The website on facebook says the theater is open until 9:00 PM, so we had no reason to think it would be closed. When we arrived, the doors were locked, nobody was at the front, and the OPEN sign was still lit up. An employee came out from behind the corner, saw us through the window, looked directly at us, and then completely ignored us and walked away. No explanation, no acknowledgment, nothing. If the theater is closed, the hours and sign should reflect that. And if customers are standing outside confused, the least you can do is acknowledge them and explain what's going on. Extremely poor communication and incredibly rude customer service. And we did try calling the theater multiple times and there was no way to actually get a hold of customer service and the AI receptionist hung up on us twice.

With little option, we sat in the theater seats before Nicole approached us and offered us a table! She had amazing customer service was going above and beyond to ensure that we all sat together since it was a special night for us! Jeremy was also an AMAZING DJ who was constantly hyping up the crowd!! HOWEVER! When we were trying to give Nicole a tip, we were told to give it to the manager. When we mentioned how amazing she was with giving out goodies and going above and beyond to ensure every party was comfortable... the manager told us she had gotten in trouble for giving us the table! Extremely unprofessional for a manager to share information about employee discipline but also to give said discipline for giving amazing customer service... I hope Nicole actually receives the tip and knows that she gave us an amazing party!! -1 star for unprofessional staff and manager

I have to give a little update to Times Theatre & Public House because I finally figured out the…read moremystery of the screen being up during the daytime. Turns out they keep it raised until about 4 o'clock while they brew beer behind the theater, then the screen comes down later for basketball, games, and movies. Honestly, that just made me appreciate the place even more. I walk all over Seaside trying different spots, little hidden places, tourist places, all of it, and somehow this still ends up being my favorite lunch spot in town. The food never disappoints. Ever. The prices are shockingly good for what you get, and they somehow manage to get food out fast without sacrificing quality. What I love most is the space. Even when town is packed, you are not jammed in elbow to elbow with people. Families, kids, locals, everybody just looks comfortable there. Big open historic theater, great food, quick service, sports on the screen later in the day, and good atmosphere without the chaos. Screen up or screen down, this place is one of my favorites. Haven't been to a theater for a movie in years, and we thought "hey let's go see Project Hail Mary…read moreon the big screen!" When we got in we found that the movie was showing in the little theater (#2). So, not so big a screen after all. The seats were pretty filled up and we were towards the back where there was a faint but distinct puke-ey smell and a nearby sidewall light that shined in our eyes even after being turned down for the movie. After 20 minutes of commercials the movie finally started, and the sound was so low that we could only make out half the dialog. We left after 10 minutes and are done with going to movie theaters.

There was a part with a black actor, dressed all in black and I only saw him because I could barely make out the whites of his eyes. At this point I'm done and left to ask for a refund. The manager tried to convince me this is how the movie is supposed to look. Even took me into another theatre to see it on a different screen. It also looked terrible. It was kinda funny, a manager of a movie theater should know this isn't acceptable. I feel like they got some knock off cheap versions of the film and are just trying to pass it off. It honestly was on par with cam quality. Got a refund and could hear the manager talking crap about me to other employees as I walked away. Classy. Went to a regal in Vancouver that same day to actually watch the movie, it was like an entirely different film! It was wild watching scenes I had already seen and realizing how different it was. There's a part with a spider in a web in the upper corner of a door frame that I hadn't been able to see at all at Kelso Regal because it was all shadow but it was clear as day on this screen. Not likely to return after this experience and being treated this way. I'll just go to Vancouver.
