Me and my girls went here today and we were disappointed! Our nails look nothing like what we wanted. The service was nice they offer wine when you get a pedicure. Although I was confused on the process my pedicure came out nicely. We paid $90 a piece and the designs are not good . We had to keep asking them to get redone and remind staff not to forget things we asked for . If you're going for somthing simple this is the place for you but if you'd like design go somewhere else! read more

I went there maybe two days ago to get individual lashes. For one, they overcharged for them to begin with. The lady told me they were 65, but proceeded to charge me 75. I told her she charged me an additional 10 dollars, and thought she was refunding me only to find out that they charged me 80!!. I went in as a walk in and waited for almost 20 minutes. So I left to get something to eat at Olive Garden near by and came back. Asked how long is the wait and they sent to the back to start pedicure. They gave me a young lady who evidently did not wanted to do any and/or my nails. She kept asking me do you know what kind of pedicure I wanted and I informed her it was my first time there and I didn't know. She hands me a menu of services. Then a young man came in and he did my full set after my pedicure was done. The pictures show's how they turned out. I told him I wanted short nails similar to what he had on. This is why I have not gotten my nails done in 9 years because these nails salons don't know how to do short nails. This place cater's to their regular's I guess. Amy is the top technician and BOSS at Orchid Nails! I almost hate writing this review because I don't want her to get any busier than she already is by spreading the word (more). To start, let me say this- I've been going to Amy for over ten years. And when I was younger I got my nails done alot more often and lived down the street from her shop. She does everything from nails (acrylic tips or natural) and Any style or technique you can dream up, lashes, eyebrows, the works. She is professional but sassy LOL, fast, accommodating (although she will keep it real), and a perfectionist! You will Not leave unsatisfied. Now I will say it may be a wait especially during peak days and times. It is not cheap (although not overpriced) - think -you get what you pay for. If you want a shop that's laid back, quiet, and relaxing this may not be your jam. But if you want a shop that is hip/up on the latest trends, efficient, fast service (once your being serviced, under 45 mins) and consistent than this is your spot! There is hand sanitizer provided. The technicians wear masks. There is plexiglass between you and your technician. This shop isn't perfect but they do perfect nails which is a perfect experience and value for my money! I came here before several years ago and was happy with the service that time so I came back because my regular nail place was really booked. I got a man doing my nails who was on the phone the entire time, and whenever he was actually speaking to me and I didn't respond he seemed annoyed. The whole fill and gel polish change process was very rushed and I was basically in and out within like 20 minutes. His polish job was sloppy, but not enough to Make a scene or anything. I've never had such a horrible experience. I went in on a Sunday afternoon while running errands to get my gel manicure that was peeling removed. I was desperate and my normal nail salon does not take walk ins. First impression. The place is not exactly clean. Considered walking out on that basis alone. But I really really wanted to get my flaking gel off my nails, so I forged on. After waiting a short while, an older female tech came and pointed me to her station. She handed me color samples and said. "Pick.". I said, can I show you a photo of the color I want to get close to (FYI - their nail color swatches are wrapped in packing tape so you can't properly see the colors or put them next to your nail to sample. I showed her the photo and she got excited for a moment and said, "Oh, you want a set." I replied, "No, I just want a basic manicure in a color and shape like this." She told me, they didn't have a polish in that color unless I did a set. That solidified my decision to just get a clear polish. She removed the gel. She cut my nails. When she asked me if I wanted a cut down I said "yes and tried to physically show her where I like my nails to be cut at." She snapped at me and held the clippers to my nails and said tell me where." I couldn't see based on the angle she had my hand at and the dusty sneeze guard in the way. So I said take it to the tip of my finger. Then she proceeded to file. After she filed my first hand, I asked her if she could make the edges "squoval" - which is an industry term. But I also showed her a photo. She stopped, looked at me like an idiot, so I said "or you can just rotund them off." She again glanced up at me. Rolled her eyes and proceeded to return to work. At this point I'm fed up. I tell her she doesn't have to do be rude and she doesn't have to do my manicure. She then begins to argue with me that she didn't say anything and why did I say that to her. No apology at all for her behavior or even a recommendation for another tech to take over since we clearly did not have a comfortable chemistry together. After she began to berate me. I took my hand from her and said I was done. That I would not be back (I won't), that I'd be alerting management (I did and she chaotically interrupted), I sent a Facebook message which was seen and then no response. I would post a review on Facebook, but they have reviews and comments turned off. Probably because others have not had a splendid experience either. I plan on sharing this review with yelp, Google, NextDoor.com and my local friends and community. I also will be reporting this business to the Virginia Board of Health and the Barber and Cosmetology Board of Virginia in regards to the lack of cleanliness. read more

If you like a nail salon that has no regular nail polish go here. The nail tech waited until she had my feet in water and had started on my pedicure to say they only had gel color. Most salons have the dual packs that come with a gel and regular polish version of each color. I don't know if they just decided to be cheap and only buy the gel, but they need to recognize that not everyone wants. So she did just the pedicure, but did a raggedy job of removing the previous polish and a lazy job of filing. Never again. read more

We were on this side of town on a holiday and they were one of only a few shops open in Norfolk. We were going out of town the next morning and needed to get our nails and feet done so we settled on this place, MISTAKE! Upon entering it was dimly lit, technicians on the phone who didn't even look up, stuff everywhere and just unkempt. Heidi greeted us and I asked specifically if they did POWDER DIPPED nails. They said "sure", LIES! The pedicure was ok, the chair area is a mess, but I requested gel polish and they provided that, the pedicure service was brief but it got done. On to the manicure/nails, HORRIBLE! Heidi acted like she knew what she was doing but she had to call someone on the phone to ask for instructions while doing my nails. The process took FOREVER! My cousin was sitting right next to me, getting the same service, powder dipped, from another technician and he never dipped her nails once! He did what you would do for an acrylic set with the powder dip color. Back to me, she messed my nails up!! Lumps, bumps, not fully covered nails, discoloration, and nails chipped the next day!!! And they charged $86 for this crap!!! The price, if it was quality, would have been fine but this was some trash. Just look at tI paid it because I wasn't trying to cut up but never again!! I am from California and am on visit with family. I was told about this salon and went after work around 7:30pm. Julie was recommended and did my nails and pedicure. My big toe nail cracks and falls off and is something that I have had to build confidence with throughout the years. I asked her if she can put acrylic on it and she stated she could. She began to place a nail on the small piece of nail left and it was sticking up from then nail bed . It looked horrible. I asked can she just freeform it with acrylic and she sTated it was impossible. I have had my nails done for years and literally just broke the nail that was done that way the day before. I explained to her what to do, and FYI I am a retired nail tech. I told her what she can do and she had a attitude but then loosened up to do it. I showed her how to do it and it looked good. She stated that the new nail looked better than my old nail. At this time they close at 8pm and it's was 8:42pm and she had just finished my toes. I get up to put my socks on to hurry to get my new set. In the new set she cut three of my fingers which I went home and they throbbed later. Upon coming home I saw that my big toes are drastically different... hence that's why she said she likes the one I showed her how to do better. I called to get it fixed she told me to come now and she would take a look the next morning. I get there leaving from work and she is working on someone else's nails. I ask when will I be seen and she told me she doesn't know yet. I told her I left from work because she told me to come now. I asked does she have someone after that client and she said yes. I stated why would you tell me to come now if you don't have time? She said just give her a second. She finishes the current client and takes me to look at my toe. She then proceeds to tell me she can't fix my toe because it's my natural toenail. I asked her last night to Do what it takes with acrylic to match the other toe and she said okay. I told her that is what she said and she said I should have told her that last night!? She then Tells me I need to pay for a whole new nail so she can file off the fill and make a new nail. How is that possible!!???? It's my natural nail with acrylic! Just put more acrylic and make it match it is simple. She continued to want to charge me to do her job of making my ties match. She is terrible. I walked out. I went to Sally's and had to fix both my feet and hands. Never go to her. Very unprofessional. read more

The person that I go in there is amazing but as a whole their prices are ridiculous. i have a good and I am willing to pay for services but goodness they have gone up long before Covid. for my length and gel polish $70 for an acrylic full-in I think is a bit much. My mother and I go get all the time. It reminds me of my nail salon in Hawaii. They have a pedicure menu, do all kinds of waxing, massages, manicures, etc. I see Larry, my mother sees Heidi. The massages aren't professional "deep tissue", but they do feel good! I'm very hard on my nails, I'm a mother to 3 boys and we're outside constantly. I work on vehicles, gardens, etc. So, you can imagine how difficult it is to keep my nails looking nice. Ben did my nails last time I was in and I explained that even the gel polish will chip. So, he pulled out this box of colored acrylic. Yay!!!! So I've had my nails done for a week now, no scratches, chips, dings, cracks, nothing. Plus the glow in the dark, which my boys love! They are a bit pricier, but with all things, you get what you pay for. As for the people unhappy with their services, on their menus, signs, flyers hanging in the store or handed to you it is said that services will be corrected within so many days if you're unhappy. Came in for pedicure. They did not tell me until AFTER my feet were in the water soaking that they only offer gel. Also on the service menu there's an option for no gel color. Why is that even an option up there if it's not offered?? I wouldn't had even got a pedicure if I known that. When I ask again to clarify the woman SNAPED on me talking about "YES, I TOLD YOU THAT 2X ALREADY" like uhhhh no you didn't, you only say it one time. After that she was so rough with my feet. Throwing it around & grabbing it harshly. So I told her I just want clear coat...next thing you know she comes back with the color I want in non gel. Like why would you lie to me & say that you don't do gel & bring out the regular color?! The guy working in the next chair said he convenced her to give me the color I want in regular so I can leave happy into the new year. (Lucky me ).The girl that he was working on clarified that they really normally don't have regular color. But my thing is tell me that before I hop in the chair & my feet are already soaking. it's my first (and last) time there. How am I suppose to know that. Especially if the option on the menu that YOU told me to pull up! I can tell you that I did not leave happy. I wanted to cry in that chair. I've never felt so embarrassed & mistreated in my life. I actually cried on the ride home. The worker & customer surrounding us was looking at me when the lady was talking so harshly towards me as I sat quite & sad. I'm sure she'll have a wonderful day since it was her birthday. I on the other hand will try not to let that ruin my day. I just don't understand how you can treat someone like that. PRICES OF SERVICES & the quality of products! I'm in town for a quick minute. I've been here once before for a fill and hologram gel polish prior to this visit. Steve did an awesome job the FIRST time shaping up my nails the perfect shape. My most recent visit was horrible....he charge me $70 for a gel fill. He never mentioned the prices after I kept asking. He said $27 for the fill, $15 for the gel white hologram. So I had in my mind around $50 total. Nope...after twice verifying the total he said $70 then said ohhh I had to use the shellac on your nails....so then 2 days later the gel top coat was chipping off. I called him, he did the gel polish over again. If the second visit to fix this went okay, I would've came back. But the whole time he was trying to rush me off. The final result, it ended up looking worse than before. The coats of polish weren't smooth at all. Then the next day the nails were breaking off while I was on travel! Use to love coming to this place it's close to home. I usually come here to get my nails done but I need to find a new place. It's crazy how much they charge and how rude they are now. I usually go to the girls for my nails and I come for refill every 2 weeks and usually when I get a refill it's around $15-20 and now they are charging me $35 for refill that's the price for a new set! It's ridiculous here. So not worth it for the work and how they treat you. I walked in for a refill and they just look at me crazy and while I'm getting my nails they would talk to other customers instead of me or watch a movie on their phone. Not worth it anymore! I have been here four times. The first time I would give 5 stars because the lady who did my pedi and the guy who did my full set was awesome. The second time I went to do my eyebrows and my right eyebrow is nonexistent. So that dropped a star. I still tipped her good cause I'm bout it bout it. The third time I grew my nails out long enough to do gel and the guy who did my nails and pedi had a great personality he made me feel comfortable and wasn't bothersome. But... I think he used a cheese grater. So that dropped another star. The fourth time I went I did another round of gel on my natural nails. She did a pretty good job. It went by pretty quick so no complaints. I just know now that I'll stick to manicures going here cause that's what they excel at in this location. read more

Ok my sister and I came here and our experience was awful. I got a manicure and pedicure and she just got a pedicure. My pedicure consisted of pretty much nothing and my manicure was inadequate (uneven nails) I felt they treated my hands and feet like step kids. They didn't even want to put a base coat on my nails. The decor was nice but the place was dirty. My sis chose the 24 package and I got the 26...I was better off getting the 24 because basically there is no difference. And when my sis questioned the price difference for the service the lady acted as tho she did not understand and blew the subject off. Just know I will never come here again. read more

I had a full set and pedicure done 6/15/21. First the young man clipped a chuck of my skin off during my pedicure, and just put green antiseptic on my bleeding toe and continued my service. Then the older gentleman rushed my full set. My nails were thick and some were lopsided. WHILE MY DESIGN WAS SUPER CUTE the quality of work was piss poor for $125.00.I ended up with fungus under both my finger nails and toenails a few days later which resulted in me having to see a doctor for treatment. Not to mention this was my birthday weekend and my toes and fingers we're swollen red and leaking pus. This was the worst experience of my life. read more

I got my eyebrows waxed and eyelashes done here today for the very first time. I usually go to their sister company, Wynn Nails but Sam was out of town and I was in desperate need to pamper myself so they told me to go here. To start off, I got my eyebrows waxed. I said to just clean them, I like my thicker eyebrows. She waxed them completely off.. Then I got the eyelash extensions which are usually flawless by Sam (they said they do them the exact same) so I like it when they fan out. Shorter in the corners of my eyes and long on the outer corners. I said VERY natural multiple times. I have two caterpillars on my eyelashes right now. Yes, I only spent 34 dollars for both which isn't bad, super friendly and fast. I'll give them that. But I have never been so bummed about leaving. Overall the nails were done great, besides the fact that there are hairs in my gel polish. I had Steve do my nails and the entire time that I was there he was on the phone and never said a word to me. He was very aggressive with my hands, even burnt my skin off with the files. I was asking him about the glow in the dark polish and he never once mentioned to me that it was an extra charge until after he was done with painting. He also got gel polish al over my hands.
