We have been to this restaurant many many times over the last 15 years. We always order take out and the portion sizes are quite large and they always pack it up so neatly so there are no spills in the car. I highly recommend the eggplant in garlic sauce. It is by far our favorite and the tender eggplant just melts in your mouth. Our other go tos are the vegetable lo mein and the kung pao vegetables with tofu added. The food here was terribly bland. We ordered several dishes that are supposed to be spicy but they were completely flat. They also offered "free" fried rice with just about any dish, but it was actually just really dry brown rice. No veggies or anything, just plain brown rice. We ordered 2 chicken entrees and a beef entree, and between the three of them there MIGHT have been enough meat for ONE entree. The egg rolls were like over-fried flautas, and didn't really resemble egg rolls in look or taste. I also asked for specific condiments like hot mustard and soy sauce. We had 3 entrees and two appies and got 2 packets of soy. Inside, the place was dingy and smelled of rancid grease. They also had a sign up that said "No Cholesterol," and "We use vegetable oil." I'm sorry, but anywhere you fry stuff, no matte what the oil, there's cholesterol! The price was cheap but I would prefer to pay more and get quality food. read more

I walked in there one day and waited to be seated. The place was pretty much empty so I thought I could just sit anywhere since no one was really coming to help me. So the minute I sat down this Asian lady walked towards me I said I couldn't sit there and she moved me over to a different place but with a really bad attitude. I really wanted to walk out but at the same time I was really hungry. So this Asian lady gave me a really bad attitude when I asked her some questions regarding some menu items. Eventually the food came out and it must've been the The worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. I'll never go there again and I will never recommend this place. Pretty unassuming place in a bustling plaza. I would say that this is the place for slow food--not your everyday Panda Express. It is for a good reason, they take their time to prepare their food, so make sure that you plan accordingly to enjoy your time there. It is run by only two people, a sweet lady that runs front of the house and an older gentleman manning the kitchen. The food was Of Cantonese fare, think clean, subtle flavors that warrant some savoring as you dine. We ordered the steamed dumplings for starters which were fine, nothing too amazing about them. Our entrees were their daily special (orange chicken, spring roll, and cashew chicken) which is their American-Chinese fare, and the Egg Foo Young (deep fried omelette. The food in general was average but you can tell that it was freshly prepared and served piping hot with the essence of the wok (you can smell the nice char and smokiness from the dishes!). The prices were extremely affordable and the portions are very satisfying! Granted, it's not a major chain like Din Tai Fung or Fun Noodle House so adjust expectations accordingly. It has been a long time since a review on this restaurant. We had a nice dinner here and can verify that it is REALLY Chinese. Authentic, Cantonese and other regional flavors and no MSG. You get the true flavor from the food Certainly not a fancy atmosphere at all. The focus is on the food...my kind of place. The salt and pepper shrimp is how it is across the Pacific pond: whole shrimp, lightly coated and fried crisp, accented with jalapeno peppers. Try them with the hot mustard. The lettuce chicken was so good that my wife said that she would have been happy for that as her meal. It was good and a great appetizer on hot days, like the 100F here in El Paso today. She had the chicken with ginger and green onion. Very good and lots of ginger. Jasmine tea is the regular brew and the pot stayed full. You can ask for what you want, as my wife did seeing ginger scallion beef and asked for it with chicken. You can substitute ingredients, like if you don't like mushrooms, to be left out. Easy as all meals are prepared when ordered. Students can have a lunch of two items off of the buffet, along with a can of soda for $4. THAT is a deal and a nice way to support struggling students. Good for her! Owner circulates and likes to chat with you. Ask about meals as she will be happy to explain the dishes. I want to give 0 stars, but we cannot. We walked in and the owner/server was in a bad mood from the moment we walked in. She had a look on her face that was disgusting. She was rude at every interaction that we had with her. The food took a very long time, which we didn't even eat. She was condescending about us not understanding the menu. My daughter and I were craving good cheap Chinese food and I guess two out of three of those things was the best I could hope for. Prices were low, the food was Chinese, but the taste was not worth even the low price. The egg drop soup was slimy and way too hot. I burned my tongue right out of the gate. My daughter ordered the apple iced tea which was very synthetic tasting. Spring rolls and breaded shrimp were very average. She had the chicken lo mein and I had sweet and sour chicken. All were served so hot we had to wait a long time for everything to cool and still I managed to burn my tongue a second time. Finally, we've found a decent Chinese restaurant near our house. The owner and main chef are Cantonese and from the several conversations we have had with them, they take what they serve in the restaurant much more seriously than your average small Chinese food restaurant. If you're not sure about what to order, I wouldn't hesitate to ask the owner what she recommends, she'll definitely steer you in the right direction as she has done for me several times. The fish in black bean sauce was phenomenal and a great deal for 10 bucks. This place is head and shoulders above any other Chinese place on the west side. I've known the lady since I was 4 years old. She practically my food-mom, I love the food and you can tell they love making it. Her husband is the sweetest man, very shy but adorable! I love that my family and I can call them up any time to deliver our delicious food. I love the Beef Udon, Vegetable Lo Mein, Shrimp Fried Rice Noodles, Egg and Spring Rolls, and Lettuce and Minced Chicken. Do not be afraid of the bad reviews, people complain of the way she speaks but clearly have never met another chinese person LOL! She's loud but not rude. I would say that the fooooooood is reallly good, especially the 4 dollar student special. BUUUUUTTTTTT the service is REalLY aggressive. The first time I went during lunch at school, she looked at me like I was a piece of shit. This nice little asian man comes out with honey sesame chicken and some noodles. He says very "gently" noodles or rice? I respond with noodle. He gives me the noodles and the honey chicken. This gentleman was very very very nice and patient. Once I got mai foods, he bowed his head and i basically left. And that was basically my experience. NOW TIME FOR THE FOOOD!!! The chicken was smothered in sauce (in a good way). It was very flavorful but the only problem was some pieces were soft like normal chicken, and some were super tough. The noodles were slurp worthy. If I could give this place no stars, I would. We ordered this for delivery. I can say the wait time was not very long. All of the food we ordered was there, however my sesame chicken was not tossed in the sauce at all. When I did take a bite,I couldn't. The chicken was too tough to chew. I tried some of my husband's general chicken and that was gross too! The rice was burnt and the worst part about it was,we discovered there was a piece of green chewing gum stuck to the rice container. The scenario gets worse. I've ordered food from here about six times. The last three have been delivered, the first were to go orders. They're fast, polite, and the food is always hot and tasty. We mostly get teriyaki chicken, general Tsao's, (prob spelled that wrong), sesame chicken (my fav) and veggie lo mein. The only negative that I can think of is that sometimes it's difficult for me to understand them over the phone. My bad hearing plus a heavy accent are not a great combo... speaking of combos, they've got great lunch combos for a good price! This place is horrible! My husband ordered shrimp fried rice and beef fried rice like for the millionth time and has never had a problem. Then this last time the rice was burnt so he took it back and requested his money back they offered to remake his food but we were on our way to an event so they said for him to come back the following day. Well he goes back and they tell him that he ate almost all of it so they were going to give him a little bit. My husband tried to explain to her the lady that is the cashier the he couldn't eat it because it was burnt. The condition of the restaurant is so terrible, the trays they serve food on has mold on them and it's never cleaned.
