I finally got to try the Pancake House today for the very first time, and I can honestly say the experience was fantastic. Ryan was my waitress, and she was hands down one of the best servers I've ever had. Her customer service was truly top tier. She came by right away, introduced herself, and brought me both coffee and water. Instead of spending time looking over the menu, I told her exactly what I was in the mood for, and she went above and beyond by creating the perfect combo for me. I ordered eggs, sausage, hash browns, and blueberry pancakes. Ryan told me all about their homemade blueberry syrup, that it was made fresh from scratch daily and wow, she wasn't kidding, it was great! The food was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. There were fresh blueberries not only in the pancakes but also in the syrup, which made the meal even better. The restaurant itself was also really nice, very open and spacious, with plenty of seating. Even if all the tables were filled, there was still more than enough room to walk around comfortably. I also loved the festive touch of the Christmas tree right inside the restaurant; it made the space feel warm and welcoming. While it was a little on the pricey side for one person, the quality of the food and the overall experience was great. What impressed me the most, though, was how kind, genuine, and attentive Ryan was throughout my visit. She truly made the experience memorable and as far as I'm concerned she's the best waitress you have! I was happy to let her know that she was going above and beyond, y'all better hold on to her! I been to the OPH several times most were good to great experiences ,however as with most thing things drop off after time.to rate the last two times it would be 2.5-3 .The 2.5 was based on service I watch a couple with a small child set a table for 35 min without any waiter or waitress checking on them after the drink order taken. They finally walked out and you know what way the funniest they paid for the drinks.honest people. Now the 3 rate the crepe( french pancake) are light should almost melt in your mouth. Are here recently. Overall very good breakfast and I'll probably be back. I had the biscuits and gravy full order as well as a side of pancakes. The pancakes were very fluffy and delicious and I also enjoyed the white gravy with the biscuits and gravy. I would've preferred fluffier biscuits as the top of them seemed a little hard, but the flavor from the gravy was still very good. The juice a bit expensive too for the size compared to the cost. Typical American breakfast pancake house. Nothing crazy unique except the checkout process. Receipt has scanner to pay online, this is easy quick and no trouble at all. All restaurants should do this! Food was decent. Again typical pancakes, Benedict's, eggs, etc type of breakfast. I got the corn hash brown which was nothing great but not horrible. Friend got hash browns which were supposedly seasoned with creole flavors, but it just tasted like overly salted and peppered hash browns. Pancakes were cooked well. Plenty of condiments to go around. Clean venue with lots of seating. Social seating not really followed by all servers were masked. Quick and easy service, friendly and helpful. Happy eating. The food was not the same as the other locations we've frequented. My omelet was supposed to have cheddar cheese, but only had a very small amount clumped in the very middle. It was like a small hard ball of it. When I asked the manager about it and referenced how different it was from the Normal, IL and Indianapolis, IN locations, he just explained that other than cooking pancakes to OHP specs, you can just do what you want regarding food. SO, there was NO asking if I wanted a new one prepared correctly; just an explanation of why the current one sucked...and all but made it seem normal. That's seemingly bad for business. I DO know that I paid full price for less than satisfactory food items, as if I should have known I would be doing so from the beginning. Please be careful if you choose to visit this eatery. If you like Original House of Pancake, go to a different location. It's worth the drive to Champaign. Don't eat at the Peoria location. read more

The food was great. However, my husband had ordered French toast, but they turned cold while waiting for server to bring butter and syrup. They did remake his order and brought the butter and syrup. I had ordered the Santa Fe omelette which was supposed to come with three pancakes. We were about halfway through breakfast when I remembered the server had never brought the pancakes. The next time she came around, I let her know this and she brought the pancakes out right away. The omelette was fantastic! But if you order a side of avocado, be prepared to pay $3.50 for half an avocado. Another thing, we had like 3 to 4 different people serving our table. It appeared that one of them was having to serve tables at totally opposite ends of the restaurant, which did not seem resourceful at all. I've come here several times over the past few months, and over the course of this time I've realized the best service is during the weekdays, but not within an hour of closing. During my first visit, which was a Tuesday, I arrived late morning, and the service was excellent. The restaurant was not terribly busy, and the staff was very attentive. I had strawberry pancakes and turkey sausage, both of which were amazing. The pancakes came with a side of fresh whipped cream, butter, and strawberry syrup. Their turkey sausage is the best I've ever had. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and hash browns, both of which were very good. I tried them as well, and while I'm not usually a fan of biscuits and gravy, I really like these and would consider ordering them myself! One of our next visits was also during the week, but about 30 minutes before closing, so they were in a rush, and they are out of several items. There were no biscuits and gravy or turkey sausage. I ordered bacon instead, and it was badly burned. My husband's hash browns were sitting in a pool of grease. Had this been our first visit, we probably wouldn't have returned. Our last visit was yesterday, a Saturday, at approximately 10:30 am. It was very crowded, and the service was very rushed. My husband's food arrived later than the rest of our party's, but he said it was very good. My mother-in-law ordered bacon, and hers was just as burned as mine was on my previous visit. I ordered the apple pancake on this visit; however, they brought out chocolate chip instead. I advised that I ordered apple, and within 5 minutes I was given a plate of three plain buttermilk pancakes with a few slices of apples on top. No cinnamon glaze, no apple syrup, no whipped cream, just dry pancakes. I asked for the apple syrup, and I don't know if they were out or what the deal was, but she said they brought maple for the table and pointed to the almost empty container and rushed away. Stick with the namesake items (pancakes and waffles) and you'll have a great breakfast. Problem is the other items: Very dry but well seasoned corned beef hash. Over cooked poached eggs, might as well ask for hard boiled. Sausage gravy is an after thought but was needed to choke down the hash. Hashbrowns were very good, golden crisp on the outside and hot and tender on the inside. Omelets are large and won't disappoint, but make sure to order them regular as they tend to cook them well done (slightly browned). read more

I waited a week and a half before posting this review after emailing the address on my receipt to report an issue that was never resolved. On 08/31/22, I came in just after opening at 7AM. I ordered the Three Little Pigs In a Blanket and a side of thick-sliced bacon. I'm a regular at locations in St. Louis and have been to one in Minneapolis that are all alike in food quality and presentation, so I didn't expect any differences.. The Pigs In a Blanket at all the other OPH locations I've visited use the large pieces of sausage that are about the diameter of a quarter, but this location used small sausage links that were about the diameter of a dime. Okay, maybe food availability has something to do with that, so I didn't mind that too much, though I prefer the thicker links. The side of bacon I ordered was where I had a problem, but I didn't have enough time before going to the airport to wait to get it recooked. There were three slices of bacon, and it looks like the cook overlapped them on the griddle, as one and a half of the pieces were very undercooked/raw. I emailed the restaurant address from the website on 09/02/22, only asking for at least a partial refund on the bacon, and no one ever replied. When you add a soda, a $21 breakfast for one person is stupid expensive to get uncooked food. read more

I've been to another OPH before and had a great experience. Great food, wonderful service, excellent experience. So, when I move to Peoria and saw this OPH nearby, I was eager to check it out. My wife ordered for pickup. We arrived and parked in a spot designated for pickup and called the number. The guy said the food would be right out. 20 minutes later... we call again and this time we're told the person (Adam) we spoke with the first time was a manager, and he never told the food runner about our order. They bring out the order, and we get home only to find out a side was missing and the food they gave us was the food that had been sitting there for 20 minutes! Everything was a soggy disappointment. My wife called again. This time a different manager gets on the phone and promises entree coupons. So, maybe we can avoid the soggy disappointment next time. Here we are two weeks later... and nothing. I hate leaving a review like this, but it's not like the meal was 5 bucks. Two managers at this location failed to provided quality service. I'm sure the food would have been good if it hadn't been sitting on their shelf for 20 minutes. And the lack of follow up by the second manager... inexcusable. We have eaten at several of these restaurants in Chicago, Lake Forest, Peoria, Toledo, Indianapolis and Fishers, IN -- all great food & service and all roughly the same menu over the years.
