You can also tip when you book or you can choose to tip at the end. The tour itself was just okay. The guide was informative and had a lot of interesting information. The tour itself of a basement with low ceilings and crappy floors. Neither my boyfriend and I felt or saw any ghosts. Which of course is not predictable. Haha At the end of the tour, you have some choices of alcoholic and non-alcoholic option. My boyfriend and I don't drink beer, but they did have wine options.

We got there a little early and saw that there was also paper waivers you could sign if you hadn't gotten to the electronic one. We left promptly on time, so get there early! The tour went really smoothly, just remember: *Be respectful to your tour guide *Don't weirdly interrupt with side jokes *Don't talk to the people within your group while the guide is talking *For the love of all that is holy, stop fidgeting when the tour guide is talking. *It is insanely annoying and ultimately so rude. There are low spaces, very dark/low visibility areas, uneven floors, steep and narrow stairs and low hanging pipes. If you can't maneuver regular stairs, this tour isn't for you. Our guide's name was Skippy- I believe, they were great! The group I was with had done this tour 5 times already and they said this tour guide was the best one yet. At the end of the tour there is a tip jar that you can tip your guide or they provide their Venmo as well. IDs are checked at the beginning of the tour only for the people who plan to partake in the beer tasting that is at the tail end of the tour (not in the restuarant). After the tour I got the non-alcoholic option and ordered a mango flavored Italian soda with cream, which was incredible!!

The website was easy to maneuver and order tickets with several options for seating (open air car, covered open car, coach car or car with tables.) Checking in was interesting as there is no depot at the Gardibaldi station. You stand outside the stop and wait for the train to arrive. The ride was very slow perfect for little ones to see the views. A bit too slow for me. The history narration was insightful and not too lengthy. The train stopped at the Rockaway Depot and passengers had 30 minutes to peruse the shops or take a bathroom break. I wish I had thought to schedule the return trip for two hours later, as I would have liked more time to visit in Rockaway. Overall, a pleasant experience, but one I won't repeat at $36.00 (with fees) a ticket.

I was shocked to hear from the docent that it was in bad shape many decades ago before it opened as a museum. Grand, high ceilings and immaculate furnishings. The docent noted to me that it doesn't have "old house smell" -- she was right! This is a great place to learn some Astoria history from a prominent Astoria family!

From the steam train all decked out for the season to the hot chocolate, candy canes, bells, elves, trees and yes...the big man himself even joined in the holiday fun! The train ride went a smidge past Oaks park. Enough for a good taste of the Christmas spirit but not too far to wear out the kiddos. Loved every second! Even after the ride, the fun continued. A dedicated space to write letters to Santa (and yes, he did write back!!! My little one loved getting his letter), hot cocoa/coffee booth (they hand decorated each cup!). I'll be back every year. I appreciate their dedication and warmth to all ages.

The sea lion docks in Newport are fun to visit! You can hear them barking from the main street…read moregoing through historic downtown. The docks are located behind Clearwater restaurant. Peak times to view the sea lions is from August thru May, as they migrate south in summer to breed. It can be pretty stinky and loud along the sea lion docks. You're also asked not to feed the sea lions as they are wild animals. Viewing the sea lions from the docks is free. I would highly recommend stopping to see them while visiting the historic Newport bayfront!

We had the most informative and fun tour that we have ever been on. Peter was amazing! From the phone call confirming our reservation up until the time we were dropped off, he was on-it. Very personable, friendly, knowledgeable, courteous,.... I could go on an on with how great he was. We found out a lot of information that we had no idea was associated with Portland. Just amazing experience. We will definitely use Peter again for another of his tours when we go back to Portland. Thank You Peter!!!!!!

We did the WildWood Trail to the Witches Castle! It's a nice hike. Wear appropriate shoes and clothes! 2.3-5 miles round trip. It's a big enough path for multiple people but some areas narrow. The climb down is good but man back up lol you will feel the burn. They have restrooms onsite indoor and then they have a bathroom in the mansion basement. Toilets flush loud don't be alarmed. At the bottom of the trail when you cross the street, there was a porta potty. Map as well. Parking is expensive: weekend Saturday it was roughly $24 for all day! There are benches and picnic tables towards the view! Staff are very nice! Gift shop as well with snacks, plants, jewelry, postcards, and all sorts of items.

Attended the 25th Anniversary of the Frank Lloyd Wright "Gordon House" at its current location. It…read morewas built in 1963, (a few years after Frank Lloyd Wright's death) for Conrad and Evelyn Gordon Wilsonville, OR. The House was saved from being torn down in 2001, deconstructed, then moved 40 miles over to Silverton. We were able to tour the yard, the 1st and second floors. Each space was unique with angular wood work, colored concrete and light pouring in through wide panes of glass. All typical of FLW architecture, which he referred to as "Usonian". Simple, beautiful and functional. There were cupcakes, coloring activities and a pianist along with specialists answering questions throughout the home. My favorite part was the red kitchen and skylight. Afterwards we went over to the Oregon Garden right next door. It was two great properties to explore on a beautiful day. Highly recommend both!
