    Small but cute
    Melli B.

WHOA! I happened upon Origen by mistake. I searched "Sushi" on Yelp and found a place called "Sushi Sogo" which is now closed and has been replaced by Origen. There was no signage on the building but the door did say "Origen". I almost left but then another car pulled up and I asked them if this was a sushi spot and they said yes. We all walked into a very empty spot aside from the staff of 3. The place is small but very cute. The decor is modern and it appeared to be very clean and well maintained. I was handed the menu by a sweet lady whom I learned had just started working there 2 days ago so it was clear that she didn't know the menu that well but even still, she made suggestions based on what she was familiar with and what other diners seemed to enjoy. Upon her suggestion, I decided to go with the Magic Mushroom roll which was $19 and the Garlic Edamame which I believe was about $12 (don't quote me though). I was taking my food to-go so please forgive my photos. It was dark out and I was in my car. Let me say first...The Magic Mushroom roll does not LOOK appealing in the least so truthfully, just going off of sight alone, I had low expectations. The chef though, specifically asked me to please taste the roll first before I add wasabi, soy sauce or any other sauce. So when I got in my car, I got my wasabi/soy ready but I tasted the first piece without adding anything and WOW!!!!! It was literally amazing and honestly, I dipped into my sauce combo maybe once. The roll was phenomenal on its own! This roll has Panko breaded shrimp in the center, avocado, and some sort of cream on top with a smoky mushroom perched on top of the sauce. Then it's torched which adds to the smoky flavor that's out of this world!!! I will say that the sushi rice was a tad bit overcooked but that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying this roll. With Each bite, I was in awe! The panko crunch almost made me sing. This roll was delicious! The only thing I would have appreciated more was if it were a bit bigger. It was a 10 piece roll but each piece is small enough to pop in your mouth and if you're hungry you're gonna definitely eat more than one roll...so I'd say EASILY at least $50 per person for 2 rolls each, as I observed rolls and other menu items averaging about $24. This is a fusion place with very interesting menu items. There are also your traditional Peruvian dishes like Chaufa, Saltado and Ceviche. Though I didn't taste any of these items, there was a beautifully put together photo/video montage playing on a screen behind the sushi bar and the food looked like ART! You can tell that the chef is passionate about his dishes and if I had to judge what the rest of the food tastes like based on what I ate tonight, I'd go out on a limb and assume it's all delicious!!

This is where it's AT!!!! This is a Peruvian Fusion restaurant, that includes both sushi, ceviche, and typical Peruvian dishes like lomo saltado. Please do yourself a favor and come eat here! Their flavors are amazing. We tried the lomo saltado and the sushi sampler dish. Everything was very flavorful and fresh! Also had the sangria which was very refreshing. You will not regret having a meal here. They are very accommodating and kind. Very good service. Everything was !!!

Food and service were both fantastic! Definitely a hidden gem. I'm looking forward to coming back.

Never knew it was located there but with the continuous flow of customers that came in and out, others did. The staff is very welcoming the minute you walk in and explains the special(s) that might be happening at the time. If you arrive during their Lunch Special, I recommend doing it as you get an appetizer, entrée and a drink with your order. Certain items are excluded from this special but it is noted on the menu. I was luck to arrive during to lunch special which I ordered Papa a la Huancaina. This yellow, creamy sauce over potatoes had so much flavor and the right amount of heat that I was scrapping every drop sauce off the plate before handing it over. For my entree, I ordered the Linguini a la Huancaina w/ chicken. This overall dish was super delicious. The chicken is flatten when cooked and the pasta to Huancaina sauce portions are perfect for each bite. Ceviche was order by my co works order which I recommend everyone to try at least once at Peruvian restaurant. For someone who is not a fan of fish or certain seafood, Peruvian ceviche is made a certain way to mask that fishy/ seafood flavor. You get this acidic, yummy bite from lime juice and onions that are included. I do recommend bringing some kind of jacket or coverup because the inside of the restaurant was very nice but extremely cold. I saw many parties chose to sit outside after being sat inside due to the temperature. Also the bathroom location, there is a hallway near the bar you will need to walk down to get to it. Smells like fresh limes walking down the hallway and is very clean but can be a tad confusing looking for it generally.

We started by sharing the scallops as an appetizer, and they were absolutely delicious--one of my favorite parts of the meal. They were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I wasn't really hungry, so I ordered the leche de tigre and it was incredibly satisfying--fresh, juicy, bright, lemony, and full of citrus flavor. I especially loved that fresh lime taste; it made the dish feel so vibrant. My friends ordered a few different entrées, and I got to try a little bit of everything. Everything looked amazing, but I especially loved the shrimp risotto. For dessert, the maracuyá cheesecake was completely out of this world--so divine. It paired perfectly with an Americano coffee and was the perfect way to end the meal. The one disappointment for me was the sangria. We all shared some, and unfortunately it tasted watered down, more like diluted wine than a true house-made sangria. I was really hoping for something fresher and more flavorful. Overall, I had a lovely experience. The food and dessert were definitely the highlights, and I would absolutely come back. Next time I'd love to try one of their cocktails and order a full entrée of my own.

I have never been so disappointed after spending so much money at a Peruvian restaurant…read more I'm a foodie, and I have no problem paying $$$$ for a meal if it's worth it. One thing about me: I'm absolutely obsessed with Peruvian cuisine. Unfortunately, this place completely missed the mark. The service was terrible from the start. They use electronic tablets as menus, but mine was dead. I had to wait nearly 10 minutes just to get someone's attention and receive a replacement. That's just the beginning. My food arrived before my drinks, and I had to repeatedly ask for a bottle of water and a spoon. I ordered the chaufa, and it was incredibly oily. It didn't even have the proper color or flavor you'd expect from a good Peruvian fried rice. I would've taken a photo, but by that point we had already waited so long that I just wanted to eat. To make matters worse, the dish was mostly rice with maybe 10 pieces of chicken scattered throughout. I left half of it untouched. I also ordered ceviche and specifically wanted shrimp and fish. Instead, they brought me fish only and somehow upsold me to a different fish that I never asked for. Of course, I didn't find that out until the bill arrived. Overall, it was overpriced, disappointing, and nowhere near worth the money. Save yourself the frustration and spend your hard-earned money somewhere else.

I'll be honest, when we pulled in, we almost turned around. The restaurant looked like it was under renovation, and it was completely empty. But let this be a reminder: never judge a restaurant by first impressions. We gave it a shot, and I'm so glad we did. The woman taking care of us was incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially with my wife's special requests. The service was warm and welcoming from start to finish. Now for the food... wow. The Lomo Saltado was great. The steak was cooked perfectly, the flavors were outstanding, and everything tasted fresh. Even the salad was excellent, which isn't something I usually rave about. Funny part. When we walked in, I thought, "Uh-oh... why is nobody here?" But as soon as we finished our food, it was like someone flipped a switch. The place started filling up, and by the time we walked out, it was packed. I guess we just arrived at the perfect time! It does look like they're expanding and renovating the restaurant, which is great to see. I'm not just going to tell you to try Kausitas.... I'm going to tell you to run there. Outstanding food, a hidden gem that's absolutely worth discovering. We'll definitely be back.

We visited on Tuesday night as a party of 7 (5 adults and 2 children), and we were actually the only customers dining inside the restaurant. I had called ahead beforehand to confirm they were open and let them know the size of our party. When we arrived, the table was nicely prepared, which we appreciated. The food itself was great. That has never been the issue. What completely changed the experience for us was the automatic 25% gratuity added to the bill. When I politely asked why the gratuity was so high, I was told their structure is based on party size: 18% for 3+ people, 20% for 5+, and 25% for 7+. While the receipt does mention that parties of 3 or more are subject to a service charge, nowhere are those percentages clearly disclosed beforehand. A 25% automatic gratuity for a table of 7, especially in an otherwise empty restaurant with average service, feels excessive and misleading. For context, I am not someone who refuses to tip. I regularly tip 18-20%, even when service is mediocre, because I understand this is how servers make a living. But customers should be allowed to decide whether service warrants 25%, not have it automatically imposed without clear transparency. What made it worse was the dismissive attitude we received when simply asking about it. Again, the food was good. That's what makes this disappointing. But good food alone does not make up for poor customer experience and lack of transparency. Will not be returning.

We waited about 5 minutes before she came back with a tiny dessert spoon for a seafood soup I asked the hostess if we could please get a proper spoon. She kept walking in and out until finally she told us that all the spoons in the restaurant were occupied and we had to wait. Meanwhile the soup had already been sitting there for over 10 minutes getting cold. At the end, Alejandro the only person actually trying to help finally went and found a spoon himself. By then my husband didn't even want the soup anymore. Our original waiter finally came back and asked if we wanted him to reheat the soup ‍ My husband said no, please just take it away and bring the check. Then the waiter says, "Look, I removed the soup from the bill," as if that fixed the situation The saddest part is that no manager ever came over, nothing. Everyone acted like this was completely normal. The only person who genuinely tried to resolve the situation was Alejandro.
