Have used orchid house cleaning for many years and unfortunately looks like I will no longer be using their services. Used orchid to clean my empty condo a month ago and it was generally cleaned but wanted it to be fully cleaned. Paid to have them come back and clean again as it still wasn't move in ready and it was not cleaned even though I had made specific requests for what needed to be cleaned that was missed before. They gave a minor discount, for the second cleaning which was essentially to just come clean what they hadn't already. Had to hire another cleaner to clean what they missed a second time. Very disappointing given I was willing to pay as I understand the difficulties and costs of running a small business and didn't clean properly twice. read more

My sister is going through treatment in the hospital, very severe medical problems. I disclosed this to the cleaner lady. My sister had paid for the wooden floors to be cleaned so she can walk barefoot in her own home. The floors remained sticky and when she returned after four hours and walked around the studio a bit, it was dirty. One of the main reasons I chose Orchid was because the cleaners bring their own vacuum and cleaning supplies, which most other companies in the NYC area either refuse to or charge an exorbitant fee. I have been using Yelp for years, but until now, I had never really used it to find a service. Although I was a little dubious, I needed a house cleaned quickly because I was in a tight spot. Among the many quotes I received, Orchid House Cleaning caught my attention right away because they were the only company with someone available on a Sunday. Everyone else was only available Monday through Friday. Booking was very simple and Orchid's communication was excellent right from the beginning. They were also very accommodating; they made it happen when I needed someone in two days. Stripe made the payment process easy, and Sunday at 9 a.m. was confirmed. The cleaner who showed up was kind, professional, and super thorough. When she was done, the house looked brand new. Especially the kitchen! I cannot praise it enough and the price was worth it. I paid for a deep cleaning with a ton of add-ons, like cleaning the baseboards (why baseboards aren't included in a deep cleaning mystifies me). However, they spent less than two hours cleaning my two bedroom place. They didn't even get the dust off of the baseboards and fixtures. I took a bunch of photos, and they were nice enough to come back and redo the areas they missed (which bumps this up to 2 stars). But the second time around, they still didn't even clean the grout in the bathroom even when I asked - they said it wasn't dirty but that it only looked dirty because of missing grout. Definitely not true because as soon as they left, I took a toothbrush and was able to easily scrub a ton of grime out of the grout. And they missed a bunch of things like light switches again - I had to point out the issues. They STILL didn't clean the pee off of the toilet seat the second time around either. That's not even deep cleaning stuff - that's basic cleaning. read more

Going back to Cleany because of more responsive and reliable apps. Only reason I wanted to try Orchid was because they accept cash and was able to book via the text. Tried once and I kept tried to schedule another cleaning. Their hours are more restrictive 930am earliest compared to cleany 8am. They stopped responding all together after inquiring about weekly, biweekly and monthly rates a few times via the text. Hiram is not that friendly either over the text. I just didn't want to keep punching in credit card info every time I try to book with Cleany. Cleaner broke the cleaning tools and asked if she can step out to buy a new one as we were about to leave. Overall, with all these time and energy trying to book a cleaner with orchid, I would have cleaned my apartment by myself. read more

Diana from Orchid House was amazing!!! I live in a super old house with super old appliances and surfaces I inherited when we bought the house and haven't redone yet. The stove is white (who does that?!) and the counters are some weird porous material that soaks up any and all colorful food that gets on it. If you can imagine, both get filthy. Don't even get me started on the microwave. Also inherited along with the toaster from my in-laws back when my husband was in college (he's 38 now). We are waiting to upgrade when we redo the place. Anyway... just wanted to give you an idea of the grossness that was my kitchen. Diana got everything SPOTLESS. I don't even have words. The corner of my kitchen floor was sticky and I never could get it unsticky no matter what. Diana did though. The kitchen is now squeaky clean and I wouldn't say that lightly. I am VERY picky. Same with the bathroom. She made everything sparkle and let me tell you... This bathroom is from 1986 in all of its teal green glory. It always had an old smell to it but no more!!
