We absolutely love Pilot House!!!! The coffee is the best. The owner told us about how they select their own coffee beans and roast them in their unique way. The coffee is exceptional. They also have a light snack selection. We buy grounded beans for home use. They have a great deal where you buy a certain amount and get a free cup of coffee! The service is top notch. The staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful. There is a comfortable area to sit and visit if you want. There is also a small gift shop. The moment you walk into OPHC the comforting aroma of fresh brewed coffee brings about a sense of happiness only a true coffee lover knows. The atmosphere of the coffee house is uniquely rustic and cozy, almost like a winter cabin in the mountains, complete with a warm fireplace. My husband and I love to try new pour over places and OPHC has become one of our top 3 on the west coast. We love the smooth finish of the pour over. The baristas are always friendly and knowledgeable and the owner Heather was happy to answer our questions about the OPHC. My brother and I asked about the history of the OPHC (we like to hear small business stories) and Heather gave us a run down of the name as well as giving us a "Choose Monroe" magazine where they were the feature story for the month. Run by an obsessive perfectionist artisan roaster and with a focus on their community, this is a place worth stopping for in Monroe. They also do coffee "tour" and they will show you their roasting operation (really small for now). They are innovative (one of the few roasters in the US to make Whiskey Barrel coffee in limited run with Woodinville Whiskey's barrels) and super nice. Go a few times and they will remember you! I cannot recommend this business highly enough. Jeff and Heather run a really nice shop, and have a true passion for making great coffee. Every time I go in there is something new, and something creative that I don't find another run of the mill coffee establishments. They had excellent coffee. I would say however that it is not a small kid-friendly coffee shop; they have too many knickknacks at eye-level. There are other places in Monroe that are more kid-friendly like Paesanos, or Sharinabeans. This location would be great for meeting up as a small group though. read more

Prior to flinging my undying customer loyalty upon the Pilot House, I was a staunch, unyielding, steadfast Starbucks die hard. Yes, I like Starbucks coffee... but the actual reason I was willing to spend the exorbitant Starbucks prices was because they are consistent. Every day, no matter the location or barista, my drink tastes the same; the way it was suppose to. I could not and cannot get that from ANY other independent "coffee stand" ... until now. I write this review after being a Pilot House patron for many months... well, since they opened for business last winter. 100% of the time, the ladies at Pilot House get my drink correct and it tastes the same (yummy) like it is suppose to, no matter who makes it. Every single day. I need this consistency in my life, People. They give me coffee stability. And it is essential for my mental health and well being. Now I only see the inside of Starbucks on Sundays when Pilot House is closed, when I am gifted a gift card, OR when I find myself in a strange town unfamiliar with my surroundings and I sleepily hone in on the green mermaid's siren song. read more

This is definitely the best coffee shop in Monroe. Jeff and Heather are wonderful. They roast the beans fresh right there on the property, it just doesn't get any better than that. It is a nice quiet place to meet with friends or just enjoy a cup of Stupid Good Coffee by the fireplace. read more

Great coffee! I know it is good when the decaf tastes as good as regular! Fun atmosphere. Great that they roast their own beans! I hope to pop in there more often with a friend. Sat for 4 hours with a couple friends and it never felt like they wanted to be rid of us. A lot of customers came and went in those 4 hours, so they are well known. Highly recommend it! read more

This is probably the best coffee in Monroe. I don't love their hours. I leave Monroe before they open and don't get back until after they are closed and Starbucks ends up being the convenient choice for me. I don't dislike Starbucks coffee. But I definitely prefer coffee at Pilot House. The ambience inside is nice as well. The staff is friendly. And you don't have to wade through 30 people on laptops to find a place to sit. They do have wifi which is nice. Not much in the way of food choices, but I review coffee places based on the coffee. Food is just a convenience. They do have cookies and muffins. But if you want a GREAT cup of coffee this is the spot. If you want to sit somewhere cozy and enjoy your coffee alone or with a friend, this is the spot. Grabbing it to go is easy too as they have ample street parking directly in front and on the side. Not going to ding their stars for their hours but it would be awesome if they understood that 7-5 pretty much excludes most of us who have to commute out of Monroe for work each day. I don't expect crazy Starbucks hours (they open at 3:30 am). But if you look at the drive through there any morning between 5:30 am and 7 am you'll see that there are a lot of us that are having to head out to work before PH is pulling shots. Just hope they know that there are a lot of us that would love that first stop to be at their shop instead of Starbucks. read more
