As a founding member (started from day 1), I was skeptical at first. I read reviews from other OTF studios from other states, and it was clear it is a hit. But I wanted to see it for myself. I have been losing weight left and right but always gain it back. Anybody can lose weight, that is the easy part but maintaining and to keep losing is the hardest part. I wanted it to be healthy and not a rush job, meaning I didn't want to lose it too quickly but gradually over time. From previous workouts, I lost weight but get burned out pretty quickly. I get that motivation 1 week to no motivation or too many excuses the other week. I have been to big box gyms, solo and done classes. Weight Watchers was great but I hit a plateau. Done all the diets, magical powder and "weight loss pills". Looking back now, it's kind of comical what I have done. Enter OTF 8 months later. Start weight was 265.0 and current weight is 208.00 . My plateau didn't have a chance, LOL. I could never finish running on a treadmill. This has been my weakness. Now I am looking forward to it! The rowing is awesome. If you think you are in shape, try water rowing! The floor has all the weights and exercises you need. The coaches are a lot of fun and you will learn a lot. They all have fitness backgrounds. The classes are small, (under 25 people) and the coach is always there to assist. read more

The workout is very challenging but manageable. I like all the support from coaches and front desk staff understanding and explaining in easy to understand descriptions how everything works. It is very clean. The organization of the program and how to do the workout/watch our goals on the tracker board/pace ourselves is very easy to understand even for those new to fitness programs.The machines & equipment are very high quality and have convenient features to aid the workout (fans on treds, best type of rower, and treds large one-touch incline/speed buttons). The idea of numbering every station (rowers, treds, floor) so there is no confusion amongst fatigued exercisers is brilliant. Multiple options to book a class and waiting lists have also been very convenient. As far as how Cedar Rapids might be different than other Orange Theory franchises? --all of the staff is incredibly polite, nice, supportive, encouraging, and knowledgeable. I may be a little biased, but I came across Orangetheory Fitness for the first time in Tigard, Oregon about 2 years ago. I fell in love with the concept, workouts and atmosphere that this fitness studio creates! After being a part of the Oregon team for a little over a year I was given the amazing opportunity to help open the Cedar Rapids, IA location (my hometown!). Moving back to Iowa to be able to help improve peoples lives and promote a healthy lifestyle has been amazing, and the progress the members are seeing in the short time since we opened in March is just incredible! It really is a workout for ANY fitness level, gender, age, etc. and is the best cross between personal training and group fitness I have seen, which is why they call it Group Personal Training! When I joined in October 2018 I was looking for a way to change up my workouts. I was scared and nervous to start training in a large group environment because I am a little overweight and I was self conscious about the floor exercises because I don't have experience working with free weights. The staff is there to help guide you through everything and they are so very encouraging. The entire group vibes off each other and encourages each other to succeed. It is the absolute BEST workout you will ever get in a room filled with people who are friendly and motivating. I love my time there and I look forward to going every single day! I love the variety in the workouts. After 10 weeks there has never been the same work out twice. The coaches are very knowledgeable and encouraging. Fellow class members are supportive and becoming like a little family. No one is yelling in your face and the environment is positive and upbeat. The ability to schedule classes on my phone and cancel when I need to is very convenient and the shower room for me was a big selling point. I live out of town so to be able to work out, shower and then go to work is huge. I am 10 weeks in and OT is changing my life. read more

Each day is a new challenge for me as OTF never has the same workout which is great cause I never get bored! The coaches at OTF CR are amazing. Each coach is there to help me correct my form when it is bad and there to cheer me on when they notice me pushing myself with higher speeds on the treadmills or heavier weights on the floor. I am so excited for OTF to open up. We have been doing off site workouts and they are exercising muscles I have never used before. My body is feeling it afterwards. Love the coaches and staff. I was turning 62 and had not workout on a regular basis for a couple of years. Friends told me about OrangeTheory; and even though I was hesitant, I took the free class. OrangeTheory is, by far, the best fitness concept I've encountered. A 1-hour workout lead by a coach who WANTS you to meet your goals! Each days workout is different, so there's no boredom.
