I for one was happy with this since I can barely sort through my own closet of varying degrees of black and grey. The prospect of figuring out a warehouse of multiple colors and texture of materials I was entirely ignorant of was enough to make me say "Fk it, I'll just keep my floors." But it's impressive the motivation one can gain when the proper support and knowledge comes around. I met a friend there who specializes in woodwork and flooring and he introduced me to Jeremie. After going through a quick Q&A (which was more of a Q&Q since I didn't know what I didn't know), my friend abruptly left and walked toward the back and across a threshold that I though we mere mortals weren't allowed to cross. "Isn't that the warehouse?" "Yeah." "Am I allowed back there?" "Just follow me." "....okay..." Like walking into a room with a thousand eyes of judgement falling on your forehead, I hesitantly stepped through the doorway and into a vast sea of fibers, colors, patterns, and textures all piled together in a shockingly orderly manner. Despite the near German organization of the back room, I was still overwhelmed and was grateful to have an experienced guide. "This whole area doesn't apply to what you want so ignore it." *phew* "Over here is interesting but way too expensive for a rental property so don't bother with this." *deep sigh of relief* "So where we're looking at is this small section here, but I think what you chose in the front is good enough. I just want you to see it to make sure you know what you're choosing." *nod* *blank stare* "I'm good, I think." "You sure?" "Yeah." "Ok. Go back to the front, pick the one you want out of the samples we chose, and we'll order today." I am not a shopper, and having my friend there was extremely helpful, but Jeremie was also very knowledgeable and while ordering, he was honest with the pricing and recommended that I NOT buy the more expensive materials since he overheard us talking about a rental property. His overall demeanor is calm and friendly, and his speech style is easy to follow. I imagine Jeremie speaks to many people such as myself who have no idea what they're doing or how to begin to look for what they need/want. I don't encourage you to test his patience, but I would say that after meeting him, I'm not as shy to ask questions, though I will do research beforehand. Avalon is not the cheapest, but they do carry good deals and quality brands. Over the past few months, I've learned a lot and visited several suppliers and I will say that Avalon will be my default in the future for all projects and properties.
