The food is pretty good, although all I've tried were the hot dogs. My problem is I think its a little over priced.

First time here I was there for lunch and I had the ham and cheese sandwich and my travel companion had the Philly cheesesteak. Mine was a little bit ham and cheese and lots of lettuce and bread. Bread wasn't as advertised it must've been leftover from the day before. My companion didn't like the Philly cheese steak but I ate it and it wasn't half bad. We were in the area for a band contest and was looking for something to grab for lunch that was easy and not too far from the football field and Joeys place caught my eye. I was working out of state and found Joeys on here. I always try to support family owned businesses whenever possible and gave it a try. The burger was excellent and the honey dipped corn dog was good too. Make sure you get a brownie while you're there. read more

Love joeys, my kids love their chili cheese dogs, corn dogs, cheeseburgers and mozzarella sticks. I love their chicken salad, Chicago dogs and polish with peppers and onions. I will always be a customer as long as they are around. Love the consistency and always fresh. read more

this is my first time at this establishment & I have to say I'm disappointed. They were not following the covid guidelines. I walked in and neither of the employees were wearing masks. The cashier put his masks on as soon as he saw us walk in. You can see the cook in the kitchen cooking the food and NOT even wearing a mask or a hair net. When I brought my concerns to the cashier he got defensive and said "well if you're not happy with it we can refund you your money." Then I brought her not having a hairnet to his attention and he said "she's fine." lol last time I checked every food establishment is required by law by the health department to wear a hairnet. read more

Not the place to get your Chicago Italian Beef fix. While the beef part was alright, they used banana peppers which just wasn't right and no giardiniera. Really? Also, the bread was funky. It was like eating pure dough. It doesn't mix well with the au jus. After the au jus was in it for a while, it actually tasted pasty. I also had the gyro. Instead of being sliced thin, it was cut in chunks, so it doesn't cook correctly. Also, the gyro was very small. I mean very very small. Quite a disappointment. read more

For Chicagoans stuck in the Chuck, Joey's is perhaps the best, but only option for Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef. They're open till midnight each night and do some pretty quick deliveries (sometimes even quicker than the 'freaky fast' sub sandwich place down the street). The food is pretty good, but as mentioned, the competition for anything better doesn't really exist. Wow, what a find! Joey's Place makes incredible food for a very reasonable price. Having just moved to Charleston from out of state, we've been looking for places to eat since our arrival and have made an attempt to shop all the local places. We've been back every day since, eating our way through the menu and have been amazed with every choice. Mark and his crew have been welcoming and have offered suggestions for us newcomers. I dropped my daughter at EIU for the week for band camp, and we ate at Joey's both at drop-off and pickup. We really enjoyed the food. The burgers are juicy, and the fresh-made toasted buns are excellent. The fries are crispy and hit the spot. I especially enjoyed the Philly Cheesesteak. It was a great mix of peppers, meat, and cheese. Again, the soft, fresh bread was perfect for this sandwich. Best gyros ever! Seriously, my husband and I have been to Greece and these are authentic as you can get. Their chicken sandwich may be simple but sooo good! Mark and Winola are dedicated local family business owners. They offer good food at reasonable prices. My husband loves the gyro and double cheese burger, while I'm partial to the veggie sub. We both love the mozzarella sticks! We get takeout from here 1-2 times per week, but there is plenty of seating if you're looking to dine in. read more

I used to think this place was ok for a cheap sandwich. Until the old-as-dirt lady running the cash register started double charging me for added hot peppers. The fact that they charge 75 cents for 3 sport peppers is ludacris as it is! When I confronted the owner he had no sympathy, not enough to credit me free sport peppers on my next sandwich. There will never be a next sandwich. Anyway, For an extra 80 cents Jimmy John's is more filling and tastes better. read more

I was craving a good Chicago dog to cure a patch of homesickness. This place didn't really do it. The hot dogs themselves were okay, but not what I'd call good. The waffle fries I got with them were greasy, and not in a good way. I love their food but I'm not gonna lie, they treated me very poorly the last time I was there. They charged my card twice and literally took all the money I had left. And then refused to give me any of the food I paid for. I had to sit there while my friend ate her food and now I'm broke.
