Food is awesome. We had fish and chips. Fish is perfectly crispy. We had 5 in the party. It took 30 minutes but wait was worth it

We had lunch at the Waldport location and we were so impressed! The cod and the shrimp were both so fresh and perfectly breaded without being soggy at all. Crisp outside, moist inside. And the portions are generous. Some places charge the same amount for just two pieces of fish but here they serve four. If you have a small appetite, you probably could even split one order and feel satisfied as they give you a lot of fries/chips too. I also have to say that the tartar sauce here is REALLY good and I don't even normally like tartar sauce! The new Waldport location is so great too! We felt as though we stumbled on a hidden gem. There was an area for our kids to play on a sunny day while my husband and I peacefully enjoyed our food in the shade. The resort construction was still ongoing when we visited so I'm sure as that comes to an end, this location will be more busy. But we feel lucky to have discovered it when we did! This will absolutely become our go-to stop for our future visits to Waldport. read more

This is an outstanding meal!!! I have had fish and chips this good since I was at Rock and Sole in London England. Sincerely this was some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Wow...ordered the fish and chips (cod), and it was absolutely delicious. The breading for the fish STAYS ON THE FISH, and is crispy and crunchy. Really very good. Tarter is delicious. Fries are salty and crispy. Coleslaw was very tasty. Three large pieces of cod fish cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the food here. We got to watch a little league game right across the street while we ate off the tailgate of the truck. Great meal! read more

Back in town on vacation from Arizona and this is #1 on our list. 2nd time eating here and once again, it did not disappoint. Service is great and the food comes out fairly quick. I got my repeat order which is the cod box. It comes with delicious fries and coleslaw. The tartar sauce is good too. My husband got the combo box which came with cod, a clam strip, fried shrimp, rockfish, ling cod, and tuna. He gave me a piece of the fried clam and it was great. All the fish was delicious in his combo. He even got me to try the fried tuna which I was hesitant about but I have to say, that may have been the star of the show. We usually get the lingcod royale sandwich, it has fried fish and fresh veggies with siracha mayo and it is one of my husband's favorite sandwiches in town. Incredibly fresh fish perfectly breaded and their sauces were a great touch between ketchup and tartar, without overpowering the fish. The coleslaw was interesting. I ordered the lingcod and chips (delicious and recommend) and hybrid is how I would rate each part of the meal: Coleslaw: 7.5/10 (a bit heavy on the dressing, but good) Tartar sauce: 9/10 (a slight spin on the classic that makes it better) Fresh fried lingcod: 9.7/10 (Moist fish, thin and crispy seasoned batter where you taste more fish than old fried batter from most places) Fries/chips: 11/10 (If a girl is going to steal fries from you, keep her away from these and rather take her to Burger King down the street for fries. Had Oregon fishmongers a long time ago and remember it being good. Stopped at the food truck recently and it was just as good. I think they use malt vinegar in their coleslaw, which normally I don't care for, but I ate all of it! It was delicious. I got the cod, and found that to be super tasty as well. The fries were good too, although I should've just opted for the "box o cod" option with just the fish. My only complaint is missing tartar sauce, but it still was really delicious and I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

Something I have learned since moving to Newport is that a lot of local restaurants, not all but a good number, serve frozen seafood that may or may not be local. Even the fancy ones. So we pursue local because now we are local and fresh fish is amazing. Oregon Fishmongers is a friendly local foodtruck that moves around between Waldport and Newport. You pick it up at the truck and take it to the beach to eat it whilst staring at the beautiful Oregon ocean views. Nice, right? It is smart to check on their social media to track them down. They are typically open 11-4 or until sold out. If you are hoping for special items like the fish chowder I have heard much about, go early to aquire that or you will miss out like we did. We have had delightful fish and chips from them twice now. The fish ( I have tried cod and rockfish but they have halibut and others) has a crispy delicious tasty perfect panko coating which we love, and is served with yummy tartar sauce, decent coleslaw ( and we usually loathe other people's slaw tbh) , crispy fluffy perfect fries, and ketchup. First time here, ordered the ling cod and chips and the shrimp po'boy. I have had my fair share of fish and chips and this is by far on top 2 spots of them all. Fish is super fresh and fried to perfection, fries are seasoned perfectly and the coleslaw is also delicious. They are very generous on the portion too, we had a lot of fries and coleslaw leftover. Next time I would just get one order of "box o cod" for the fish as share the chips from another order. Price is very cheap for this quality of food. Wow, that was some fire fish & chips! We drove by the truck although Yelp mentioned it was closed. Their hours didn't match, but maybe it's due to the location. It's fall and most of this community relies on tourism. Customer service and food presentation = 5++ We tried the combo - albacore, shrimp, lingcod, slaw and fries. Whoa ...that's a lotta fish! Hubby and I shared and still had leftovers. The fries were almost a panko texture - crispy and light, the fish breading was the same, light, flaky, and naturally sweet. The slaw was how I enjoy it; heavy on the mayo and oh so creamy. Top that on the fish and let your taste buds scream hallelujah. We also ordered the poor boy which had the same amazing shrimp and slaw, but on an amazing roll! Think Hawaiian roll minus the sweetness. So good, even reheated well in the microwave later that evening. Definitely looking forward to enjoying this next visit. While each type of seafood was incredible, the ling cod and prawn stood out. Comes with really nice slaw and tarter, cocktail, and ketchup. They are located in the Grocery Outlet parking lot next to two nice picnic tables which are great to eat at.
