We placed our order and while waiting, I used the restroom. The place is falling apart at the seams. We got our food a little over an hour before closing and the food was horrible. We thought we would finally give this place a try but after spending $30 and half of the food going into the trash, we wish we wouldn't have bothered. The veggies and rice were both under cooked. The vegetables were cold. The rice was warm but it was so undercooked and hard that we couldn't eat it. We also ordered extra sweet and sour sauce and I'm so confused on why the extra would be a different color than the one with the order. It came with less chicken than most places which we wouldn't care as much had it been fresh. The crab Rangoon were also so stale. All of the food was basically a waste. read more

I've only been to Taste of China once before and that was Pre-COVID. Even though they are literally right down the street from me I just never went there or forgot they existed. For my birthday dinner we decided on Chinese takeout. I decided to give them a try as I couldn't remember their food and if I liked it or not. Before ordering I went inside at 4pm and grabbed a few menus. I went back at 6:30pm to place the pick up order and there was a lady behind the counter making FRESH crab Rangoon. The restaurant was simple and clean, and a few other people were waiting for their orders. I waited about 20 minutes for a decent sized order for 3 people. The food itself was AMAZING! I ordered rice noodles, crab Rangoon, and steamed dumplings. It was all delicious! AND they got my order correct for the whole party I ordered for. I will for sure be going back to this place! I've been going here for years and the food and service has always been 15/10. New management please don't fix what isn't broken. Y'all are changing the recipes and the chicken feels more slimy and Is now sitting in pools of sauce, fried rice not as clumpy and containers are flimsy and appear much cheeper. Not that the containers matter that much but the food does. IVE BEEN COMING FOR YEARS. I don't think that will be the case going forward. Sadly I genuinely think I would have enjoyed panda express more. And thats sad because I love this place but at least panda has honey walnut shrimp that I love. read more

The name of this restaurant in Chinese is "jia wei" (jia1 wei4), which means "Excellent Taste." I was in somewhat of a delirious state of mind and wanted Chinese food or Sonic, so my friend and I chose this place. Walking in, I was really hopeful that I could find some real dishes, but alas I did not. All of their dishes have been Americanified by adding various sweetners and vegetables. I mean, I know it's hard to get bamboo in Missouri, but canned bamboo just lacks the flavor it should have. Also, I want to point out that their website says they prepare authentic Sichuan and Hunan dishes, but they don't. These dishes can only aspire to be as great as their authentic counterparts. Just picture fried fish filets covered and cooked in chili peppers. The dish when brought out to you is literally a mound of chili peppers with fish tucked inside. *sigh* Anyways, I persued their menu, and they have your typical dishes one around here would expect: Hunan beef, General's chicken, hot and sour soup, etc. This isn't the style of Chinese I go for at all. When I walked up to the counter, they guy was really nice, and I was able to converse with him in Chinese, which is why I was hopeful from the get-go. I ended up ordering Sichuan Chicken. A glorious heap of canned bamboo, water chestnuts, peppers, and broccoli swimming in a non-spicy sauce laced with chicken. Now, I'll admit, the food itself wasn't bad, but it just misses the mark for me. I feel bad about not being able to give them a higher star, but if I lived in the area I know I would. Having grown accustomed to me Chongqing la zi yu pian and ming huo bai zhou, this just isn't going to cut it. Anyways, the place is incredibly clean, the staff is friendly, and they speak broken-English, but if you're from the area, this is probably the best you're going to find. As a side note, they cook their food with vegetable oil and low sodium, so it's a smarter choice than some places around here. read more

Have tried this place several times now, as it is conveniently located. Very clean and friendly. Nothing too fancy, just a strip mall location. Had beef and broccoli. Looked appetizing, but lacked flavor. Not enough broccoli. General Tso's chicken, one of my favorites normally, was a gooey mess, wasn't spicy and the chicken seemed like it was cooked last week. It was dry and stringy. Fried rice was just brown tinted rice. No flavor, no vegetables, no eggs. Lo Mein was excessively oily. Crab rangoons were the highlight. Fresh and crisp and the filling tasted rich and creamy. Egg rolls were just ok. They weren't greasy at least. Overall, maybe one more try, but they need to find some flavor somewhere. No buffet. Stopped in for a quick lunch on a very icy day. After reading the reviews I wasn't for sure if I wanted to try it out. I walked by and went to Minsky's, but it was so cold and icy I was really craving some soup. I order the egg drop and it was mediocre at best. For my meal I oRdere beef and broccoli. It was actually very good and hit the spot. I meant to order steamed rice because of all the comments about the fried rice. Well let me tell you I wish I would have. It was terrible. Taste of China IS the typical Chinese take out place. They all must get their menus from the same place! However, this place does make your food fresh, it never sits around and then handed out later. I have actually seen the employees making the crab Rangoon from scratch before freezing it. I have tried some things on the menu I don't like but for the most part it's all fairly decent. Is this place some crazy good authentic sit down Chinese restaurant = NO WAY, but is this a solid, fresh typical Chinese takeout = YES! I went to Taste of China in Raymore. It was the most nasty food ever. I order combo lomein with extra shrimp. They charge $2 for 3 shrimp and it only came with 2 shrimp no veggies and lomein was nasty. I also order shrimp fried rice and it was nasty it only had 10 shrimp in there. When I ordered on the phone they was rude she rushed me off. I will never ever go back. I don't recommend and to go they are NASTY and rude. They count everything out. read more

I love this restaurant. It is head and shoulders above all the other chinese restaurants in the Belton/Raymore area. I usually have the cashew chicken but I've tried many of their other dishes and all of them are very good for the price, especially if you go there for lunch you can get out of there for under $5 which is pretty tough for good food. I'd give them 4.5 stars if Yelp let me, but I gave them 5 stars when you consider the quality of the food and the price. The staff is customer service conscious. We just moved to the Raymore area and are looking for good Chinese food. We will continue to look. Husband had Mongolian beef, he said the sauce lacked taste. I ordered the Boneless Chicken which is breaded and I knew this. However, the breading was ridiculously greasy and the brown sauce was so salty (soy sauce) that I couldn't eat that. I removed as much of the breading that I could and just ate the chicken. We ordered Chicken fried rice which did not look like Chix fried rice. It had a yellowish/orange color to it and that lacked flavor too. I got an egg roll and egg drop soup--both of these were good. But the entrees and fried rice was disappointing. The entire bill was $30. which is a lot to my husband and I. This was not a good Chinese restaurant. We will continue to look for a Chinese restaurant that has good if not excellent food. :( read more

Fresh, cooked to order Chinese food. Budget friendly and plenty of food in the combos and entrees. Daughter/Husband love the crab rangoon and order it everytime. Fried rice, soups, chicken and beef entrees are always tasty. Husband does say he could use more beef in his, but my chicken dishes have plenty of protien. Always get sauce on the side and they are happy to accomodate everytime. No MSG is a plus for us, we enjoy the natural flavors. This is in our every other week rotation and the staff start cooking as soon as they see me. (since my order is always predictable) read more

We've been eating here since it was opened, and we still frequent there, despite not living so close any more. One of the owners, Lisa, is always friendly and helpful, and knows exactly how to get my favorite meal right every time (sesame chicken combo served spicy and crispy). The location is easy to access, and always has us in and out very quickly, and has take out ready to go in awesome time. This is awesome, considering that all of their entrees are made as soon as you order them, so it's always hot and fresh.
