When La Hacienda Grill had a different owner years ago the food was best however I still enjoyed their food every once in a while what is crazy to me are the prices have severely gone up to where its in exaggeration!!! I ordered a plain carne asada burrito a la carte(no rice and beans on side) the meat was terrible...alot of pieces of hard not chewable fat of carne asada chunks i kept having to spit out and the burrito itself only had rice beans and the meat thats it! Can you believe I paid $16.95+ $3.95 for a diet coke (medium size) = total $22 dollars for this meal? Never again!!! read more

Have been going here for several years. No problems in the past but today was different. My wife ordered a meal that was $16.99. When we got her bill, it was $21.99. I went to the cashier to complain. He stated they changed their prices a few weeks ago but haven't changed the menus yet. I asked how they could raise the meal $5 and he couldn't answer. I told him California law requires the advertised or posted price was a requirement for them to honor. He was ot going to do that. The service is an embarrassment. The food isn't all that, but they set those prices up there like they're serving gold. The lady waitress sets the bar extremely low. It's been a long time since we've been here but our friends that we came to town to see eat here regularly and really like it. For a Tuesday night at 5:00 the place was empty but maybe it was just early. We ordered a bowl of guacamole which is the table side made kind which is always a treat, and this was very good but was lacking salt. Hubby opted for the salmon, I went for the cheese enchilada, rice and beans, my girlfriend had the chicken mushroom fajitas and her husband went for the white fish. I had a Coke and the boys went for margaritas on the rocks. Their chips and salsa were the usual bagged chips, you know the ones that have a few red and green ones in them, they're good. The salsa was good and very spicy. Hubby said the salmon was very well prepared and had great flavor. It came with veggies that consisted of bell peppers and onions with maybe one stalk of broccoli and mashed potatoes with cheese on them. My enchilada the cheese was kind of chewy which I thought was odd. But the flavor was good and the beans and rice were good. Our friends loved their meals as it was their usual. Maybe we didn't know what to order. But hubby said the salmon was really good but the sides were odd. My sides were good my enchilada was not so good. When our server brought our drinks and chips and took our order, I was so thirsty I downed my Coke and needed a refill but our server was nowhere to be seen until our food came out 15 minutes later. We work close by, and come here one to five times a week! And sometimes on weekends, too! The service here is excellent. Jorge and Jose are awesome!! Christian is great, too! Lookin for a nice place to eat in Taft? This little town has quite a few wonderful restaurants to choose from such as OT Cookhouse and Asian Experience. If you want good Mexican food, Original Hacienda Grill on 4th St. is a terrific option. I have yet to have a bad meal here. Unfortunately, I do not have a mouthwatering "Must Have" entree suggestion to offer you either. I've been pleased with everything from their salads to their enchiladas to their desserts plus more. Yeah we to taft hacienda today food was really good. Try the platter has a little of everything for you. Loved the large mug modelo especial. one of only few spots with tres xxx beer, la ultima margarita with don Julio was good one of only a few places with good Mexican beers.can't be found like this anywhere else in taft. First experience here. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The chips and salsa is great. There were 5 of us at they able and the small basket was gone. Getting a refill took a lot of time. Drinks were good and in the mugs a good sized first serving. Waitress never came back and asked if or offered to refill. The food itself was plentiful and tasty Our party had 2 tacos for the kids so the kids menu is good. One was a vegetable enchilada plate. The other a carnitas plate both considered good. I had their fajitas Got the combination my criticism is. Too few tortillas for the amount of fajitas they give. The chicken was dry and overcooked the shrimp as well. The beef was Ok in terms of doneness but not a lot of flavor. The food is quite good, but be prepared for a surprise when the check comes: The prices are 20% higher than those written on the menus, as the owner apparently hasn't seen fit to update them. The staff is wonderful! They are quick to refill my drink, ask if I need anything else, though sometimes if I take to long to eat they approach me and ask if I am done, and then start to clear the table..and I have to inform them, that I am not done...This makes me feel rushed, and I hate to rush a meal. The food is delicious! I mean everything is great! I can't decide on a particular "favorite dish" because they all are fantastic! Well, at least in regards to their food! Their daiquiris may taste good, but I honestly think they are alcohol free because those are the weakest daiquiris I have had in my life! The price range is fantastic!
