Horrible customer service ! As a small group of 3, we went to Hibachi area . The manager was very rude, clearly lacking good customer service skills. I've noticed as soon as we received our food, here comes the waiter with the to - go boxes. As I observed around the area, the white folks that recieved their food, the waiter's treated them differently, this also happened 2 months prior at the same restaurant. What that told me is that Blacks are really not wanted there, they will take your money, but as soon as you get your food, the really want Blacks OUT ! I went to The Orient Express for dinner on a Monday night with my family. We arrived at about 7pm and were seated right away. They have two separate seating areas that have different menus. There's a hibachi side, and then the other part of the restaurant offers both a sushi menu and a Chinese menu. We were in the latter. We ordered and shared the House Special Fried Rice (with chicken, beef, and shrimp), as well as the James Bond roll (California roll topped with crab marinated in mayonnaise sauce) and the Bubba Gump roll (shrimp tempura and cream cheese topped with shrimp, avocado and eel sauce). All of the food was delicious! My favorite between the three was the fried rice. And my favorite roll was the Bubba Gump roll. We were also really happy with the portion sizes. The prices were fair too. Our rolls were $13 & $14, and the fried rice was $16. We look forward to coming back! read more

Been coming here since i was like 4yrs old, I'm 31 now. Came in Sunday with my family for my niece dance recital, party of 13. Wasn't busy at all, sat down right away. However not sure if our server an elder lady, was having a bad day but she was rude to everyone in the party. Only refilled our drinks once the entire time there, which is bad. It wasn't busy at all so the lack of attentiveness and just overall service was insane to me. Wow! What amazing concept and experience this was. This place has been a staple in Atlanta for a long time and it is a definitely must go when you are in the city. It has a very unique concept being built as a part of an old model train. It has a very expansive menu with every type of role that you could possibly imagine. You are greeted by a beautiful koi pond upon entering the property. They have a very unique concept as I mentioned because they have Japanese food, Chinese food, Asian cuisine and sushi. We tried the sushi portion this time and I have never seen such large rolls. The super crunch candle roll was my favorite and the lobster roll was also amazing. They have all types of sake both cold and hot as well as a full bar. They make some nice specialty cocktails as well. I was very surprised by how affordable it is compared to Florida and you get twice the amount of roll for less money than you would in other places. you can't beat delicious and affordable! They also have delicious soups with freshly made wonton crisps that are amazing. The yellow tail appetizer is absolutely divine. I also truly love the softshell tempura... It was absolutely amazing . Forgot to snap a photo of the meal, but the Orient Express is great! I really enjoyed the experience I had here. My friend and I walked in and were seated ASAP. It seems like they were looking for a party of 2 to complete the group for hibachi. We were seated and provided with menus. The other party had already ordered by the time we were seated. However, they were waiting on us. Once we placed our order, the chef came out to the grill to prepare our food. I ordered the steak and chicken with fried rice. I also ordered the eggrolls and the watermelon spritz for a drink. The experience was very nice. The chef asked how everyone wanted their meat cooked and was mindful of the person with a gluten allergy at the table. Our chef also seasoned all of the food to taste; it was a lovely experience. He also did the normal hibachi show, which was great. The food was really good. I really enjoyed the fried rice! The shrimp, chicken, and steak were also really good. I liked how he seasoned the meat with teriyaki sauce which gave everything a new flavor. The egg rolls were also very good. I was a little bothered by the fact that the chef made to-go orders while preparing our food. It felt a little off, but our food was served. There is no better value for lunch than Orient Express. You get soup or salad, spring roll, fried rice, and entree for under $15. Their service is super fast and the staff is attentive. The entry is an old train car which is really cool. They have hibachi, Chinese, and sushi service. I usually get the shrimp lo mein with the fried rice and love it. I sometimes ask for the ginger sauce and garlic butter from the hibachi side to add to the rice. I usually can't finish all of my food since it's basically a 3 course meal. We actually really enjoy this place. I personally have been coming here for years (I had a birthday dinner here in high school 15+ years ago) and my husband and I now live in the area and have come here a few times. There are two sections, a Japanese and a Chinese, but from what I can tell it doesn't matter where you sit - you can order off of both menus. I think the Japanese side is quieter as the Chinese side has a hibachi component. What I think stands out more is wether you are seated in the train car vs the rest of the dining areas, vs on the outdoor patio. The train car feels like hat you expect the restaurant to be like based on the name and exterior. It's a bit kitschy, but in a good way. It's a unique fun experience and it's pretty with it dark moody vibe and little crystal chandeliers. For whatever reason this space is always empty when we have been here the past few times - I have no idea why. We used to alwas be seated here when I was young. The rest of the dining room feels like a mi to upscale Asian restaurant out of the mid 200s (which I assume was when they past updates) it's not bad just not fresh we;ll say. I enjoy the atmosphere. And the patio is lovely with its koi pond (always a hit with kids - I always see them squatted by the edge look at the fish) and Vinings as your backdrop. Food is solid. I imagine not the most authentic ever but its good. I have a stomach condition so I'm not able to be a very adventurous eater anymore so ambiance is what maters to me more often these days. We typically get a few rolls and share a plate off of the Chinese menu along with drinks. I do tend to really like every drink I've ever had here and I'm someone who likes to try something off the menu rather than order something standard. I can't speak to dessert - we usually walk across the street to Cold Stone (directly across the street so you don't have to move your car) Some of the issues that caused me to not give it a full 5 stars: 1. The parking is bad. There not enough and if you have to park in the overflow lot in the back by the tracks it doesn't feel super safe at night. Then there's the issue of getting out. It's along that stretch of road that backs up regularly. This makes it very difficult to get out of the lot. I have waiting 15+ min just to exit the parking lot due to traffic just not allowing me to enter. 2. It's also a bit pricy but the food and drinks are good and there's a lot of options so it's not crazy or unreasonable. read more

I was invited to my brother birthday dinner and it happen to be at a place I've never visited Orient Express . I was excited to try a different hibachi place that's was different than the rest I've tried over the years . I must say the ambiance is not bad but the clutter leading to the bathroom had me off for a second because I thinks it's where most of the storage is , so after I walked around that the dining experienced wasn't the best but it was manageable. I had hair in my food but they did it completely over . The pros of the location is the location it's in Busy area but it's unique and if only they can tap into the uniqueness of the location and what it takes to be the better version of hibachi it would great . Hubby bubby boo bear started with a seaweed salad and spring rolls as a warm up.... He's a third year at the Atlanta School of Magic and Wizardry (top 35% in his class) and boy has he learned a lot. He made that ish disappear faster than the flaming volcano could erupt! Hubby then ordered double rice, double shrimp, double chicken and got the left over veggies the chef over cooked. The sheer volume of food was disgusting but hubby pulled through and licked his plate clean! I still can't figure out how he isn't top 10 in his class because he can make anything disappear ;) I will say the bank account took a hit after we saw the bill but that was expected given the unprecedented inflation bestowed upon us by our elected officials. I wish my last name was Biden so I can have my personal hibachi chef and never pay for gas! The only downside to date night with hubby was having to take out a second mortgage on our house to pay the bill. Decided to visit this location about hearing rave reviews. We went at lunchtime in an effort to take advantage of lunchtime savings . Much to our dismay - the lunchtime prices weren't that cheaper...but you got what appeared to be a dinner size portion.. so that's cool I guess. Anyhow, we ordered a sushi roll to share and each got something from the hibachi menu. The cook came out fairly quickly, confirmed our orders and got to work. He was friendly and put on a good show. The three lost stars accountated for the food being terrible and the yum yum sauce really terrible. Our food was teribly charred and had such a burn taste and the yum yum sauce was ... my goodness..... was liquidly and tasted like vinegar maybe? Not sure of the exact flavor, but not good at all. The Mongolian chicken tasted like the hibachi grill and the beef and broccoli was so doused in brown sauce that I felt the headache coming on after two bites. I always have good experiences at Orient Express! First, you should know it's called the Orient Express because they've converted a train car into the entrance of the restaurant and it's right by the train tracks in Vinings. In the warmer months, the outside even has a patio area. In the past, I've always gone and sat down to Chinese food. I'm not a huge sushi fan, so this was my first go to. Recently I've been to the hibachi side and it is just as great of an experience. If you're getting Chinese, I suggest the house Lo Mein or the sesame chicken. At hibachi I got the steak and shrimp hibachi. Appetizers, sushi, and drinks are available in all areas. I love the crab angels. So creamy! Parking can be a bit tight. Especially between 7-8. Get there a little earlier to guarantee yourself an easy spot. read more

There's various food options including Japanese hibachi, sushi, Chinese, and Thai. One side is for the hibachi and the other side is for Chinese and sushi. I ordered the spicy beef & chicken with an upgraded side of fried rice as well as general Tao's chicken. The spicy beef & chicken was minimally spicy but needed a little more pinch where the flavor is concerned. That was my first time trying it so I'm not sure what it was supposed to taste like. When our favorite teppanyaki place closed we were disappointed because our children enjoyed going there for birthdays. Someone introduced us to Orient Express and we really enjoyed it. The filet is always lean and tender and the veggies are delicious. Service is always good and we always leave happy. I have driven passed this restaurant a million times and finally I was able to celebrate my birthday last night with a party of 10. First and foremost...The hostess was very helpful and guided us into what we saw was an amazing view as if we were in a train. The decor, setting and lighting was amazing. The food was hot, tasteful and every dish was served perfectly well. Our waitress was patient with us as there were many food items to choose from. We opted for regular dinning for Chinese and sushi for dinner. Your able to dine for Habachi as well. You have got to try their: Miso Soup, Gyoza, Edamame, House and California rolls. We also had the Hunan Shrimp, Chicken LoMein, General & Tangerine Chicken. Food was absolutely amazing. Thank you for such an epic birthday celebration. This was my first time & I had the hibachi, but they have a Chinese food section & a sushi bar section as well. Although it's more efficient this way, I don't like that you can only order according to what section you're in. I went for hibachi, but I would have loved to try their sushi as well. This is a review of the Sushi-Chinese part of the restaurant and not the hibachi. We came here because another restaurant closed an hour early and hibachi was a 45-60min wait. So it was not a planned visit. We ordered a sashimi appetizer, a regular sushi set, tonkatau dinner set which comes with 4 pieces of nigiri and 4 pieces of California roll along with salad and a miso soup. We also ordered Chinese vegetable dish. As for the drink, we just ordered green tea and a ramune soda. Before I go into all the issues, let me mention 1 thing that was ok. Of all the food, Chinese dish was only decent food that was not unpleasant to eat. Now the issues. 1). Instead of green tea, they brought Chinese brown tea. I don't mind the Chinese tea, but we should have been told about it. 2) instead of Ramune, they brought a lemonade. Waitress obviously did not understand what I said. 3) miso soup was super salty. We had to dilute it with 50% with the tea. 4). Sushi was one of the worst I've ever had. Rice had no flavors and they squeezed both the nigiri and maki so hard that they were chewy and hard to bite. Neta or fish meat was definitely not fresh. Matter of fact, I could not recognize one slice of orange colored meat. 4) tonkatau meat was thin, and they drizzled the steak sauce already on it, making the outer crust soggy. After I complained about these issues to our waitress, no one came to apologize or ask for additional details. After spending $150, I expected something better than supermarket pre-made food, but I've had better sushi from local Publix. Obviously other patrons who gave better ratings clearly never had any decent sushi in their lives unfortunately. We will never visit this place again. read more

It took more than 20 minutes for our server to come get our drink order, and both beer options I ordered were out of stock. Instead I ordered a glass of wine, which tasted sour and old, like the bottle had been open for some time. My companion also ordered a glass of a different wine, and said his also tasted off. We witnessed a table having to change locations because the air conditioning vent was dripping on them, and the discovered after our meal that the booth seat next to our table was also wet from a different vent dripping. Our order took more than 45 minutes to come out, despite the restaurant being far from full, and was sadly not nearly the level that their sushi normally is. read more

The pork was incredibly fatty, and the pieces that weren't gross and fatty were overcooked. It was borderline inedible, which is super unfortunate considering their high price points comparative to other Chinese restaurants. We've had better food at much less expensive takeout joints, and will be patronizing them in the future. A sad and expensive lesson to learn. read more
