I've been here several times and experienced some of the best and worst pedicures. It's close to home and they take walk ins. It's a cute salon with zero nail product odor and you're typically not crammed right next to each other. I used to get the hot stone pedicure (they don't do anymore) and always a deluxe pedicure because I like a good calf/foot massage. It is in the menu. After my last appt. I won't be returning. My cuticles were not trimmed well, but most disappointing and infuriating was the deluxe, zero foot/calf massage, pedi for $70! The gentlemen (very friendly)who started on my feet was moved to another customer midway so, another nail tech finished up what he started. Very disappointing. I'm not the kind to make a scene. I just won't return. That was my last time. The previous pedicure I had started chipping off the next day (maybe old polish due to the thickness). It does seem like the service here has gone down from when I started coming here over 10 yrs ago. And now $70 pedicure with zero massage is a bit ridiculous. It's not as if service has experienced an uptick in costs. It hasn't. As a retired cosmetologist, I know the steps of a pedicure, how to service and give great results for repeat business. This has obviously changed nowadays. It's all a money grab. This review is months late in posting as I wanted to try it one last time for good measure before deciding to move on. I'm very skeptical whenever I go to new nail salon when I go into a new town, I followed the reviews and this place definitely didn't disappoint. I love the atmosphere. The music was super soothing and I called and made an appointment two hours ahead of time just to make sure that I was seen today and they were able to get me in immediately. I was looking for a place to get a gel manicure on short notice because the other salon I usually go to wasn't available. I've been to Letoile before, and for the most part I've been happy with my results. However, this is the second time that I've gone in for a gel manicure and within the same week of me coming in, my nails have already chipped! I came in on Monday and by Thursday two nails have already started coming off. I'm not sure if they didn't fully prep my nail before putting the polish on, but I shouldn't have paid $40 for my nails to look like this after 3 days. I found this place just looking at yelp reviews. The location is kind of weird, I almost drove past it, it is sort of on a side street towards the end of Janaf Shopping center. I went it to get a full set. They didn't have many regular colors so I ended up getting gel colors instead. I showed the manicurist a picture on Pinterest and she found close to the same shades and she was able to do the designs as well. The shop was extremely clean & quiet. When I say awesome, satisfied, and professional...I say go to Letoile. I'm not from here, I broke a nail, plus I needed to get my nails done for an all white event. I was upset with another place because they said that they didn't know how to do my nails and that the tech was out who does the nails I requested. It was 25 minutes before Letoile's was closing and they took me in knowing that they needed to do my nails and matching pedicure. I'm so happy and I will be back for a massage when I come back in town. These ladies were amazing and also made me feel welcome and not rushed. The service was good and my pedicure and facial were great, but I paid extra for a gel manicure and by Tuesday it was already chipping and peeling on almost all my nails. It could have been a fluke and I'm not saying don't come here at all. They've all been fantastic. This time, I came for a massage before a big test. I called the night before to make an appointment, and they were very accommodating! I came in for an appointment at 11, and they took me right away! I filled out a form discussing my medical problems and problem areas that I want a focused massage on. The room they brought me to was nice and quiet. It was dim, and they had calming music playing. They instructed me to put my clothes (minus underwear) in a basket at the end of the bed. I got into the massage bed, and my masseuse came in. She was very professional and started quickly. She focused on my lower back per request. I went to L'Etoile Spa about a month ago when I received a gift certificate. When I first walked in the staff was warm and inviting and the spa was very clean with nice decor. I decided to try out a pedicure and a spa facial. First I was given the spa facial which was very relaxing, I felt that she was very professional throughout the procedure and did a great job (it took about 45 minutes). Next up was the pedicure. L'Etoile spa has some of the most comfortable pedicure massage chair that I've ever been in, they were really great and made the pedicure even better. A french word does not a day spa make. Except for a few stylish appointments, the nail salon area is pretty much like any strip mall nail salon.... My mani/pedi definitely ranks in the low end of my experiences. I booked an appointment for a spa mani/pedi about one hour ahead of time. Staff on the phone seemed disinterested at best. No biggie. I wasn't calling to make friends. When I arrived, I was the ONLY customer and a first-time customer at that. I chose my color and was led to a chair where I experienced pretty much the lamest spa pedicure ever. The nail tech actually wrapped my feet in the towels that he had used while clipping my cuticles and scrubbing my feet, then had me soak them in the tub. WTH? At other nail salons, they include your calves in the exfoliating, moisturizing and massage-- not here. They go to the ankles only. The tech seemed in a rush even though I was the only one there and nobody else came in for nails the whole time I was there. The nail tech dipped my feet in paraffin and let them sit for a few minutes. When the he painted my nails, I could feel the brush touching the sides of my toes and the cuticle at the top of the nail. He cleaned them up a bit, but I had to run my nail around them to get the polish that was pooling at the edge of my nails. At that point I nixed the spa manicure in favor of a bare-bones manicure. I even had him use clear polish-- at least that way when he did a crappy job, it wouldn't be that noticeable. Needless to say, I left the "spa" significantly less relaxed than when I went in. I have very meticulous ways on how my nails would turn out after a mani/pedi and it was very hard to find a trusting salon like this in Hampton Roads. This is my go to spot for a massage. They are easy to book with short notice and everything has always been smooth when I go. I particularly appreciate their extremely reasonable price point while maintains a calming atmosphere. My only critique would be that I wish the masseuses used a bit more pressure but perhaps I will try asking to see if that is possible next time I go. This is my absolute favorite nail salon in the Norfolk area. The girls that do my nails are awesome, I've seen several of them. They all speak good English, though I know some are bi-lingual as well. I usually get a basic manicure and pedicure for a total of $45. Definitely worth it. They spend a lot of time making sure my nails are clean and beautiful. I haven't had a pedi since I retired, over a year ago but this weekend is special, 25th wedding anniversary, so I thought I'd do what I can to spruce up myself. The location of L'e'toile is very close to me and the few Yelp reviews, somewhat old, perked my interest. I gave them a call to see if they took walk-ins and was told that they prefer appointments so I made an appointment for 20 minutes after the call. On their front door it says "walk-ins welcome".....strike number one for the front of the house. I waited 10 minutes after my appointment time to be brought to the soaking well. Front of the house, again.....I just talked to you on the phone and you said 20 minutes, not 30. Laura did my pedi and she did a wonderful job. Nice scrub job, nail trim, a little short on the calf massage and the polish looks wonderful. She was extremely pleasant. Then front of the house comes over to let her know they had a party of 3 who wanted to sit together so hurry up cuz we need that chair. I think Laura tuned her out since she continued to take her time and do a very nice job on my now pretty toes. $30.00 plus tip = the same thing I paid way back then. read more

The facility is very clean and relaxing- very pretty place nice ambiance. They do an excellent job with social distancing protocols and you feel safe the whole time. My gel manicure and pedicure were perfection- especially since I have super short nails-and together took about an hour and a half. My Brazilian bikini wax was painful- but ultimately done well- it had been 4 months since my last wax and the hair had rooted- that's how that goes. The only reason I give them 3 stars is that the waxer burned my skin during my eyebrow wax. I unfortunately now have two red irritations on my face- which will go away in a couple of days- but that sucks. She was super nice and professional- it had also been 4 months since my last brow wax- so it's possible the odds were not in my favor- but it still sucks. The eyebrows themselves are beautifully shaped. But they use strip wax here- I am used to strip-less and in my opinion it is kinder to the skin than strips. I would definitely go back- not sure I would get an eyebrow wax but I would still go back for a mani pedi any day. Would even go for a bikini wax in a pinch. Stumbled upon this place while waiting for my puppy's grooming to be completed at petsmart. I love it. The customer service is excellent and the quality is outstanding. I always get gel manicures and regular manicures and they last 1 month and 2 months respectively . The chair i was in for my pedicure had a short in it ans kept cutting off.
