There was a slight miscommunication between OR Decorative Rock and their contracted driver which resulted in the rock being delivered to the wrong spot and therefore we had slightly less rock for us to use in our project. However, the owner kindly delivered a little extra on a Sunday, which was really going above and beyond. Pulled in at 10:00 a.m., June 6, to no other customers- intent on buying a TRUCKLOAD of flagstone. The (shirtless) attendent who emerged was rude and condescending when asking me to pull off the scale, as i was attempting to tell him I wanted a LOT OF STONE. Now, I totally understand that, perhaps my bold, committed-to-the-sale action of pulling directly on the scale may not be how they do business, and I acknowledge that. The VERY condescending attitude, and unprofessional approach to customer service, has led me to take my business elsewhere. This is a real bummer, as I have done a LOT of planning on this project (around their products/prices), and I will now have to go a different avenue. read more

Everytime I've been they've done the yard weight eqivalent for me on materials as I have a topper so can't get bucket loaded. Even discussed it today with a newer face working prior to loading the truck. Go to pay and he can't or doesn't know how to do the fractional equivalent, so I end up paying the equivalent of 2 yards for under 1/2 yard of material - $80 for under 1/2 yard of compost! The guy even said you're at 1100lbs and a half yard is 1500, hell just charge me the half yard price. Now that buying from them when I load it myself will cost me more than getting 2x the amount delivered, or even buying bagged compost from the big box stores that they'll load for me, I'll just go that route from now on. One star for selection though as they have decent stuff. read more

Need to make a flagstone path or patio? Don't hit the big box hardware stores. Instead, check out Oregon Decorative Rock. They have a very large selection of stepping stones, ranging in price from 25 cents a pound to 45 cents a pound. How does that translate into an actual project, you ask? Well, we purchased about 30 stones (enough to lay out two longish paths and two very short paths). This cost us about $165. Two other things we like about Oregon Decorative Rock: (1) They load your car for you, which is awesome when you're purchasing 560 pounds of rock. (2) It seems that some of their selections are available for a long time, which is great if you need to add on to your path or patio later. We purchased the exact same rock in 2006 and 2014. The most friendly crew you'll ever meet! My husband and I looked for rock between about 5 different places, we had a lot of questions as this was our first project. At all the other places they were very short and not interested in helping us just interested in how much money we were going to spend.
