I am a long time customer of Good Goods. The store is a gem as are the women who work there. They have a wonderful selection of fabric, wallpaper, trim, furniture, ready made pillows and accessories. You benefit from their staff's vast knowledge of fabrics and trends and their workroom is top notch. The result is always high end and custom. We had Good Goods craft six pillow cases for outdoors a few years ago, can't recall what they cost but they weren't inexpensive. Today I brought three of them back bc the stitching that held the zippers in place had failed. The nice lady behind the counter who was courteous enough to hop off the phone when I entered explained, a bit uncomfortably but to the best of her ability, that the person who runs the workroom doesn't care to have used goods in her environs, and suggested I take them to my dry cleaner for repair. That's right, they don't care to work on "used goods," even when they are products of Good Goods! I don't see ourselves having many new custom pillows sewn in the near future, but I can tell you from which store I will NOT be buying them should the need arise. Too bad. Dan P.S. I usually don't post complaints, but I feel it's important to share what happened in case it helps others Good Goods lost two of my bungelow 5 chairs and when I spoke with them about it they blamed a former employee (who is now at Darien decor& design) and have refused to reimburse or replace my lost merchandise. This company Good Goods is owned by Artee fabric and home, which has an "F" rating by the better business bureau. Please read all reviews before doing business with, or even worse leaving your possessions with them. On December 10, I left 4 suede chair cushions at their shop in order to have an extra slipcover made for each cushion in a different fabric-which I purchased that day at good goods. I was quoted $60 per cushion for labor, with a completion date prior to January 3. The woman then said that if I want the work done-they actually had to charge me DOUBLE the quote-$120 per cushion for labor. I agreed only because she guaranteed the return prior to Jan 3. Fast forward today is January 15. My cushions are nowhere. I've heard multiple excuses, from a "broken delivery truck", to "they will be here next week". I was then assured that they would ship them to my alternate address. They will not respond to any further correspondence or provide any shipping or tracking information. Shady company to say the least. I'm not the first client to report missing merchandise recently. So now they will be sued for new cushions, reported to the attorney general as well as the BBB (who they will probably ignore like in the other 6 cases). read more

If the owner of this store only realized how despised their customer service is, would they correct the problem??? Or is she just perversely laughing all the way to the bank? Hard to believe that the owner hasn't heard complaints. Shameful that the lack of respect for their customers has become ingrained in their business culture. The saleswoman at this establishment "shushed" my elderly mother (a LONG time customer) for daring to speak poorly about our former president this afternoon. She literally told her to stop talking politics "because not everyone agrees with you". I wish I had something 'good' to say about Good Goods because I love the idea of having a store like this in town. Unfortunately I've always been made to feel invisible when I've walked in. Prices are and presumably quality (accounting for my 3 stars) is high here, but I never get far enough in the process to buy anything. If you have furniture that is dear and precious Good Goods in Darien is the place to take it. They understand heirloom furniture and don't replace horse hair and down with synthetics (unless that is what you want). This staff is knowledgeable, patient and helpful. They have transformed my living room. What was once my great grandmother's tattered camelback couch has been covered with a clean inviting linen and pillows made from an old antique rug. A pop of color in an English velvet bought new cozy- down- filled life to my grandmother's wing chair. And the parlor chair no one wanted is nothing short of a showpiece having used a pattern that was meticulously matched and beautifully finished. Customer Service FAIL!!!! Beware, these ladies are too busy being snooty to help anyone!! Not a nod, hello or even an acknowledgment that I was in the store. Bring your own scissors if you even think about wanting a swatch! Ha! I just moved to Darien and I have A LOT of designing to do for my new house. Too bad these ladies lost a customer who would have paid $$$ to make a lovely home. I'll be going elsewhere, thank you very much. This place is ok, just ok, Don't work with Ivana she's obnoxious. She's not trained well with customer service. She was not only rude but gave me the wrong advice on my project. Your better off at fabric.com, or Darien Design center or Stark. They're a lot more pleasant. I actually witnessed Ivana tell a designer that her client called for pricing because she obviously doesnt trust her! This was in front of everyone. Absolutely the worst customer service! There were three sales representatives and no one could be bothered to help me find what I was looking for. As I struggled to search through hundreds of fabric samples, they talked over me about other clients' orders. I asked for a fabric sample, and they simply ignored me. When I left, I said thank you, and not only did they not respond, they didn't even look up from what they were doing. I went into this store feeling excited and eager, and left feeling extremely deflated and depressed. Do not bring your business here! No one deserves to be treated the way they treated me. read more

What a fantastic store! I was so surprised to read the last post--I could NOT disagree more. The customer service was excellent and all the ladies who worked there were extremely friendly and knowledgable. They have a wide variety of fabrics that range in price and style. The only trouble I had was picking from the great selection! They were happy to cut me swatches of whatever I needed and even provided me with quotes for a variety of fabrics. I to just recently moved locally and have a TON of designing to do and got exactly needed with a smile. Seems like the customer service wasn't the problem... Two thumbs up for this store! read more

This store is one of the few stores in the area with a good selection of fabrics to take home from their bolts and to order. I have been going there for many years for many client projects and they have an attitude. At times they are helpful but more often than not they act as though they could care less. I recently had a huge order of fabric that was shipped to them for me to pickup. No one in the store would help me get it in the car. They said they didn't want to hurt their backs. They did not have any one available that could help and suggested I find someone out in the parking lot. This was completely unacceptable. Eventually another shopper helped me but they did not apologize or offer to find a solution to the problem. read more
