    Chicken katsu bento

I normally can't be bothered to write reviews but decided to write one for this place bc I would have passed up this place based on # of reviews if my husb had not chosen this. Once he did, I ordered based on other reviews I read and they're spot on, the sashimi was surprising quality and better than I expected, even given the reviews I had read before ordering. Honestly I would expect it to be pricier given how difficult it must be to import ingredients to this place. The agedashi tofu was done well, the thin skin was crispy and well fried, the sauce it came in light but not lacking in flavor. We also got a bento box and it was quite traditional with the ginger dressing for the salad, I've missed the flavor more than I knew. I don't care for California rolls so have nothing to say about that. The chicken katsu was well made and the katsu sauce was good. The shrimp tempura udon was probably the weakest of the things we ordered but I think the soup had togarashi in it so points for depth. The overall feel very much reminded me of an old favorite from my school days in Houston, a mom and pop shop where staff was literally the mom and pop, pop cooking in the back and mom doing everything else! The wait is long and the service is the best they can do given the understaffing but the food is bomb and that's all that counts to me. So I felt very much at home here. They were full when we arrived 45 min before closing, I was ready to order to go but they made an effort to seat us so I did not mind the wait for the table or the wait for anything else afterwards. I think they were trying to call in help when we arrived but not successful. Still, I would wait however long I need to. Staff was very friendly and even came to apologize for forgetting our waters which I didnt expect bc it was understandable given every table was filled and only 2 guys running back and forth. 10/10 would visit again next time we make a trip to the area!

It's hard to believe that such a great sushi shop exist in this little town. The food is great and there is a good size menu. There is no outdoor seating and there is a decent amount of seating inside. The prices are good. Service is great. I have been very happy with every visit so far. My only complaint will be the limited hours of operation; however, that seems to be a Los Alamos thing in g

    Chile Relleno roll

This was my first time having sushi in New Mexico and it was decent. It's located in the heart of Los Alamos and open for dining in. When we arrived, we stood at the door for a few minutes before anyone came over to us, but other than that service was fine. I was a little afraid to try their nigiri and sashimi considering this restaurant is located 2 hours from the nearest major airport, so I stuck with their sushi rolls. Everything was drizzled in a lot of sauce and had a lot of rice, so it's definitely an Americanized sushi spot. My favorite was the Chile Relleno roll because I like cream cheese and green chile. The Santa Fe roll also had green chile in it, but was pretty plain. The pieces were also cut unevenly. I wouldn't recommend the Spider or Dynamite rolls because they were both a little fishy even with all the sauce. We also got an order of Monkey Brains and that is basically a thick layer of fried batter with a dollop of imitation crab and sauce. I didn't taste any mushrooms that it advertised. Overall it was worth a try since I've been craving sushi for months, but I wouldn't come here with high expectations if you've had sushi in bigger cities. We spent $100 for 4 rolls, an appetizer & 2 beers.

This is a nice sushi place for a small town. Service is good and food is tasty. I love the nigiri sushi and the miso soup. This is a good place for sushi.

Went there with the my vegetarian friend and the dishes we got exceeds my expectation! I loved the veggie roll and the veggie gyoza. Not a huge fan for my salmon curry though. The meat is kinda dry. Keep in mind that they also have complimentary miso soup and salad, I was way too stuffed after dinner. Miso soup is a tad bit too salty and salad has a tad bit too much dressing on it. Other than that, I think I could use a bit more wasabi for the tempura veggie roll.

I wanted to love this place. We were in the area after hiking and I wanted sushi. It was meh but a few highlights. We got in early before lunch. Service was steady for us. They got bizzy-bizzu and I could see the one chef making rolls got way behind while the other sashimi chef stood around. They've got combo lunch specials but we ordered a lot of diff stuff to share. The stars : Chile releno role. Great! Unique to is. Great flavor. Orange blossom roll. Beautiful and yum. 1. Korean beef was good. Needed the usual sides and stuff that come with it. 2. Bento box veggie tempura was a star. 3. Firecracker app. No. Just no. I took advice here and it was bad. It had nooooo flavor. Textures off. Pepper was off. It lacked salt. A basic thing. Search harder for a sushi place. Oh. The sushi bar area is cluttered and dirty. Not impressed.

This is a one-of-a-kind place, the Vietnamese fusion flavors are so delicious, the fresh herbs and vegetables pop with brightness alongside the perfectly prepared seafood and meats. We went for my husband's birthday and the Alkeme team made it an unforgettable evening. They gave him a free sparkling wine for his bday :) He ordered the sake pairing for the "sea" tasting menu, and wow, we've never tried sakes this innovative. You can tell the sakes were carefully selected, some more light, others more earthy, all of them excellent. I ordered the Sticky Business cocktail, and damn, it was amazing!! Their take on a tiki drink but less sweet, with a boozey foam and mango pearls. The service was wonderful. We got to talk to Chef Erica, which was very cool, and Vickie gave lovely descriptions of our dishes. They and our waitress made my husband's birthday so special. This restaurant in my opinion is James Beard and/or Michelin level dining. We loved everything about it. I highly recommend Alkeme, we'll never forget this special meal!

The crispy cod was well prepared and layered with flavor. The carrot soup was a little bland. The colossal shrimp and pork belly came on a bright, fresh, and somewhat messy bed of slaw and greens, but the dish needed a little more heat or sauce to bring everything together. The shrimp were also slightly overcooked. Service was slow and a bit fussy at the same time. The dining room is tight, which seems to make it difficult for servers to flow through the space efficiently, so that may explain some of the issues.

Happy Hour runs twice daily with reduced prices on food & beverages from 3-5p and 9-10p. Japanese whisky and exotic green tea (try the kuki cha!) round out a full beverage program, and deep booths offer private views of the lush valley below. Chef Kiko Rodriguez offers a four-course tasting menu at an exceptional value for $65 - trying this or any of Paloma's suggestions from their fresh sushi menu (only restaurant in New Mexico with fish flown in from Japan daily) will surely please. Gloriously chilled tuna sashimi was thinly sliced cut with heat from fresh wasabi and a savory ginger shoyu. Hand rolls are served in pairs, and the spicy tuna was simple, elegant, and delightful - a perfect showcase of the freshest fish. Before switching to dessert, shaved ginger is also snappy and cleansing. I was absolutely mind blown by the Sakura Pannacotta - delicate and dreamy custard textured like chawanmushi with soft aromatic cherry blossom and the most delectable shortbread accent. Three light courses that were fully nourishing, absolutely satisfying, and delightfully delicious!

This was the spot I found myself in about midway through my trip to Sante Fe, and happen to find this Asian spot pretty close to my hotel. The Yelp reviews checked out, and some of the photos really were enticing so I decided to give it a go on a chilly night. It's a simple but well appointed place, just outside the main downtown area, and really close to the main rail station.. just a block or two over. Walking in your are confronted with delicious smells and savory aromas, always a good sign. I took a seat and was helped promptly. I had seen glowing reviews about their hot and sour sweet potato rice noodle soups, and decided to get one with beef. I also can't help but get some dumpling, and went with the spicy shrimp ones. My soup came out first, and was in a nice large bowl filled up with hot soup. My first sip was so incredible, I could not wait to plow through the bowl, and I did just that. Spicy, sour, hearty, tender beef and noodles, lots of well cooked veggies... it all came together beautifully. This was the perfect dish with it being cold out. Shortly after, my dumplings arrived, and they were the perfect compliment to the soup. I even put a couple in there to soak up that hot and sour flavor, and that was just delightful. On their own, they were plenty good. I have no complaints about either item. This was the perfect change-up meal from all the New Mexican cuisine I had been having. I recommend it for those seeking a curveball!

My wife ordered the fried pork dumplings, which took an inexplicably long time to come out of the kitchen. The server apologized, but didn't explain the delay. However, they were large, perfectly fried, and very filling. She loved them, and luckily we were not in a hurry that day. We didn't order drinks other than water, but they have a decent selection of bottled sodas, beers, and mineral water on display, and they offer Thai tea, ginger tea, and iced teas as well. Everything says freshly, handmade, and the staff seems always busy and on task. Highly recommended.

First was a split plate of the endive smoked duck salad with a warm bacon vinegarette. Wow...this was nice and refreshing. This was followed by the crab dumplings with fresh corn and peas and lobster sauce. Delicious! The final small plate was seared foie gras on top of banana bread toast. This was very good. I miss foie gras. Unfortunately, it's banned in California. They had a 2023 Sea Smoke "Ten"Pi ot Noir on the wine list. This is one of the best Pinot Noirs produced in California and not easy to find. This was a no doubter and we ordered a bottle to pair with our entrees. My wife ordered their signature elk tenderloin for redemption because the restaurant the night before failed at executing this. I ordered the tomahawk pork chop. This was cooked to perfection with a nice thin crust on the outside and a perfect very light pink juicy center. We ordered a side of brocolini that was pan roasted with shallots and butter. Everything was very good and Michelin grade in our opinion. Lastly we ended the evening and split the tiramasu type of desert. My wife had the expresso martini and I had an 18 year old Glen Morangie scotch neat. The service was excellent and worth the splurge. This is a must when visiting Santa Fe.
