompany her to Ducks games and today was the first time this season. We sit near a mother (90-something) and son (60-something) who are there every game. The son has a huge bellowing voice to yell "Let's Go Ducks!!" No doubt the players can hear him from the ice rink. The Honda Center is full of adrenaline and pep and it's entertaining to watch people as much as it is to watch the game! The new parking structure is really nice! I didn't understand why my friend insisted on parking backwards but then it totally made sense as we left just now because it's much easier to join the line of departing cars if you're driving forward. ALSO, if someone kind makes room for you in the line. Thank you, kind person! Back to the Honda Center--we got some chicken tenders and curly fries for $15 for dinner because we were hungry after work. (Usually we just get Dole whip soft serve pineapple (yum))! Generous portions of real chicken meat in three huge tenders which were well cooked and seasoned, on a mountain of curly fries--very satisfying! You grab your own condiments to go, so I got ranch and ketchup. The Ducks played very well and it was fun sitting next to a 5-year-old boy and his dad--the boy was enraptured with the game, shouting things like "Ducks, do better!" To which his dad replied, "well, we ARE winning". I went to my first Ducks game back in 1996, 30 years ago when Paul Kariya was playing. It's still a super fun team to watch live!! I'm sure we'll be back!

They have some known NBA Players on the team as well as high level post college players. One thing that is great about this is that the crowd can have a hands on with the players before and after the game...! YES, actually take a picture with a pro player, My kid even was shooting on the court with a few of them. Very fast games with alot of dunks and fast breaks make this a great night of entertainment, especially to those who LOVE BASKETBALL. The owner and General Manger was nice enough to even donate tickets to a boy scout troop at one of the Cal Lutheran Location Games for free. I know that the 2012 Season is coming up and there are games scheduled and alot of fund raising games that will support our local HS Athletes, SO I am very glad to support and I know I will enjoy them coming back to the area for the new season. Sure I was wasted, sure San Diego lost, sure some of the opponents looked like dudes... it was amazing! Ok, let me start by saying the ticket prices are a little high (18 smackers, 12 if you're military) but it is WAY worth it! We got the cheap seats, snuck down into the expensive seats (3rd row) and the fun began! The pregame: started with some sailor jerry in the p-lot, accompanied by other numerous beverages with a percentage on the side! Gotta get a nice buzz/intoxication going on cause you never know what the prices will be like inside (it's at the sports arena). The game: snuck in a few of those bag shots, key for said event! Took shots, lost voice from yelling at the opposing team and calling the ref a doucher! It is a personal setting because they have a lot of crowd interaction which is great! Watching women play football... in lingerie...why did it take us sooo long to create this? THE ONE THING I DIDN'T LIKE!!! Damn DJ needs to not play music while they play... how is the ref/opposing team supposed to hear you talking shit if the music is too loud! Turn off the damn music! Other then that, THE SHIT!

PROS: 1. It's cheap…read more($2 parking, $6 tickets). 2. There aren't usually many people there (unless it's July 4 because they have fireworks after the game), so you'll get a seat for sure. (When I went, they said they were almost sold out of the $6 tickets and there wouldn't be many seats left, but when I got in, only 1/4 or 1/3 of the stadium was full.) No matter where you sit, you'll be able to see. 3. On Family Feast days, hot dogs and sodas are $1. 4. There's a Juice it Up tent, which is one of the best parts, in my opinion. ;) $4.50, which gets you a 24oz drink at a regular location, gets you a 16oz drink here. 5. There's a big, fenced-in grassy area next to right field for the kids to play on, and there's a small jump house there too. 6. If the Mavericks get 9 runs in a game, the whole stadium gets coupons for 2 free tacos from Jack in the Box. It happened when I went! 7. Wooly Bully is the mascot, and a lame slice of pizza is a mascot too (Papa John's advertising). The mascots dance on the dugout, try to get fans to cheer/do the wave, and throw a couple bags of popcorn to the audience. 8. The kids get to run across the field after the 7th inning. Lots of silly games and entertainment between innings. 9. They pass a hat every time a Mavericks player gets a home run. The employee told me that 100% of the money goes to the players. CONS: 1. Let's be honest, the Mavericks aren't a great team. They're not a terrible team either, but I stopped rooting for any team and started rooting for whoever made a good play. On the bright side, Mavericks actually won against the Storm 10-9 when I went. 2. The score board person didn't keep track of the errors, which was disappointing for those of us who did. 3. You can't understand anything they announce/say through their speakers or mics. The system is very poor quality. 4. I waited in line at the concession stand for at least 2, probably 3, innings. The workers were hurrying, so the stadium REALLY needs to have more than ONE window serving food. 5. They served me cans of hot soda (which I was able to trade in for cold ones), they were out of pepperoni pizza, and they were out of hot dogs by the time I left. 6. Sometimes you honestly can't tell if you're talking to an employee or a fan. The employees need to wear uniforms, and the same uniform at that. 7. They don't recycle any of the cans and bottles that get left in their stadium. Think of how much money they could make (and the impact on the environment they could have) if they recycled them all. 8. During one of their between-innings shows, they had "cowboys" with real guns. The good cowboys stood on the dugout and watched the bad cowboys fight each other. After a little while, the good cowboys drew their guns and shot the bad cowboys. The guns really did go off with empty rounds, and the bad cowboys pretended to die. Was this supposed to be heroic? Teaching all the observant kids that if you see someone doing something bad, shooting them is the praiseworthy response? Not trying to break up the fight? The stadium announcer provided no intro or explanation. So much for a family-friendly atmosphere. I plan to ask for an explanation from the stadium tomorrow. If the conversation goes anywhere, I'll post an update. CONCLUSION: The Mavs need to open more than one window for food at the concession stand, and they crossed a line with the fake shooting in front of a ton of kids. But I like the place overall, and it's a cheap night of fun. I'll come back again (I always do), but I won't be in a hurry to do so.
