They told me they would tell me prior to my appointment if my insurance didn't cover the visit - they did not do that, and now I've been saddled with a bill for several hundred dollars when they said it would just be the copay. Furthermore, it was obvious the doctor did not know what he was doing. He had a bad bedside manner, which I can forgive, but then he also told me I didn't have allergies before even testing me. He also needed his assistant to point out results to him - he couldn't even identify allergic reactions! Total waste of time and money. Strongly recommend you go somewhere else. read more

I have had my issues with Oregon Allergy in the past and I thought everything was rectified and made right. Today, I show up with my scheduled appointment at 9 AM with my toddler in hand to drive 30 minutes to find out they don't have the medication. I'm confused on what kind of medical office doesn't call beforehand to let the patient know they will not be completing their service that day so that they don't have to waste gas and time just to be told. I love my allergy doctor; Dr. Keil. She's been great and reduced my reaction to wasp and mixed-vespids. My only complaints are the shot schedule and administration process. The shot appointment process keeps changing and the app seems to be different each time. (I now only need to go in every two months -YAY--so understand it changing or upgraded on occasion). Also more and more rules about windows for shot administration keep appearing and communicated verbally to patients in a non-friendly way. Guess I miss the good old days of no need to schedule shots and friendly staff. I'm sure there are reasons for all the new rules, but sigh! read more

I was able to get into an early morning appointment so that I was able to get a start on why I am having so much frequent itching. I never would've guessed that thyroid issues could be a potential cause of itching, so off to the lab I was sent-I only had to go across the lot to Oak Street Medical! Quite convenient! I never would've guessed that strong doses of Allegra (twice the normal dose) can fight itching, or that ibuprofen or naproxen or even the coating that Tide detergent coats on clothes can contribute to potential itching trouble. So I'm on an "elimination journey" to figure out why I'm having itching trouble. read more

I was referred to Dr Jacobs but he was not able to see me. Instead, I was seen by Melany WayneNP. I have to say that my medical allergies left me scared of taking any meds. Perhaps a little weary of trusting doctors (even though it was not their fault that my body reacted so bad to a medication) Melany sat down and allowed me to tell her my experience. She actively listened and learned that I have been through different doctors without getting the answers I needed to feel in control of my health. Immediately she sent me to get lab work done. It turned out my inmune system had a mind of its own. Now, I know part of my big problems and what needs to be done and followed up with the referral. In addition to this, I have to say the staff is really helpful (and busy). They have lots of compassion and are very professional. It is hard to connect with them thru the phone but they do respond easy through their app system. This way, I could see my blood and test results and was able to share this many times with other doctors. I waited 2 months to have the initial appointment, but it was worth it. read more

I'm shocked at how badly I was treated upon my first time going to this office. I wasn't even allowed to see the doctor/np I was scheduled to see yesterday. I am private pay (no insurance) for my medical care. I filled out the digital paperwork up to the point of signing documents. The receptionist printed out the paperwork (I never sign things I don't know what I'm signing) and I read the privacy policy/HIPAA document and I disagreed w/ how my medical records can be used by the practice (there are a lot of organizations you won't know who can have access to your medical treatment you might not want to have access to). I let the receptionist know I couldn't sign two of the three signing areas. She told me without my signature on all of them, I wouldn't be seen. FYI.....there is no law requiring anyone sign any document in order to get medical care. By refusing treatment the doctors are violating their Hippocratic Oath "FIRST, DO NO HARM". I have researched this issue and medical professionals CANNOT lawfully refuse medical treatment for not signing privacy/HIPAA policies. I was very polite to the receptionist and asked to speak w/ the manager. She left the station and came back and said "The manager is in a meeting and cannot speak. She'll be in meetings all day." RIGHT! I'm sure she will. I politely informed the receptionist that the doctors/np in the office were violating their own Hippocratic Oath by refusing to see me even though I am suffering greatly from my first ever allergy attack (going on 2 weeks). Not only would I not recommend this practice but I will be filing a complaint w/ the AMA and state of OR medical board. This doctor practice might not care about their treatment of me, but maybe they will care about a grievance with the state. Went here for an appointment and did the skin prick allergy test, I was told this appointment would cost me around $222-$330 and each skin prick was an additional $8. I signed a document agreeing to pay this same amount at the end of my appointment as well. After all this they told me my best bet was to get over the counter medicine from Costco... I thought wow all that just for a OTC recommendation? Great thanks real helpful! Then a week later I receive my claim form and see they charged my insurance TWICE the amount of what I signed agreeing to pay. I tried calling and asking why I was charged double the estimate amount I signed and the extremely rude and unprofessional billing lady said "it's just an estimate! We will not talk to you about this anymore!", and hung up on me. Obviously an estimate can be off, but charging double the stated amount?? The skin pricks were charged at $16 not the $8 stated..... Seriously steer clear of this place, they really aren't helpful at all and obviously have a habit of trying to scam customers and insurance companies. read more

From April to August of this year I was hit with back to back sinus infections, double ear infections, strep, then COVID and rounding it all off with a blocked Eustachian tube (not fun!). I finally decided to get allergy tested and since my health insurance doesn't cover it, decided to do a simple environmental test out of pocket. Oregon Allergy Associates were nice enough to give me a small discount for the skin prick test, so I paid about $14 a prick for 20 pricks, which was a lot more affordable than I expected. Everyone always says, "oh wow allergy testing is so expensive!). I was grateful they worked with me to get this test done for my peace of mind. I did have to come back twice, because the first scheduled test I wasn't informed that I needed to stay off my allergy meds for five days prior, so I had to reschedule. But I'm the grand scheme of things it was no big deal, and I finally got my skin test done which was really easy, low stress and informative. Since birth I have lived with life-threatening asthma and seasonal allergies, along with migraines. More than a month ago, I had an episode of vertigo related to seasonal allergies. It sidelined me for more than a week. After waiting patiently for weeks for this appointment, I had the opportunity for my consultation with Melanie Wayne, the NP on staff. I brought with me results of scratch tests and asthma medications from the last 20 years. Roxanne was the medical assistant who first saw me. She took extensive notes while I detailed my medical history and episode of vertigo. She was conscientious, cooperative, and had a pleasant professional manner. This was in contrast to Ms Wayne. In our encounter, she looked me in the eye for a nanosecond. She seemed to be intent on closing down any exploration of the causes that might have led up to the vertigo. My request was plain: I am 62 years old. I have had allergy shots all of my life. Whenever I move to a new place, I get retested. I showed her 20 years of scratch test results. She glanced at the top paper for a second or so, pointed out the zeros in the columns of responses, and actually said to my shocked surprise, "These results are all zero." I said, "Ma'am, you are not looking at all of the results." I show her the areas where I had a strong or very strong allergic response and protested, "I have had allergy shots all of my life!" She said flatly, "Medicaid doesn't pay for allergy tests and shots." She then brusquely listened to my lungs, which were clear at the time. It seemed to me that she was moving through the steps of the fewest possible actions and interactions of an examination, closing down speech from me, and hustling out of the room. She ordered an antibodies blood test after informing me that I had the option to pay for allergy testing and shots out of pocket. It is one thing to enforce a cost-cutting rule -- which results in worse health for people who have allergies who can't get the care they need -- it is another thing to dismiss the concerns of a lifetime allergy/asthma patient in the examination room of an allergy clinic! Leaving this appointment, I felt invalidated and disrespected. Frankly Ms Wayne's attitude and remarks was incongruent with the ethos of a medical professional. read more

Terrible practice. Charged me for services I never scheduled or received. Asked me to sign the paperwork for allergy shots following my testing "so I would be ready and could just call in and schedule an appointment if and when I decided to get the shots" (I was weighing two treatment options). Instead, they said that signing the paperwork gave them the right to mix up the shots and charged me for them even though I never had an appointment for the shots or requested that they be mixed. I called for clarification and all I got was "you signed the paperwork for the shots"... didn't matter that I told them I had no appointments with them to receive shots. Did not matter that they mixed and charged me for the first round that they never scheduled me for or that I never received, they went ahead and mixed up another batch and charged me for that too!!! They clearly do not care about their patients. All they cared about was creating a bill. read more

I was a patient who just needed weekly allergy shots. I have my own serum that was made elsewhere with a specific plan to cater to my schedule and allergy needs. After a few months of going to Oregon Allergy Associates I began to notice inconsistencies that can not happen when getting shots. The nurses were all in different schedules that never aligned with my specific schedule. When I asked about it, the nurse told me something completely different than what I had ever been told and then refused to give me my shot. After that I took my business elsewhere and have had no problems since leaving. read more

Dr Friesen is my doctor. I was, let's say a little overwhelmed when I heard back over the phone from my blood test that I had low positives for a double-digit list of food allergies-including several huge staple foods (corn, wheat, potatoes rice, etc)-and should eliminate all of them for 1-2 months. I'm doing the biggest move of my life so far in 3 weeks also, so that made the news even tougher, but when I followed up with him in-person today and simply said I was slightly overwhelmed and didn't really know what I was doing along with the moving thing, he was immediately very understanding and came up with a differently-timed plan that's more manageable and not as daunting. He and his staff have been great to me, very patient and considerate, and even helped me get a different prescription written when I forgot to ask until Dr Friesen had started seeing another patient. My blood test was taken at their satellite office across the parking lot which was extremely convenient and both the front desk people and the nurse who took my blood there were great too. The staff is awful. I've been calling for days trying to schedule an aly for my little one the scheduling receptionist said she hadn't received the referral from my pediatrician. I called my pediatrician they tell me they resend it I called back she says she still hasn't received it I call my pediatrician again they tell me that they've sent it twice now and now they're closed today. I'm pretty sure she didn't schedule me because she didn't want to have to deal with it before the holiday so no my little one is stuck with a rash and is irritable because she couldn't schedule me and never called back to schedule an appointment. My little ones already had a blood test to test for allergies this was the next best option but they can't even schedule an appointment with us. I'm so livid. read more

I took my daughter into Oregon Allergy Assoicates to learn more about food intolerances and food allergies because my daughter has a lot of gastro issues. We saw Sarah Kehl MD. She was very unprofessional, didn't give any info at all except that my daughter didn't have an allergy. When I said what about a food intolerance she simply just said there are no tests for that. Didn't educate me at all about food intolerances which is why I was there. Total waste of time. She also had very bad bedside manor. I would not recommend her to anyone :/ read more

I've had an excellent last three years with allergy shots (Dr. Kehl is my doctor at the Oregon Allergy Associates). The shots really work, and to a greater extent than I could have asked for. Dr. Kehl's staff is competent and friendly, and the procedure for checking in, getting your shot, waiting a bit after, then coming back a month later for the next maintenance shot is no big deal. I have not experienced any of the negatives written by another yelper. read more

Although the founders of the clinic (I've heard) are awesome, I can't say the same for the NP who saw me (I won't use the term treatment here as that's not what I received). She was condescending throughout our appointment, would often speak over me and interrupt what I said, responded to me as if I was a hassle and wished that I could just pay her instead of bother her with my allergy symptoms. She then gave me an allergy test but didn't actually explain it to me beforehand, or what exactly she was testing; I asked and then she was annoyed by my question. She told me to wait 15 minutes to see the results and then came back 30 minutes later... didn't even check on me during that time to see if I was having any kind of bad reaction. She then told me that "allergy tests are always accurate, and never return false readings." That kind of assertion is not only inaccurate but also terrifying: at best it signifies a lack of education and competency; at worst, it signifies a flippant regard for patient-care, informed-treatment, and ethical practice. read more

I wish I had the same experience as the person below me. I went in after years of trying to nail down food intolerances. After what felt like the doctor and nurse keeping me in the office to burn time, I finally left with a $180 bill and a referral to a naturopath, stating "We don't do food allergy-intolerance testing." Really? I thought that's why I went to allergy specialists. So my PCP doesn't know how to diagnose intolerances, and neither do the allergy doctors. I wonder who does? From my initial phone call, I received disorganization and rudeness. I should have known to cancel my appointment when I had the chance. If I were you, I'd go somewhere else. read more

A patient of Dr. kehl's. Have found her to be approachable and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the staff here is mostly AWFUL. Beth in the billing office is dismissive and rude, women at the front desk (which feels like the DMV, by the way) act like they'd rather be doing anything except helping customers. The whole operation is overrun with procedures that may help staff - like the weird card check-in thing - but do not improve the customer experience. A few of the nurses who give shots are lovely; others are cranky and seem to live to chastise you for everything. Drs are good, but the overall experience needs an utter and complete overhaul. read more

I had made an appointment with Dr.Kale to do an allergy test because I have randomly been breaking out in hives and swelling, pretty badly, I made sure before I even set up the appointment that it was fully covered by my insurance, and I made the appointment on Monday and the appointment was for Friday. They told me to not take antihistamines all week because it could alter the test results, great. So I didn't take anything all week and endured hives and swelling like crazy all week and just dealt with it to get the best results for this test. Come in on Friday, fill out the paperwork, and go back to see Dr.Kale. She asks me a bunch of questions to see if there's anything obvious that might be the issue. Then she checks pretty much my whole body, looks in my mouth, eyes, nose and ears. And proceeds to tell me that I have chronic hives, cool. And says to take antihistamines daily and hopefully I'll be a part of the 50% that it will end up going away on it's own, within a YEAR. Then she tells me I'm too young (23) and too healthy to do any testing. And tells me that usually insurance doesn't cover such testing (which I had checked before making the appointment and it is fully covered by my insurance) and I asked her a few more times about testing and she refused to do any testing of any sort. So long story short, I wasted an hour and half of my time to go in to see her when I could have gotten the same results from my PCP. I'm pissed! read more
