Sadly this place is mediocre at best. Still liked the spring rolls and crab Rangoon but I would have preferred to skip everything else... Goopy overly sweet and not much variety. The rice had a stale crunch so I'm not sure if it was old and reheated or if it was new and hadn't been cooked long enough. The hot and sour soup was good. We didn't know you couldn't eat inside until we got there and it looked like they were remodeling something. Probably won't be back. Can't say much about the service. Came in for lunch today. This is a small restaurant located in a strip mall. Upon walking in you can see it could use a bit of updating. Some parts were worn. Aside from that the service was very good and polite. Now for the food. First of all how can you beat a buffet for 7 bucks? And the food was decent. Not the best I ever had but some items were pretty good. At least the ones I tried. Not a big buffett but there were plenty of choices and even a few desert items like ice cream. The honey chicken, lo-mien noodles, pork and vegatables and sesame chicken were ok. The beef and broccoli, beef and vegatable, sweet and sour chicken and sautéed green beans were pretty good. The egg rolls and potstickers were not so great. I am not a crab Rangoon fan so much but after reading several reviews here that were wild about it I had to try. It was the best version I have ever tried. There were plenty of other items I did not try as I was too full. Today I discovered the existence of Oriental Garden. Oriental Gardens is a little difficult to identify from 58 Highway, but it is located in Willowind Square. This is the only Chinese Buffet I know of in Raymore. So, that is an automatic plus. While there are other and better options for Chinese Buffet further down the road this place is still worth the price and the food is fairly good. The buffet itself did not have a huge selection but remember, small town, limited options and something is better than nothing. The carry out menu has a wider variety of selections than the buffet offers, as is the case with most Chinese buffets. The carry out menu has your typical selections you find most anywhere. The restaurant has a hometown appeal that you get from your local mom and pop restaurant, and I REALLY like that. If you like to support your local businesses, as I do, then Oriental Gardens is Raymore's own and only Chinese Buffet. read more

Not extravagant. Normal everyday Chinese buffet with good crab rangoon located in a small town. Friendly and attentive staff. In 2009 Winter snow storm, all of our Christmas plans had been canceled. We were finally able to make it out of the house on Christmas day, we had been couped up several days due to the snow. Oriental Garden was the only restaurant open that day, so we got to eat Chinese buffet for our Christmas meal! :) We still joke about that. It was actually a great memory maker! read more

I've eaten at lots of Chinese places over the years. And several in smaller towns. This place is about par for the course. It's nothing fancy, but for the price you wouldn't expect it to be. The food was good, although the buffet was a little skimpy when I went. I'm sure that's mostly due to the fact that it was about an hour before they closed for the night. I'll give the benefit of the doubt on that considering the other existing reviews. I definitely plan on going back again during lunch time at a later date. read more

The food here is very good. We order from the menu skipping the buffet. We do not care for buffets. Service and price are good even when ordering from the menu. This is our go-to pick for Chinese in Raymore, now that we have discovered it. We have tried lo mein, Mu shu, Hunan, curry, and appetizers and soups. Usually chicken or shrimp or tofu for the protein. All have been decent for the price. They also customize the food if you ask and they make things not on the menu if you ask and the chef knows how to make it. Only one miss once here and it was Szechuan chicken. I don't order it anymore. It was a weird spicy sweet sauce. Not at all what I expected (spicy brown garlic sauce with lots of peppers in it). In fact we are going to get take out here tonight! The bbq chicken on a skewer is just perfect, great green beans flavored to perfection, lots of traditional appetizers, and even several desserts to choose from. Dishes to eat with rice varied from mild to very hot with quite a few to choose from or take a bit of each of them. Two soup varieties are available on the buffet. The hot-sour soup isbmy favorite!
