Wow, what a great restaurant. I wanted a steak, but we got there between 4:00pm and 6:00pm and found a great menu of Happy Hour Appetizers and drinks. We had the beef tips with green chilli cheese sauce, Garlc truffle fry's (amazing), taco's w/Pico de Gaio and more... wow! It made me want to go to dinner next time in Santa Fe. Then on top of the food, the Service was amazing. We had a server that she explained Happy Hour and all the great drinks to try. The staff all was focused on the customer... I knew it was a great restaurant with all the Locals there, great ambiance. I know there are many great restaurants in Santa Fe, but if you go to dinner there, you can get table side Ceaser Salad and Banna Foster. Honestly, I'm shocked this place isn't 5 stars across the board. Such a hidden gem.. because from the outside looks like a hole in the wall... but it's really not. Carlos was our server and his customer service was superb. Gave us great honest recommendations. The happy hour is LEGIT at $10 apps and drinks (not well). For the meal- it was delicious. Seriously disappointed in the quantity of food for happy hour. We literally paid $5 per pork bone. Yes that's two small bones with canned mole sauce. Also, the beef tips was 10 small cut pieces. Dinner for Two came highly recommended to me by a friend & I'm so glad we stopped in for HH Arrived 20 mins after they opened and the patio was already starting to fill up. I noticed most people ordered the salmon fish & chips and the portion seemed large relative to many of the other options I almost died when I took a bite of the taco, it was one of the best tacos I've ever had. Mini chimi was good but I would rather order double the tacos and skip the chimi. The mushroom risotto is unique, good flavor, a bit watery in texture and would pair nicely with the beef bites Cocktails were strong and/or you're 6k feet above sea level so they hit different if you're not from here Service was great and we enjoyed sitting on the covered patio. Close to greatness: I visit here almost every year. The service is excellent, the dining room and presentation are top line great. The food is close, but needs work at this tier. For clarity, I have been on all sides of this business and I appreciate how brutally challenging it is to maintain consistent quality every day. Had the mole enchilada. The spice was perfect, subtle and rich, and not bitter. The meat, flavorful and well textured, and plated appropriately. Unfortunately it was unevenly heated and mostly cold. We tried the NY strip as well. Mashed potatoes and zucchini were solid performances and tasty sides. The string fries were just ok, and probably unnecessary. The meat itself was perfect cooked to rare, and flavorful but very tough. I had to cut away roughly 30% to get to the edible portion of the strip. This is both a butcher and a kitchen issue. That piece shouldn't have been purchased, and if it was, served to non-staff. Finally, we closed with pumpkin pie. This was the actual disappointment in the evening. I could see how all of those other issues were just luck of the dice. But this capped it: Small, flavorless, uninspired filling with a marginal crust. Why? I like this restaurant a lot, but after this experience I really can't recommend it, especially given all of the remarkable options even just a block away. read more

As a solo woman traveler it took a bit of courage to walk in here. Who names their restaurant "Dinner for two" anyway. Recently, in Santa Fe for a conference I thought I'd check it out. Turns out they have a wonderful HH menu- with several healthy options. I had the salmon salad (the asparagus was al dente, and the salmon delicious although not much of it.) A pet peeve. I arrived early to an almost empty dining room, and the server wanted to sit me practically on top of a couple enjoying a romantic dinner. I balked and asked for some space - granted. But why the tendency to sit folks so close together? No one want to hear the conversation at the table next to you. Then, again, this would have been an issue for me, not the couple. The tendency to sit solo diners (even those like me who tip for two) at less than attractive tables still exists. A little assertiveness paid off. Attentive servers and tasty food. We came for dinner at 5pm on Saturday night. The food was excellent and the ambience was lovely. The service was terrible. Our server did not tell us the chef specials, brought the incorrect appetizer (I didn't complain About this), did not bring any bread to our table, acted uninterested, was late with a drink, and when we asked for bananas foster for dessert, he told us there would be at least a 25-minute wait and didn't offer any alternative or ask if we wanted to see a dessert menu. I think he was more focused on a larger table. The food was really great, we had salad, risotto, filet mignon, and seafood sampler, all excellent. We will not be back because of the service, unfortunately! read more

Very close to the Pinon Court our crib, we arrived just before Happy Hour ended at 6.00pm. I had a perfectly crafted Basil Hayden Old Fashioned and Pablo had The Love Bubble, $10 each, very good value. the pictures don't do the excitement of the Love Bubble justice. The bartender was efficient, polite and helpful. To the left upon entering is a large formal dining area, moodily lit for a nice dinner. To the right is the bar area and a few high tops against the window. The bar looks to the kitchen. We sampled the mushroom risotto with truffle oil and the crab cakes, both were A-OK, risotto is tricky, and it was slightly mushy. The truffle oil a little sickly. Both items $10 each. We shoulda coulda have made better choices. The dinner menu looked excellent. The only downside was there were about 6 unoccupied staff to the right of us chattering and laughing. Same going on in the kitchen. This brought the whole tone and expectation down a bit. Staff need to be seen and not heard. Otherwise it is a top notch place to go. read more

We had dinner for 2 at Dinner For Two for my mom's birthday, and it was very nice. We had been outside all day so it was nice to come in to this mellow ambiance of stained glass sconces and chandeliers and unique art. Of course we had to try the tableside Caesar salad, which was adjusted to our taste (more or less garlic, anchovy, etc.) and my mother declared the best Caesar salad she had ever eaten. For our entrees, she got the seafood sampler composed of shrimp, salmon and a crab cake; after being in the sun so much, I wasn't terribly hungry so following the big salad I just got a bowl of the truffle mushroom soup and the coconut shrimp appetizer. The shrimp was tasty with perhaps just slightly too thick a breading; the soup was delicious, a nice blend of creaminess and the mushroom umami, though would have benefitted from a little garnish, even just a dash of chopped chives, because its gray porridge appearance gave the impression of a Dickensian gruel, which totally belied its flavor. I had said it was her birthday on the reservation and so our dessert came with a huge sparkler shooting out of the top! This was the chocolate sphere, and was one of those deconstructed desserts that while tasty, was a bit of a challenge to eat, but its accompanying dulce de leche sauce was delicious. My husband and I enjoyed our dinner last night. We had reservations for 6:15 and were seated right away. Our server was very nice and appropriately attentive. When ordering glasses of wine I asked about a white wine I was unfamiliar with. He it was popular and not overly dry when I asked about that. He offered to get me a taste as they has a bottle open. I took him up on it and loved the wine, ordered a glass. We each had a salad, entree, and bananas foster for 2. It was all very good. While some might not like smaller portions we appreciated the sizes so that we could have all of the above and not feel stuffed, and not have leftovers. I only wish we were going to be in town longer so we could come back again as there was more on the menu I would like to have :) read more

We were in Santa Fe for vacation, and before we left I did some research on restaurants. A daunting tasks with all of the great places there. I came across Dinner for 2 which excited me because they have a great Happy Hour menu. We were not disappointed. Our evening began with house crafted cocktails. I tried the Unicorn Tear which was wonderful and refreshing. Next our table of 4 shared an assortment of wonderful tapas style noshes. Crab cakes, nachos, coconut shrimp, tacos, strawberry and beet salad. Everything was elegantly served and tasted amazing. But the star of the evening was the table side bananas Foster..... amazing a dessert and a show! I highly recommend Dinner for 2.... wish we had something this great near me!! read more

Stopped in on Saturday for the happy hour eats and drinks. It was a great choice, my daughter and son-in-law had been here before so they knew some of the menu items to start off with. We rolled through the happy hour menu a few times. My daughter and I started with a Love Bubble Margarita. Right off I knew they were trouble, so very tasty! Then we started on the apps menu. We ordered 2 of the Beef Tips with Green Chili Queso, Crispy Pumpkin Ravioli, Salmon Fish n' Chips Truffle & Garlic Fries, Beet and Strawberry Salad and 2 orders of the Oyster Mushroom Risotto. Everything was so fricking good! Just one call out, the Risotto was just a bit under cooked, but was still delicious. The second time through we ordered the Chicken Wiiiings and Coconut Shrimp. Somehow they missed the shrimp so we went for the Carrot Cake for the finale. So, the breakdown on what was the best, that is a tough one, and what a great problem to have. I would have to put the Beef Tips with Green Chili Queso first, the Wiiiings second, then Salmon Fish n' Chips with Truffle Fries and Pumpkin Ravioli. Awkward vibe, dated waaaay overpriced food. $18 for literally two ribs?! Cocktails are definitely the best thing there.

Came here for dinner for my birthday. We had heard good things about it from someone in the area. It seems like they get pretty busy for happy hour. The decor and lighting in the dining room is kind of cheesy and the AC unit is really loud and super cold. I recommend bringing a light sweater. The food was good and we had the table side, Caesar salad, which wasn't bad but not the greatest. Kind of over priced. What was really disappointing is I put birthday on the reservation and my husband told The server it was my birthday and he never offered to give a dessert even something really small. We spent almost $250 on dinner and found it very tacky that they don't even have anything small to offer for celebrations. The waiter just looked at me with a blank stare and gave us our check and says happy birthday. Not even a simple scoop of ice cream was offered. We have went to very high-end steak restaurants that will offer Desert and not think anything of it. This felt kind of ridiculous and cheap. Plus, the patio seemed like a nice summer afternoon spot and we knew Guadalupe business were having a hard time. The appetizers we ordered were...fine. Not good nor bad, just fine. What was not fine was the price of my wife's martini. Dry with Monkey 47 gin and olives. Now Monkey 47 is a premium gin, but 2 oz of it plus a splash of vermouth is not a $27 drink. I led a small group of friends to Santa Fe last night for a holiday dinner. We dined at Dinner for Two. It was a terrific experience. We took the 3.20 p.m. train from Montano station. It is about a quarter mile to DFT. Cowgirl BBQ had a holiday special, so we stopped in there for a hot toddy and queso. Both very good and not too hot or cold. Thirty minutes later we were off to DFT. I had dined at DFT two times before. In my prior visits I found the food to be very good and creative, the drinks reasonably priced and equally creative, and the atmosphere warm and intimate. I wanted to share this with my friends. I think I succeeded. There were seven of us. We sat in the main room. Our reservations were at 5.45 p.m. They sat us immediately. Happy hour ended at six. We ordered cocktails and appetizers (nachos, salmon fish and chips, and fries - all very good, but don't order the fries, you will receive plenty with the fish and chips). We ordered meals. The meals were delivered timely and hot, but not too hot. I heard no complaints from anyone. (Thought - if you order the beef stroganoff, order some bread.) We did not order desert, but next visit I am ordering Bananas Foster - quite a show and very popular. read more

Patronized 3/14/2025 for my birthday with a family member and they were over capacity by a long shot. Rez for 7, we waited conspicuously at the crowded entrance until probably 7:10 which isn't horrible, served appetizer of risotto with significantly undercooked rice without appetizer plates so we ate off of bread plates which was ok since we didn't see another waiter to ask for bread for a half hour. The tableside Ceasar salad is ok but not mixed to a cream in a wooden bowl the way a real ceasar should be. Tbf that is really difficult to get right. My strip was ok, my partner's steak was coffee rubbed with a lot of other stuff andshe felt just kind of over seasoned and over-flavored for a good cut of beef. I'd give two stars except I've been here twice before with better results and for Santa Fe this is considered a high end restaurant but frankly I'd rank it pretty well below average for fine dining If I based my review on this evening alone. Nice wine selection and well prepared cocktails. Only issue was very loud tables of four who thought this was a ski resort apres' ski who were clueless this is upscale "nice" dinner establishment where people come for fine dining. In Santa Fe, we enjoyed a lovely well-located restaurant for Sunday brunch. My daughter enjoyed the Surf and Turf Discata, which was a great dish full of several meats. The waiter suggested a couple favorites, so I ordered and truly enjoyed the Breakfast Burrito, served with green chile sauce on top. It was accompanied by a generous serving of black beans. The burrito was a large serving and was great, but I couldn't eat all of it. The greeter and waiter were both so friendly. The quiet ambiance and white tablecloths were delightful. The restaurant is an easy walk from the Santa Fe Plaza area. It has an indoor and an outdoor bar. The outdoor bar looks like a great stop for a break if you are walking around Santa Fe during the warmer months. The house drinks are fun and creative. Everything we ordered was delicious well platted. This is a smaller portion, high end sort of place; however, the prices are better than most. Service was quick and attentive. There was a fun crowd and the energy was good. This was a very positive experience. I would definitely return. read more
