This is the best view of all the Mo's. we sat with a view of the bay, it does not get much better. the clam chowder was the usually exceptional taste! one must always get it in the bread bowl! the only issue was the credit card charge. when i added the tip the waitperson added the full amount of the bill and the tip together and entered that amount for the tip. it was way too high. I had to make a couple of phone calls to get the right person over at the Mo's across the street to make the correction to my credit card. read more

I've been coming here for years. It's a taste of my childhood. Chowder, I feel, is very personal for people. You like it, you don't, you love or hate different styles and textures. But I love Mo's. Creamy, full of clams, potatoes and bacon, not thick like paste and not thin like soup. Just right. And, the signature paprika, butter and dried herbs on top. Prices are good here, see menu and they've super expanded and added many intentional items recently that I feel we're not a part of it 20 years ago. The seafood sauté is a new fav and I think is up to par with any high end place. But this is a casual family, come as you are joint. Basic, barebones, but in a good way This visit I brought a friend who had never been and she was over the moon! And I feel that our server, Kyler, deserves a big bonus and shout out from management for his quick, patient, friendly and overall above and beyond service. Made us feel like we were his only table. My family and I was crabbing on the dock next door and desided to have lunch here. The Chowder smelled great in the air and was very hungry. We got the bread bowl filled with Chowder to go. It took a while to recive our order but was well worth the wait. The 4 out of 5 stars was because of the price. It was a little speedy for what you got, but tasted great for being soup/chowder. We eat here often and I realized I've never left a review. The place is very small so sometimes there is a wait. The view of the bay and watching the fishermen clean their catches of the day are always fun. The food is so delicious. They do not have a fryer at this location so that factors into your food choices. The staff is the sweetest. Sometimes a little slow with a refill or your check but only because they are busy, not because they are lazy. Mo's is an Oregon institution with locations in a number of cities. It's a great place for family dining and very good seafood. We had the halibut fish and chips and we were very happy. The halibut pieces were thick, juicy and perfectly cooked. The clam chowder was a disappointment as it was thin and overloaded with potatoes. The service was outstanding and friendly. read more

So again my experience and my opinion. So I will start with the food . I'm an Oregonian and like to eat at this Moe's. I've eaten here many times & make the 1 1/2 hour day trip drive when I need the bowl of chowder. I've ordered many different types of dishes here & haven't been disappointed. I also like their shrimp sandwiches. Sometimes a little too fishy tasting. But I ate it. The service is good and kind & friendly. The bay window is very nice. If you like wildlife and cleaning of fish, you'll like the east side view. The lighting is good. (The only downside is it could get really noisy in there) well kids can even be louder. Gotta love kids. So I'll say this. This Moe's you have to try. I do recommend the bay front original Moe's chowder house. Now people know this is a good place and you may have to wait for some time but it's worth. So when you're in Newport Oregon, go to Moe's. read more

When our chowder finally come ( 1 1/2 hrs later she said oh I'll get your drinks. Had to wait for spoons another 15 minutes. Meanwhile in different serves section people that came in after us got food, drinks and left. We had been here before will never go back. Oh drinks came when we were done. Came here on a trip to Portland, and I tried their chowder and bacon cheeseburger. I personally liked the cheeseburger and their chowder was amazing. The restaurant did have a low ceiling but the tables were space out well. I had a view of the harbor, and I liked that view. The food came out quick, and our server was nice. The location is good as it overlooks the water, everything else was not good. Food was bland and the annex doesn't have fryers so there's no crispness to any of the seafood. Highly overrated: even their much ballyhooed clam chowder was merely run of the mill. Many better dining options on the Oregon coast.

We visited this Mo's Annex and had an absolutely wonderful experience.  Our server, Zach, was exceptional.  He was professional, courteous and made us feel at home with his warm smile.  Zack's very friendly service was the kind that every dining customer could hope for. Our meal of grilled halibut was super fresh and cooked to perfection.  The marionberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream was nothing short of dreamy!  It was all a taste of the Oregon Coast that will leave lasting memories. While dining at dinnertime we got to watch a sport fishing boat come in with happy customers and about 15 big halibut that the crew's support staff cleaned. Watching the whole scene, complete with views of sea lions, gulls, fishing boats and Coast Guard vessels right from our table made this a near perfect experience. read more

This is for the annex. Oyster stew was just oysters cut into chunks in cream and butter. Oysters looked canned or something. Not appealing at all. Little flavor and I guess I was expecting celery and onions at the very least. When the server asked if everything was ok, I said the stew was not acceptable and she took the 3/4 full bowl away and brought the bill with stew still on it. This is the little sister to the larger Mo's restaurants we know in the area. It doesn't have the fried stuff the regular restaurants have due to its smaller size on the boardwalk. The view of the bay was beautiful, there was a seal playing right outside the window. The food was also amazing, but the service was a bit odd. We came with two children, two teenagers, and two adults but they didn't bring our food out together. The kids got their macaroni and cheese first and ate while we waited. Then the teenagers got their pasta meals next and they ate while my husband and I waited. Next we got our chioppino (delicious), but all the kids were done eating by the time we got our food. Best Mo's in Newport to stop at. If your wanting great food, great view and quick seat time I highly recommend the Mo's Annex. The environment is pleasing with a touch of a vintage appeal. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had someone in a wheelchair with us. The music was calm set on a country station. The air was a bit on the warm and hominid side but not near enough to make you sweat. Just enough for you to feel it. The view out at the bay is wonderful and pleasing to the eye. This place is wheel chair accessible. The wait time here is typically 9-30 minutes max. At the Mo's across the street it's on a good day up to 3 hours wait time. The food at Mo's is s traditional style with a made at home flavor. The Clam Chowder was warm with the traditional Mo's flavor and drop of butter they add. The garlic cheese bread was toasted to perfection. I will always come to a Mo's every trip I take to the Oregon coast.. I highly recommend this place. read more

4 stars only because I'm not sure what happened...but it sure took a very long time for our food to get served? But I come here specifically for the shrimp quesadilla. Sweet glory it's the best...and I'm from San Diego...where mex food is #1. The shrimp quesadilla here is bomb! I get one every time I'm in Newport. Try it!! I hate giving bad reviews and I'm sorry, but place is very overrated: 1. We waited for 45 minutes to get in and an additional 20 minutes to get our food. Definitely not worth the wait. 2. Their famous chowder was average and had HARD CLAM SHELLS in it!!!! I bit into one and we told the waiter and he was like, "oh that happens quite often." (What the heck??) I had gone to Mo's (various locations) since I was a small child and it was always the thing I had looked the most forward to when visiting our Oregon Family. After nearly 30 years away, I went back with a family of my own. I have tried for years to match Mo's chowder recipe (I think I am close) and I have refused to eat anywhere that doesn't have at least half of the taste of Mo's chowder. Being in the Bay Area, we have a lot of close recipes, but it's not the same. My family thought I was crazy for years, until now. Thankfully, it was just a fantastic as I remembered it. Mo's was really good. We walked in and were promptly seated. The atmosphere was perfectly old bay seafood diner-esque. We had fish n chips all around! My sons was breaded my boyfriends and mine were beer battered. They were so good and so fresh! Boyfriend got it with fries and I got mine with green beans so I could share them with my son. The green beans were incredibly fresh and a little crispy, which I honestly didn't expect and was pleasantly surprised about. Roxanne, our waitress, was so nice and so very helpful. She told me that the green beans are cooked up fresh with Chardonnay, garlic and butter. SO SO good!! The clam chowder was definitely the best I've had in a long time and I'm not surprised that this place is a local favorite. Everyone loves the clam chowder but I don't like sea food. My whole family loves it and when we are in town they must get some. You can take it to go and it is great to re-heat. They menu is great for lunch and dinner. If you don't like seafood there is plenty on the menu. Food is served hot and fast. . This Mo's has a view of the bay. The charter boats come in and dock below the restaurant. You can see them clean the fish and crabs. It's a very nice view; they just don't have every many window seats. Mo's is an Oregon Coast must; don't knock it if you have eaten there. Also the main restaurant is across the street with a bigger menu but no view. read more

My family has consistently brought me to Mo's Annex for nearly 15 years now. During this time, I have experienced a decrease in food quality. Nevertheless, having traveled and lived around the country, I can say without a doubt that Mo's clam chowder is still the best! We used to go to Mo's Annex all the time... having a clam chowder dinner with cabbage salad and cheese bread before returning to the Willamette Valley. A couple of years ago, they started closing early at 3pm. The original Newport Mo's location is ok, but we go to the coast as much for the view as for the food. So the Lincoln City Mo's has been our go-to. It's sad that the Annex has ugly stepchild status...
