I would have gladly offered this place three stars for their food, but both bathrooms were an absolute train wreck, featuring overflowing wastepaper baskets of poo-stained toilet paper and signs that read, "Don't Put Paper in the Toilets". (Folks, this is the 21st century - flush toilets have been in existence since the 1500s. Please upgrade your facilities to something beyond Third World status.) If you stay to eat, try the Biscuits and Gravy - wonderfully peppery white sausage gravy over a mountain of tender biscuits. And the breakfast potatoes were really spectacular - their random sizing offers a nice mix of crispy and chunky textures, chock-full of that great oleo-butter flavor we all expect in classic diner dining. Service by the delightful waitress was spot-on. By the way, this is a "Cash Only" establishment, but there is an ATM inside.

Open face hot turkey on a croissant. Mash potato's (really good mashed potato's)

Super cute town and super cute coffee shop!…read more I drove 3 hours one way to try this coffee shop out thanks to the Discover Downstate IL app (coffee tour). The coffee shop layout was nice and inside had some cool decor. I love espresso so I ordered the Iced Vietnamese- A delicious blend of Espresso, Sweetened Condensed Milk, and Iced Coffee. I do think it could have used more sweetened condensed milk (personal preference). The staff was great and very friendly. They made up my drink quickly. I do recommend you pop in at least once to order something from here.

I did not see this coming... I am jaded by my big cities lifestyle, but absolutely celebrate small town charm when I see it. Doing a drive over from Terre Haute to Lincoln Trail Lake, we find ourself in the bustling urban center of Marshall afterwards (kidding about the bustling). Always seeking coffee spots as a place to have a cup, but also to sit and visit, I discover Gypsy Queen Coffee Bar on-line. Reading about the local lore of the history of the Gypsy Queen right after entering the front door, I am taking a breath for this place says "chill, sit, settle in, visit." Table seating, comfy living room like chairs, some outdoor bistro seating out front and lots of space, this place is most welcoming. The worn looking brick inside adds to the overall decorative warmth. Merchandise like mugs, t-shirts and hats, a gelato cooler ready to be scooped out to order, some pre-made/baked items in their cold case from quiche, to empanada like biscuits to a "big salted pretzel," and not to even mention coffee, coffee drinks, tea, bubble tea...this place is excellent in options. We felt welcomed, relaxed, invited. Had an exceptional cup of coffee and a nice visit with my folks while sitting in the big comfy chairs. As my parents enjoy the short drives outside of Terre Haute we often take, I can absolutely see us coming back over here sometime and making sure to stop in to Gypsy Queen Coffee again.

Even the menu had original coffee recipes dedicated to each of the Harry Potter houses. I'm not sure if this coffee shop was originally Harry Potter-themed or if it was only for a limited time, but the first thing I noticed when we walked in was how cute and cool all of the decor was. Service-wise, the baristas were personable and so fun. I wouldn't shut up about how cool the shop was, and they appreciated it and asked where we were from and what made us stop in their small town. We talked for a while, and I ended up ordering The Chocolate Frog under the Ravenclaw house. I got my drink fast and the barista told me to crack my cup when I was ready to drink it because of the crackling chocolate on the cup. When I was served my drink, they didn't put the lid on it because customers do it themselves in case they want to put anything extra inside. However, my husband and I both tried to put a lid on the drink and couldn't get it, so we had to ask one of the baristas to do it. She explained a trick she uses to easily get them on, and we were on our way. Seriously, such nice people working here! The latte was absolutely to die for. It was smooth, flavorful, and absolutely amazing, so it makes me very sad that I won't be able to have it again for a long time, if ever again. They need to open this place by me in Chicago or the suburbs!

Our son comes here often after he goes to Church on Sundays for a hearty, delicious breakfast. We come here when we visit him for the exact same reason- plus the fact that the service is legit. If you're reading this, you're probably in or near TH. It's on Wabash Ave and there are no shortage of places to eat. Coffee Cup has one of the best breakfasts in town (see my reviews for the other one I love)- and it's affordable, filling, and most of all delicious. We always worry our son is eating right in college, but those fears are assuaged when we take him here. Love this place- if you have a kid at ISU or RHIT- it's a winner. If you are a TH resident- lucky you- another great place in your wonderful town.

When asked at the end by the owner how everything was I let him know it was less than impressive. I said the sauce was gross. His response was " like you". Why ask my opinion then attack me? Then an overweight too-much-make-up-wearing server had the audacity to say "you ate one plate of spaghetti". Yes mam, my 4 year old ate the plate. When we left she said it was the nastiest spaghetti she's ever had. I asked twice for a water that never came also during my visit. All in all, I'd NEVER return. My issue was treated like I was looking for a discount and couldn't just be a conversation about how gross the food was. What terrible customer service.
