I've recently tried the red light therapy for entire body. The check in process with the receptionist was easy and she was thorough in explaining the process prior, during, and after the red light session was complete. During the treatment, it was warm and pleasant. The googles help block the bright lights. And afterwards, I did feel like my skin was glowing and my acne spots on my face did lighten quickly. As the peptide wellness program, the sign up process was easy. And I received the shipment with ice packs after a few days and text confirmation of the delivery and tracking info. read more

As someone who is in the beauty industry, I am careful with my reviews as I would never want to harm someone's business. With that said, I think it is in the best interest of a business to make sure employees are trained well before they provide services to customers- especially when reviews are so easily left. I admittedly haven't had a spray tan in years and when I did it regularly, I exclusively went to organic shimmer. I even stocked their cards at my business and referred clients to them because I believed in their professionalism. So, when I was headed on a tropical vacation, it was a no- brainer to go to organic shimmer. I did a clear tan that develops over 48-hours. The technician (Taryn) was nice but the service did seem a bit rushed and the end result proved as much. 5 days later, the only parts of me that are still tan are my feet and armpits! My feet were so over tan that they looked dirty. OS also no longer provides barrier crème for drier body areas which is a mistake. She rushed over the large areas back, upper legs and stomach; I was multi colored, a human calico. I would say that further training for these newer employees is warranted to uphold the legacy of this woman owned SF business. I want them to succeed. I am not looking for a free service or a refund, just to share my experience for other pale gals seeking an even tan. read more

Was very excited to visit, after reviewing Yelp. Got the quick tan, spray tan package Followed all the aftercare instructions, but the spray tan only lasted three days. On top of that, it continued to rub off on everything. Stained dresses, tops, shoulder straps of bag, and numerous towels. All with a dirty red powder color, that doesn't come out, even with Clorox. May be good for regular tanning, but would stay away for spray tanning. read more

UPDATE: Christina, please don't try to stretch the truth. I came one time in 2015 and then again for the first time in 2023. I am by no means a regular client and my experience was AWFUL in 2023. Quite frankly, I hardly remember my 2015 experience. I had a photoshoot so ya when my skin looked like crap thanks to your spray tan, I was panicked! Rightfully so. I was trying to look perfect for this photoshoot and when my skin peeled off, i looked like a leopard! So much to the point that I had to run to Sephora and had to pay a lot of money for body makeup to correct the problem that occured on my skin. Furthermore, my skin was fine until I showered! Once I showered for the first time after the spray (about 12 hours later), in the shower is when all my bronzer or skin or whatever it was peeled off all over the place. Lastly, I did not insist AT ALL that Chloe do more than what was recommended. I didn't even do the highest level of bronze you could do because I told her I wanted to look tan but not overly trying. We discussed it during our brief interaction because she had other customers waiting so she did not provide the time & effort she should have to listen to what I wanted & was asking/paying for and clearly did a botched, rushed job. Do not turn this around on your clientele for YOUR mistakes. Instead, do better. Hire better people or more people or whatever it is you need to do to run your business better because as it stands the experience was a huge ZERO in my book. read more

I'm from the east coast so normally it's really easy for me to tan during spring/summer, but that's the one thing I've been missing since moving to San Francisco this past year. Organic Shimmer has been my go-to since living here for my first summer, I look back at old pictures from my natural tan and my spray tan now looks identical. I normally go for the dark bronze and it lasts me about 2 weeks. I'm also very shy to show my body around others but the workers here are extremely friendly so I'm not as hesitant to do so. Visiting from Ireland and checked around us to see if there were any tanning salons near that offered sun beds and none for over 40 mins away. The service we received was amazing. Texted the number on their website and the lovely girl got back to me straight away with all the information , upon arriving in the salon , very easy to find and such a cute vibe to it the girl behind the desk was so lovely and told us everything about the bed and even while waiting for my partner she was so friendly engaging in conversation and telling of the company , the bed was of such good quality everything was spotlessly clean. I hate leaving yelp reviews but I feel like I do need to provide some feedback after my most recent experience... Starting with the pros, the facility is clean and the booking process online is easy. The location is very accessible. The woman who did my spray tan was very sweet and wanted to do a good job. As for the cons, the first thing I was a little surprised by was that when I walked in, the woman at the front desk did not greet me. I would've expected a "hello" or "how may I help you" but she did not acknowledge me until I asked her if I could check-in. She could've been having an off day and that may not be typical but I was a little surprised. Regarding the spray tan itself, although the woman that did it wanted to do a good job, I do have to say that this is not one of the better tans I've had. It is splotchy, rushed, there's stains all over me work from where there was excess tanner that aren't coming off, and she did not pay any attention to detail. It felt very rushed and I have very obvious tan lines on my forehead, on the back of my neck, and elsewhere. Unfortunately, I probably could've done a better job myself with St. Tropez self tanner but I wanted to get a spray tan since I hadn't done it in such a long time. I was looking forward to getting this but now I have to spend time fixing it which is unfortunate. I don't fault the woman who did the tan as I'm guessing she was new or distracted but this was not the same quality of spray tan I've seen elsewhere. read more

Got my first ever spray tan here before my wedding: I was nervous, but getting tan for the white dress seemed like a very attractive idea. So happy I picked this place! The appointment was a very quick and relaxing (believe it or not): I was very impressed. By the end of the day after a shower I looked like I've been on a month-long tropical vacation. The tan was very natural, but definitely noticeable. I do recommend doing your research about how to prepare for a spay tan and what to expect afterwards. My big tip for first-timers like myself: _definitely_ wear dark loose-fitting clothes on the day of, and maybe don't schedule any important meetings after. I have been getting spray tans since I was in high school (15 years). Boy have they come a long way since then! I have extremely fair skin and so the tan always looked super orange and blotchy on me. Fast forward 15 years later and I decided to get a spray tan for my wedding. I am so happy with the results. No blotchyness at all and it looks super natural. This place is fantastic !!! I had an upcoming wedding where I'd be running into my EX so had to look nothing short of spectacular. Since I've been living in sweats for the past 2 years my body has not seen the light of day so my legs were disturbingly whiter than Claude , the albino alligator from the Academy of Science . I got a spray tan and WOW the technician was so meticulous and took so much pride in her work , she did an amazing job - my tan was perfectly even and the color was superb and natural like I just spent 2 weeks in the Maldives. I'm also a germ-a-phobe and this has got to be the cleanest , well kept tanning salon I've ever been too . Extra points ! I think the owner, Christina was there and she is such a delight, super personable and sweet . I highly recommend Organic Shimmer if you need a spray tan. *Update* still charging my card without permission despite numerous phone calls to the salon. Unbelievable Very unprofessional tanning salon towards men. My wife has had a great experience here however they are very immature and squeamish around men. Allow me to explain. I've received spray tans from probably a dozen salons over the years and have never had an issue receiving a full tan (what's the point of a fake tan if you are going to have gross tan lines). This salon only offers 'full tans' to female clients but doesn't have this detail posted anywhere. The young lady working squealed and ran out when I went in to receive my tan (probably more embarrassing for me than her). I'm only writing this review now after discovering they have been charging my credit card for the past 4 months. While this location is convenient, there are many more professional options in the area. read more

I was hesitant to write this review, but I do believe some feedback is warranted here. I was a customer of Organic Shimmer pre-pandemic when it was off Lombard and LOVED it - my technician would spend plenty of time discussing what I was trying to achieve and would contour the body for muscle definition, etc. I recently went to get a spray tan for a wedding I was a bridesmaid in. The new location itself is still very cute and clean, but the experience itself was upsetting. The session felt SO rushed- it couldn't have lasted more than 90 seconds for the technician to spray my body. I had to point out numerous spots on my arms where I felt she had missed areas or it looked streaky. I don't know if contouring the body is not offered anymore, but this is the first place I've gone to in SF where it wasn't offered. When I went to check out and she asked how everything looked, I commented that the middle of my neck looked incredibly dark and splotchy while one side of my neck looked like it got missed, but she told me it was the tan settling in, so I left. When I showered later that day my neck was left with horrible splotches. I texted pictures over the next morning and whoever I chatted with was very helpful and said she would refund the charge for the inconvenience (I still haven't received the refund though, but hopefully that is coming) and gave instructions on how to scrub it off because it was presumably dry skin. However I did exfoliate before, and I know it wasn't dry skin because it stained on for a solid week before fading. I did my best to cover it with makeup for the wedding photos but unfortunately it was still visible. I wouldn't write this place off entirely as I did used to absolutely love it and would be open to a different technician, but this whole experience was rushed, stressful and disappointing. read more

As a 25 year resident of the Mission, I should have known there would be a huge culture gap with going to a Marina/Union st salon. I don't usually expect to be SNUBBED due to my appearance in San Francisco, but I was wearing my work uniform, black tshirt and slacks and no makeup. My hair was brushed but not styled. I'm a healthy athletic tall size 12 massage therapist, not a trophy wife. The woman at the desk looked up from her computer for a second to acknowledge my presence, (I won't say greet). There was a cute dog there, but he wasn't very friendly either. No one was waiting ahead of me when I arrived mid-day on a weekday with my Yelp deal. I showed her my certificate, and told her I had never had a spray tan before. Unimpressed , she walked me back to the first room and handed me a thong. I just said I had never done this before...so what do I do? What is all this stuff on the counter? I figured it out as best I could then let her know I was ready as I'd ever be, Without a smile or word of encouragement she sprayed me down. When she was done she told me not to shower for 8 hours or whatever, but I had to ask for any additional tips that usually are forthcoming from a friendly salon person. She was staring at the computer again as I was leaving. I went to her throne to present my 20%- of-retail-cost tip (even though she was the owner) and she actually cracked a smile! who knew what $8 could buy! After a day following maintenence instructions I was showing orange spots on top of my feet and knees, streaks on my legs. I filled it all in with Body shop self tanner & stopped worrying about it. I know my place now, and will not be mingling with the pretty cheerleaders on Union street any more. What was I thinking? read more

So...my little sister was getting married. What a joyous occasion! What was not so joyous was putting her Irish sister who had just completed a particularly brutal Toronto winter in a lilac bridesmaid's dress. It is really not a colour for pale skin. Kind of blends into it. If I was tall and willowy, I might manage ethereal. Instead I'm short and stocky so look more like...a condom. Anyway, a tan seemed to be the best solution! I picked OS based on how cheap it was really. It's only $35 and everywhere nearby seemed to be $50+. Of course I left home too late and ended up spending the difference on a taxi, but probably would have ended up doing that anyway! Loved the online booking which was super simple. They even answered my stupid questions by email when I wondered whether Wednesday or Thursday would be better for the Saturday wedding. Luckily it was pretty quiet when I arrived late to my Thursday a.m. appointment and the therapist/sprayer/receptionist was completely unruffled. We discussed how dark I should go and I got a sudden flash of bravery and decided on dark. Yup, my life is that boring. Picking a tan colour counts as risk taking behaviour. She directed me to a little cubicle to get ready. It's just delightful dressing yourself in a paper thong and hair net so that a stranger can spray you with chemicals while you do strange moves in a booth. The full length mirror in the room made it all the more enchanting. The therapist was great though and very efficient. I was stupidly happy with myself when she told me I did well at the poses. Yay me! She used a clear spray which was great (didn't look ridiculous after) and dried it off so that I could get dressed pretty much immediately. I was terrified of being orange-I mean, I'm a pretty tubby midget...how could you not think Oompa Loompa?-but it actually came out great. Some bits were a bit too dark (e.g. feet/wrists) but that was my own fault because I forgot to do the preparation. 5 days on now and I still have a good colour. Would absolutely use again. Particularly if obliged to wear pastels. read more

I have DARK brown (not tan) stains on my feet and hands. I've scrubbed and used acetone and the color is staying. I told her it was my first spray tan and I got no info. I took pictures if management wishes to see the sloppy job. 3-assembly line, girl rushed me in and out and I barely had time to dress before I was hustled out the door 4-I never got a receipt since she practically pushed me out the door and took the next guest. Used to go to the Organic Shimmer Tanning Salon while it was still at Geary and I am so glad it moved to a more central location like the Marina. Although it doesn't help with the parking situation, getting a tan can now easily fit into your schedule. The salon is pretty small, they have a few rooms so make sure to book an appointment. They do take walk-ins, I don't see the wait being too long considering most spray tans only take ten mins. The rooms are clean, they provide you with disposable hair nets and undies and room temperature is just right (room temp can be important when you have to strip butt naked)! The girl helping with the tan was pleasant and professional. She recommended a shade and I thought the color looked very natural and made my skin look very even and glowing. I got a lot of compliments about my "tan" during my trip to Vegas. The price is also very affordable; most places that I researched cost at least high 40s-50s. Which seemed a bit absurd for me since it was only a spray tan that last about a week. I will definitely keep coming back if booking appointments are easy and prices stays affordable. read more

At 4 o'clock on Friday, I arrived for my 6 o'clock appointment. Lucky enough, Christina was about to fit me in and I even got my nails done too! The mother-daughter duo were both very helpful and efficient in their services. I started with the gelish mani ($25) and Helen did a wonderful job and I loved how the manicure came out thin and natural looking. She recommended a sheer nude color for me to try and I ended up loving it! As for the tan, it was painless and quick. I've had spray tans from Brown Sugar on Union before and this spray tan operates pretty much the same but without the $55 price tag! At $30, Organic Shimmer is much more affordable even though they don't have the exfoliating cloths for me to exfoliate beforehand. Guess next time I'll try to remember to do so before going in! Helen also mentioned to me that they offer facials and since I'm in need of a good facialist, I will definitely be back to check it out! The only reason why I give this place 4/5 stars is because when I called to switch my appointment their phones were automatically forwarded to the vm every time I called! I have only had one spray tan before this place and was disappointed with the streaks and the overpowering smell that lasted for a week. The spray tan at Organic Shimmer was the best I have ever received. The application was seamless and the results were fab! No streaks with minimal fake tan odor. Cancelled my membership back in July and have still been getting charged every month. Since no one at the salon will return my calls I have to file a complaint through my CC to get them to stop charging me. Beware... UPDATE - it's great that business owners check Yelp regularly as it turns out this was the best way to get in touch. They've agreed to refund the months I was charged but never came in and were very prompt in sending receipt emails. I'm not one to complain for no reason so I'm changing my review to 4 stars as this is really excellent customer service. Sounds like the girl I talked to to cancel my membership might not be around anymore... Still, keep in mind it can be tricky to get a hold of people here by phone, but that's the nature of a small business with one person working at a time.
