My wife had purchased a few inexpensive Oriental plant stands and they were on their last legs. I started looking for quality replacements on the Internet because I do not drive and it is difficult for me to get around. I found Oriental Furnishings and became intrigued. Their selection was amazing. However, most importantly was their reviews. Every one I read was favorable or better. (Yes they can be better than just 5 stars) I decided on 2 rosewood plant stands and a rosewood coffee table but I wasn't sure if the colors matched. So I called their phone number and spoke to Bill. (who I later discovered that he was an owner) He couldn't have been nicer. He listened to my needs and put me on hold to check if the colors matched and if they were still in stock. Within minutes he returned with "yes" to both questions. I had asked if it was possible to have the items delivered into my home since I am 69 years old and disabled. He said he would arrange it but it might take 2 weeks. I said fine and I was very satisfied. He called me the following week and said they could be delivered in 2 days, a Friday. That was fine with me. At approximately 11:00 am an SUV drove up to my home. It was my furniture. The gentleman knocked on my door and asked if I was expecting a delivery. I said yes and he started to bring them. I told him that Bill, who I spoke to on the phone, was a really nice guy and extremely helpful. He then introduced himself as Bill. He told me his driver didn't show up today so he drove from Connecticut to Long Island to deliver my furniture. Without me asking, he unpacked and checked everything to make sure they were ok. He even removed the packing material. I have to say, they were beautiful. The colors were perfect and I couldn't be happier. In this day and age it is very rare that you find someone that is so considerate and caring of others. My entire dealings with Oriental Furnishings was fantastic and I highly recommend that you look there for you Oriental furniture and decorating needs. You will not be sorry. If you remember, in the beginning of my review, I said a company could be better than 5 stars. Now you understand why. I purchased a Chinese Silk Shanghai Crystal Table Lamp from the Oriental Furniture Warehouse in Norwalk, CT in May of 2022 (shipped May 21, 2022) in the amount of $95.18 (including shipping and taxes). When the lamp stopped working on March 15, 2023. I contacted the store and was told by the representative (Melissa) that she was forwarding my complaint to their Claims Department for action and I would hear from them in 3-5 days. I received a call on March 22, 2023 and this representative said that I should look for a lamp repair shop in my area to get the lamp repaired - that perhaps it was just a loose wire or something like that. He suggested a local repair shop where I could get the lamp repaired. When I inquired whether I would be reimbursed for the repair since the lamp was less than a year old, I was told that even though Oriental Furniture Warehouse stand behind their products, his manager said that they do not reimburse their customers for defective products. I have purchased other items from this store and have not encountered a problem like this in the past. Needless to say, this outcome is unacceptable and I certainly cannot recommend this establishment. read more

I have purchased several items from this store and haven't had any issues until my last purchase. The item has serious glazing errors, resulting in 'dripping' streaks in multiple areas. 'Customer Service' without seeing the item, insists it's normal. Their solution? For me to return it, at my expense, for a refund of less than half it's price. I purchased two room dividers at the sell price of $25 a piece. Order soon, last two left. So I did. Once I did place the order, I wanted to see if I really was the last two. Low and Behold. It wasn't out of stock. The price had changed and went up to a higher price. Four times the original amount. $114 a piece. Wow. Glad I already purchased mine so I thought. Later, I received and email stating my order has been cancelled. I contacted the company to find out why. They say the pricing was an error and my card was not charged. It was. I asked them to honor the price I was charged. They refused. Upon checking the items price again I saw that it was priced at $25 again. I placed that order for two and yet again they cancelled my order this time without explanation. Money still hasn't been refunded for either purchase. Although this transaction is online, I feel like I'm walking through a Chinese store to make a purchase and am being told "You go!, You no buy!, Don't want your money!, Get out!, You go now!, Nigger!, Nigger!, Nigger!" The only reason for the 2 Star rating is due to Oriental Furnishings customer service. The Shiny Black & Pearl Inlaid Oriental Dresser with 4-drawers is spectacular! I also purchased the Oriental End Tables in Black Lacquer to use as night stands. They are the perfect size for our guest room. I appreciate that it came with a glass top to protect the top of the dresser. I will NOT purchase again from Oriental Furnishings. I was disappointed of the outcome with my order. Even though Oriental Furnishings is a small family business, their customer service and customer care team (Bill, Bette and Lex) are less desirable. Bill gave so many excuses for the constant delay with my order. The most frustrating things with Oriental Furnishings is that they were not consistent with providing updates regarding my order. I constantly had to conduct follow ups. The worst part of their communications is that no one would reply back to my follow up emails regarding the dresser. I trusted that they would be in communications with their warehouse in China to assure that my furniture would arrive as scheduled. It was not the case. I ordered the end tables on 08/06/17 and it arrived at my residents in Colorado on November 16, 2017. The 4-drawer dress was ordered on 08/06/17 and it arrived at my residents in Colorado at the end of May 2018 - 9 MONTHS LATER. By then I had lost all trust with Oriental Furnishings especially with Bill. If you plan to purchase the 4-drawer dresser and end tables, preplan 1-year in advance, so that you get it when you actually need it. Overall, great dresser/product. This store contains the worst collection of junk Chinese furniture that you could ever hope to imagine. If you shop for Chinese style furniture more than occaisionally, you are probably aware that there are many levels of quality at many price points for very similarly styled furniture. Example: Wifey asked the owner what the fabric material was on some chair pads for the "standard" Chinese rosewood dining chair. Owner replied: " I think they might be rayon, but I've never seen silk, so can't tell you for sure." These people are CROOKS!!!! They shipped to me in Florida a china cabinet covered with mold, which was inspected and tested by an environmental engineer to confirm it is MOLD!!! Yet these people refuse to assume responsibility and refuse to return all the monies I paid, and now also the cost of the environmental testing since they would not believe my claim that the cabinet was covered with mold. They want me to accept a defective product OR assume responsibility for all shipping costs, which amount to more than the cabinet itself. I would run as far as you can from ordering anything from this company. I ordered a room divider that came in poor condition and the company said, "There is nothing wrong with it" after I sent pictures. They finally agreed to refund my purchase price after I paid for shipping. Keep in mind that their website says that they will pay for shipping if the product is defective. So I took the room divider to the UPS and it was going to cost $147 to ship it back!! They even sent me hinges so I could repair it myself!! I filed a complaint with PayPal and the BBB with no help. I kept asking the simple question, " Will you pay for shipping" but they never would answer me. It was like communicating with someone who didn't understand English!
