5/5 Yakitori Janbeli I was in town for a business trip and decided to give Yakitori Janbeli a try after seeing all the glowing online reviews and the Food Network hype. I stopped by on a Tuesday evening around 8 PM, placed a call-in order, and it was ready in about 20 minutes--super convenient! I went with the fried rice and the Korean-style fried chicken. The place has a nice moderate-sized space with pleasant outdoor seating, and the staff was really friendly when I picked up my order. Once I got back and dug in, it was clear they use super fresh ingredients, and everything tasted like it was made to order. The fried rice had nice, layered flavors, and the chicken had a clean, crisp bite with a tasty sauce drizzled on top. Honestly, I couldn't quite see what all the major hype was about, but it was still a solid, good-quality meal with great presentation. That said, given the other more affordable options in the area with better portions, I probably wouldn't go back on my next visit. Yakitori Jinbei was an ok option that seemed to have more misses than hits. While the inside is cool with a sushi bar and some solid service, I think the meal itself was where something was missing. I shared the Karaage and Korean fried chicken with my friends and didn't find either to be something I would reorder, however I will say that my friends all spoke highly of the Korean fried chicken. For my main, I had the Wagyu Maki and it didn't live up to the expectations or price at all. We finished off with the mochi which was very tasty. I'll caveat this all with adding my friends who had the ramen and fried rice enjoyed their meals a lot more than mine. This could be a result of just ordering better items or just having a one-off bad experience myself. Overall, I think if you're avoiding seafood then Yakitori Jinbei might not be the best place to try in my personal experience. read more

The restaurant itself isn't very large but they were really kind in accommodating our group of 12. We did split into two areas. We came right around 5:30pm on New Year's Day. Guy Fieri has visited Yakitori Jinbei! They marked a couple of Guy's favorites on the menu. We got the Korean Fried Chicken and it was amazing - highly recommend. It was very crunchy and not at all dry. We shared a couple maki rolls at our table and had the premium nigiri set. All were really tasty. We also got the Kimchi Okonomiyaki - also really good. What a great mix of Korean and Japanese cuisine! Definitely try the Korean fried chicken - one of the best I've had in Atlanta but be careful, because the portion size is HUGE which only makes it perfect to share with the whole table. The food here was good. The Ramen is highly recommended. It is as rich in flavor, but was not traditional in what I am used to. The noodles aren't like the noodles at Okiboru and the quality isn't on that level, but that isn't saying much. I would put this a few tiers below. However, I enjoyed it and would come back. The ambience isn't that nice as it is in a strip mall on Cobb Pkwy near Truist. The sushi was decent. It wasn't super fresh but not bad. The service was pretty solid. Small restaurant so you are sitting close to the table next to you (similar to in Europe). Service was excellent! I don't like Sake by itself so I was happy to see that they had Sake cocktails. Yakitori J is a solid choice for sushi and ramen in Smyrna. I've usually get ramen but I've had sushi a couple of times. The sushi, to me, isn't anything to crave but the yum yum roll is my go to there. I enjoy their Tonkotsu ramen although the broth isn't as rich as I like it. Another stand out is the Korean fried chicken, it had the perfect amount of spice. I usually order delivery but the couple of times I've eaten there, the service has been good. This was an excellent spot for ramen on a cold and rainy night! Just the perfect food for the weather, and it was SO flavorful. I had the pork tonkatsu, and it was so full of flavor, with tons of noodles and toppings. It was so much food that I was able to save half of it for lunch the next day. The crispy fried chicken appetizer that we split for the table was so excellent I would have loved it as a main dish. Can't believe I had to share it, haha. Came here for lunch on a weekend, their space is pretty small and definitely can get busy. We ordered the takoyaki, tonkatsu ramen and the katsu rice bowl. The takoyaki was really good and crispy and I liked all the sauces that were on it. The dish itself was also pretty flavorful. The ramen was okay, the broth was pretty good and flavorful but a little on the saltier side. I definitely would have enjoyed it more if there were more toppings, though, we did omit the bamboo shoots . The rice dish was okay, the katsu was no longer crispy, and I thought was rice was a little on the drier side. Overall, the service and nice and I would definitely come back to try other dishes! We tried the Korean fried chicken, the oyakodon, and the tonkotsu ramen, and all three were absolutely delicious and need to be tried! The Korean fried chicken was insanely crispy and cooked perfectly. The spicy Korean sauce was incredible, sweet, spicy, and glossy! But fair warning, it's gloriously messy. Totally worth it. The Oyakodon was the standout for me. The chicken and egg were unbelievably flavorful, and the rice underneath soaked everything up beautifully. The tonkotsu ramen was very good overall. The chashu pork was moist and tender with no hint of being overcooked, and the broth was deeply flavorful and satisfying. The noodles were solid, though not especially memorable, and the soft-boiled egg seemed to be a plain one rather than a marinated ajitsuke egg, which I was expecting, but it was still good and didn't take away from the dish. Service was friendly and smooth throughout our visit. Everything came out in a timely manner, and the staff was attentive without being overbearing, which made the meal feel relaxed and enjoyable. I found this place on Yelp looking for Ramen restaurant because that is what I was craving. Let me tell you, this restaurant is a hidden gem! My husband and I came here in the middle of the week and realized that there was a wait for this restaurant. Wow, and it was not even the weekend! For our appetizer, we ordered Takoyaki - $6.00. The Takoyaki is octopus puffs mixed with green onions, topped with takoyaki sauce, ponzu aioli, and bonito flakes. It was very tasty! For our entree, we both ordered the Katsu Curry Ramen - $15.00. The Katsu Curry Ramen consists of rich pork and chicken curry broth topped with sauteed cabbage, carrots, corn, chopped spring onions, soft boiled egg topped with fried panko crusted pork cutlet. O-M-G was this ramen DE-LICIOUS!! Mind you, although it says its Guy Fiery's favorite dish on the menu, this was not the reason we ordered this dish. We also got the shrimp fried rice which was delicious just wish they added more shrimp and we also had the spicy salmon roll which was divine!! The Tan Tan ramen stood out to me but I did not want pork. The waitress was able to substitute the pork with chicken for me. We also ordered the Tempura shrimp roll and bacon wrapped brussels. I found Yakitori Jinbei from a food blog and really liked the story behind this little unassuming restaurant, the fact that Guy Fieri raved about it was enough to get me interested in checking it out and I am so glad we did. The place is small, with only a dozen tables maybe. We were greeted and seated right away by a friendly hostess. The menu has a good variety with sushi, ramen, and also some Korean dishes. I normally have doubts when restaurants try to serve multiple cuisines because more often than not, the dishes all come out average. But this was not the case. We ordered the Nigiri platter, Korean fried chicken, takoyaki, Naruto ramen, and katsudon. My favorite was probably the Nigiri platter - it comes with 8 pieces of sushi chef's choice. I was beyond impressed of the quality and freshness, it was almost like we were eating Omakase level sushi but at a much cheaper price ($29) The Korean fried chicken was my second favorite! I've had a ton of Korean style fried chicken and this was probably my favorite so far. Super crunchy on the outside and juicy tender on the inside. My bf really enjoyed the Naruto Ramen and the katsudon was super flavorful! Definitely don't miss this place if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed! We were very pleased. My wife say this spot on Diners, Drive-In, and Dives. I looked them up and we planned dinner. It was great. We had a little bit of an extra wait even though we were on the waitlist, but was was worth it. I started with the pork dumpling with Mysago sauce and had the Curry Ramen with pork for dinner. Everything was delicious, served hot, and so full of flavor. The sushi is delicious, flavorful, and they have Koren and Japanese varieties that are often not ascertained at other spots, but the pieces are rather small. Parking is ample in the private lot and they have the menu listed with Guy Fieri's faves. It is a smaller spot so the waits are rather long when they are busy, but I do recommend getting on their waitlist. read more

We Finally stopped here on our way back from Macon, at the suggestion of Guy's "Diners Drive ins and Dives" My daughter had to stop to finish her last final of the semester, so why not have lunch? Completely worth the stop! We tried the Saketini ( refreshing , sweet, and cold) Katsu Curry Ramen, Beef Bulgogi rice bowl and Spicy sticky wings. We were seated quickly, but definitely a fine casual place and not a nicer establishment from the aesthetics alone. Restaurant looks like it needs a deep clean. Service here was below average. Water was never refilled and I finished both of our cups of water and still no refills. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and my boyfriend ordered a Spider Roll. I thought my ramen was good and a had a good flavor and plentiful noodles. Grabbed some dinner on a weeknight with a business colleague. Short wait but the people were pleasant and the checkin system worked well. Grabbed the rice bowl with teriyaki salmon. It came with veggies but way to sparse for my liking. Needed much more broccoli and carrots and a little less steaming as the broccoli lost its crunch.
