Orkin removed old insulation in the attic, in the home, and garage, then added foam insulation in the basement. I have financed a high price for this service. First and foremost, I was quoted $10,000.00 for the complete project. After I received the financing, I was charged over $12,000.00 then your company back peddled and stated OH NO, that was not the quote, the promise we made was the payment would be under $400.00. Sadly, this was a verbal quote and I have no proof YOU LIED! Second, the foam put in downstairs was not cleaned up nor was it completed, I hired someone to finish the job. Don't worry, I used a different type, therefore you can see the difference. In some areas the product is so thin it's an insulation joke! Then we come to the attics, your rodent resistant insulation is nothing more than "SNAKE OIL"! Shortly after this job was completed, the rodents returned! Yes, returned! I hired someone to come in and pull open the attic access in the house, when they did this, the rodent feces is unbelievable. Yes, I have proof, I took pictures of the insulation that fell to the hallway floor, with a lot of feces and insulation. I am damn angry! I financed a lot of money and have no improvement! If I was not a person that works very hard at keeping a good credit rating, I would not make one more payment on this financed debacle! Your service is not about Investigate, Protect, Fortify, Keep Watch, Report, Follow Up, I truly believe I am a victim of fraud! Really rude customer service, named Courteney, she hung up on me after telling me that I wasted her time staying on the phone asking her questions and that she had already set up an appointment! Then to find out that they don't even service my area! Very rude, they don't deserve any stars, but no option for that so one star is being kind! read more

I am livid!!! Orkin Pest Control has the worst customer service ever!! Several years ago we began service with them. I later came to learn from the regional sales manager that the original salesman overcharged us and did not do right by us and he was let go from Orkin for unscrupulous acts. But that's not the worst of it. In November of 2022 I called to make the final payment on our account for the year (we pay quarterly) and was told by customer service that they did not see a balance on my account. I was given another number to call and was also told by them they saw no balance on my account. A few weeks later in December 2022 I called the local branch again to make a payment and was told the same thing, no balance on our account however our renewal cost for the new year was going up. (And quite a bit higher). I asked for an explanation and was told they weren't sure. I requested a call back from the branch manager. I received no call back. A few days later I called again. Customer service told me the branch manager had left me a voicemail, however I had received no such voicemail (and have record of all my voicemails to prove it. ) Christmas came and then early spring and it had completely slipped my mind that he had not called me back. Once I realized that I had not received a new bill and that my service tech had not been to our home I called again. And Again he was not in so I requested the manager to call me back. I had no clue what was going on with my account. I am always faithful to making payments on time and the only issues I had at that point was the question as to why that the renewal price had gone up so high and why had I not received a new bill. (It went from $353. to $470) I deserved an explanation. At that point I was then told by the service center that my account was no longer active. When I asked why, I was told it was due to a "lack of payment". What?? You mean for the payment I tried to pay on three different occasions?? Needless to say I was livid. I left another message for the branch manager, Robert Blanco, to call me back. Two weeks later and I still had not received a phone call from him. This was getting very old. So Once again I called and was told he was going to find out why the jump in price and would get back to me. He said that he would also take us out of the "non payment" status while he looked into it. Two weeks later STILL NO FOLLOW UP CALL. I spoke with someone at the call center who once again left a message for the branch manager to call me back. She said I was to get a call back within 24-48 hours. And no surprise but Seventy two hours later still no call back. More than a week later I received a phone call back from the manager. He agreed to give us a lower rate and would come out to inspect our property and reestablish service accordingly. I paid the portion that I had tried to pay earlier along with the new annual fee- that would give us service through June of 2024. I was also told that in June of 2024 my rate would then increase to higher rate. All was taken care of, or do I thought. Fast forward to two weeks ago. I called Orkin to see what the new rate would be at that time of renewal. And at that point Customer service told me that we HAVE NO SERVICE. What do you mean??? Again I left a message for the branch manager to call me back. It has taken two weeks for him to call me back. He told me that Orkin chose not to not re-establish my service in June if 2023, even though they took my credit card payment of $457! I received no communication from them- no email, no letter, no phone calls, nothing with an explanation as to why. He also states that they sent me a refund check in the mail in December of 2023- 6 months after they took my credit card payment. I have yet to receive any such check. Orkin Pest Control's customer service lacks integrity and professionalism. One hand does not know what the other is doing. Phone calls are not returned promptly, if at all. It's obvious their billing department is a mess. Buyer beware! Especially with their termite service!! They only care about the almighty dollar and not the needs of the customers. Find a smaller company that you can trust your home with- because Orkin surely is not it! read more

We were quoted an outrageous amount of $9000 to have a rat situation handled. The sales person was a bit pushy on the matter, saying we needed to book it as soon as possible etc. We told him we needed time to think it over. Seeing that $9000 is A LOT of money. We got quotes from 3 other companies who all quoted between $2000-$2500 for the same service! So we clearly knew we were being taken advantage of. Shortly after that, we cancelled our membership with Orkin. We felt like we were being taken advantage of because of our ignorance of the extermination process. So that is why we cancelled and will not recommend Orkin to anyone we know. read more

These guys are everything that is bad about big corporations. Take a couple extra minutes and find someone local. Despite what Orkin tells you, THERE ARE EXTERMINATORS WHO WILL GIVE YOU PRICING BEFORE THEY SHOW UP. Called and got the local branch in Manteno Illinois. I was told they could come out same day and treat the inside and outside for a mouse problem along with finding the entry point. I agreed and paid $292.18. Upon showing up, the tech looked around for 2 minutes and said "I see tracings of mice" and set 3 snap traps and said that was all he could do. He then contacted another associate, who was the structure guy that could find where they were coming from. missed a half days work and paid $292.18 for this guy to come out and say yep mice and set a few traps like I already had set. I then had to take a day off Monday to wait for the structure guy to show up. Upon showing up, he said there multiple possible entry points blah blah blah and that I could take out a home equity loan to set up the repairs since none were covered. I spoke with my wife that evening and we decided that was not the path we were taking as they were obviously just out chasing the money. Upon contacting their office the next morning, I was offered a cancellation and full refund (in writing) from Enrique the account manager. Days later still no refund and no responses from Enrqiue, I disputed the charge with my bank. Within 2 hours of dispute Enrique called and said they were only refunding $51 since they came out for their service call. I asked for his manager and he said call the call center line Im not giving you that information. Upon calling the call center for the 5th time, they were going over notes and saying I spoke with Brian which is the branch manager, I said I have not spoken with him and dont know who he is, low and behold, he is Enriques boss. He was unavailable to talk to me, so I guess Ill just go this route and continue my dispute with the bank, while warning others of Orkins antics. FYI, I hired another pest control company and within 2 days they had the mice gone and entry points fixed all for less than I paid Orkin and this was for a complete job, I am now contracted with them for monthly services and extremely satisified with the new company, just wanted to warn you all before you hire Orkin what you maybe in for. read more

I called last Thursday 11/9 to schedule appt to prevent roaches and the rep was nice and assured me I would not be charged until after they came in and completed the service on Sat 11/11 from 12-2p. on Sat they sent me a text that they were on their way around 1115a. they sent me another text that they're here on 1145a. I went outside and noone was there. I waited til 2p and no one came, I called and the office was closed, on Sunday I got charged the fee for their service, today I called and the customer service rep was far from nice. once I told them I didn't want their services anymore he then said "ok the services are cancelled" I asked about the refund for the initial visit and he said "well the charge already went through so if you wanna speak with the manager" crap service all around. I would rather dispute the charge then deal with the bad customer service. read more

Just purchased a new condo. Previous owners had a maintenance contract I thought I should continue. I noted online the reviews of no call/no shows, but figured people take more time to complain, than they do to compliment. I was wrong. First appointment was on a Saturday. Shifted my plans to accommodate. I called 15 minutes after my 2 hour window, to be put on hold for 10 minutes while they found the field rep, who then said they were still 30 minutes out. I told them not to come, and I would let them know on Wednesday if I wanted to reschedule. After 3 calls with various reps looking to apologize for the "uncommon occurrence" I rescheduled for a weekday -- thinking that would be less likely to have issue. Today I waited for another 2 hour window. 35 minutes after the window, I get a call from the field rep to say he was "on his way soon" and "didn't know my appointment window was 8-10am." NOPE. When I called corporate, she told me there was a note on my account notating my concerns and flagging lateness was not ok. Bottom line, I get it. Things take longer than expected, sometimes traffic gets in the way, or a clients needs mean you need to take more time. But by not managing client expectations via a phone call update BEFORE the window ends, they are setting themselves up for failure. read more

Horrible company. They sprayed one tiny wasp nest for $200.00. The wasps scattered and continued to build nests around my home. When I called them back(30 day guarantee) A man came back carrying a can. When I told him they scattered and are building nests elsewhere around my home, his response was 'Well you paid for one nest. Didn't you sign for that? That's what you signed for." Really? $200 for a spray? I went to home depot and got a can for $3 that kills wasps on the spot. Total rip off, less than zero stars. Horrible experience. Made my initial call on a Tuesday, finally on Thursday the inspector, Dominique, called me up to make an appointment, which could not be until the following Monday at 9:00am. At 9:20 on Monday, I receive a call that she is leaving the office and will be there in 20 minutes. At 9:55, after I took 2 minute bathroom back, I saw 2 missed calls and promptly returned them. She informed me she could not come back for a few days, but would call me that afternoon to reschedule. Never happened. 2 days later I called headquarters again and they told me they would have an inspector call me soon. Also never happened. Paid $98.00 all he did was come out and set a lot of traps . he dint inspect to try to find out how the bugs was getting in. Sat in his truck 30 minutes making me out a yearly contract which I had no clue about...I called them for stink bugs he said he couldnt spray for them until around September. Disappointed to say the least. Orkin guy came over to get rid of rodents in attic. Said he set some traps. He was supposed to return yesterday morning for the followup but cancelled 3 hours before appointment for a test?? I took time off from work. Never heard back to reschedule . Doesn't answer his texts. Said originally they have very fast response time. Don't recommend them . Week later someone came out and found 2 dead rats in the traps. Nice to know they were rotting up there. Wish he could've done his job right the first time and get a good review. read more

a first time Orkin customer. BEWARE of this company, they tell you the service will be a set amount BUT then they charge you triple that quoted amount. If I could give this company a ZERO.....instead of a ONE...I would. The tech was unprofessional and did not listen to my issues with ants being outside our house , not inside. He spent an hour inside the house acting like he was spraying. I informed him numerous of times that all of our windows were just replaced so there would be no leaks or cracks where bugs would get into the house. But the front door did have an area where bugs could enter in a crack in the trim. He did not even look at it or treat the area. He just went around spraying the new windows. Finally, he said he would go outside and put a treatment around the areas that did have obvious ant activity. I have recorded ring footage of him pretending to treat the front and back yard- again did not come close to the obvious areas that had any activity. Also, I signed up for a monthly plan of $80.90 .....they actually charged $259.50 for the tech not to do the job that was promised. I have much more to write about their billing process but I will stop at this point...I just want to warn other potential customers (victims) ...Do Not Trust this company - very bad service and the employees do not follow through with promised service details they read off their scripts. I also have recorded footage of the tech coming back to my property without an appointment and pounding and trying to open my front door. Very scary and very unprofessional. Orkin had a tech come out to my address and only service the outside of my building. I called to speak with a manager and he told me that services were still rendered which is unacceptable because the tech did not spray the inside of my apt yet I was charged. Unacceptable and horrible service. I will not be using them again. read more

The Oak Park Illinois office manager and inspector were not responsive. I had two appointments a week a part. A man was supposed to check my termite traps. He didn't show up. When I called the office I was told his car broke down. That was the first appointment. I had waited more than 2 hours for an 8-10 AM appointment. I rescheduled to today. I have been on the phone with 3 different people for a total of 45 minutes and still no service and no information. I never used this location before. I will not use that location ever again. read more

Made 2 seperate appointments. The first was between 3 and 5 ... noone showed up i called them and was told we dont make same day appointments thats why noone showed up. If thats the case why did you give me a time to begin with? So i then made an appointment the next day between 4 and 6 again noone showed up. The service used to be prompt. However no one showed for my past scheduled service. I was told they didn't have me scheduled even though I received both a text and confirmation email on my time and date slot. I had an appointment scheduled for the morning in between 8-10. No one showed, up so I called to inquire. The manager got on the call and apologized but the inspector was off. The company failed to call me in the morning or the day before to let me know. The manager then asked if I would be available next week, I had already rearraged my schedule to be home for this appointment. I should have looked at the reviews before hand, go with any other pest control option. read more

The Pittsburgh service was useless. I paid more than $600 for bi-monthly service for less than a year for an ant problem I had last Spring. When the ants reappeared first thing this Spring, Orkin said, "yea, sometimes that happens," and gave me one free treatment. #wasteofmoney. read more

I am still awaiting a call from a manager, as told I would within 24 to 48 hours because I canceled service September 27th. I expect a full refund per the Orkin Guarantee, but I am still being billed! I am on autopay and now being told I still owe the balance that's due October 9th for $82.75, even though I've had no service in October, and I paid $71.25 for September, and a whopping $223 to start it in August!! The service has been ineffective with my pest problems, and the technicians either are not covering what was promised or Orkin is false-advertising. For several reasons I am canceling and do not accept being charged again, and want all of my money back. I requested a touch-up twice in between scheduled services; and the first touch-up, the technician did not show until after the 2 hour time window, and I requested the next touch up for September 25th but there was no call and no show, so I called September 27th and canceled service altogether! I'm told my account will go into collections. I cannot remove my debit card from autopay, nor alter it because it is no longer linked to a service address, yet the card on file will still be billed!! For what?! I am truly disappointed and very angry. Horrible experience. I will never recommend Orkin for extermination of anything at all. Any "hole in the wall" business has better service and less than half the price. read more

Worst customer service! I called regarding a inspection and possible treatment for possible bugs in my apartment, two staff members told me i could get service and said that my apartment management just had to call and give them access to treat before setting a appointment, and then when i asked if they could call my complex to seek that access, a third staff member then answer and very rudely stated that they don't treat apartment complexes. And told me that i need to call another company. This company doesn't seem to know what they can or cant do, and all while providing terrible customer service. I highly recommend using someone else. This is coming from someone who never writes negative reviews and always tries to give people a break. These people were terrible. read more

I apologize if I'm not doing this right but, this is supposed to be for Orkin pest control. I just spoke to Whitney In customer services through the general website line and not sure where she is located but, she was very professional, informative, patient, and was able to give us all sorts of information to help plan for future pest control inspection and treatment for a family member. After getting great details and potential financial information, I needed to speak to family and try to call back but , found out that this is a general number and received another Orkin customer service rep named Miranda who was equally very wonderful in explaining how the service worked also. I wanted to make sure the correct Orkin site we get credit for this wonderful work, but Miranda explained that that would not be possible since I called the general website number or even to go directly back to Whitney. We haven't even use their services directly yet and I'm already liking the customer service. Looking forward to doing business with them here in the Chicagoland area! read more

I arranged an appointment for cockroach treatment between orkin and my tenant here in Lincolnwood. They offered an extended plan that consists of regular monthly appointments, but tell the customer that you can discontinue the service after the 2nd appointment. Orkin gave the tenant and I an appointment window of four to six and I showed up at three pm. I called the company just before 6:00 p.m. to ask when they would show up since it was getting late and I was told they had already been out there, but the person answering the call couldn't give me any more details as to why they came before the window or the name of the technician who came to the address. I spoke with the tenants who granted him access and they said he spent less than 5 minutes there and just sprayed some chemical then left. The person who I spoke to on the phone at orkin on Thursday evening, just before 6, said I would receive a call back early Friday morning, but I didn't hear from them. When I called again Friday morning to complain about this unprofessional service, they told me they can come out again to spray, but I told him that I didn't want to deal with Orkin anymore & they should refund the $ they'd collected. The reason they say you can discontinue the service after the second visit is because they know they do subpar work so the customer will of course keep using the service because their problem will not have been rectified. After asking for a refund I was told that a manager would call me back--I do not expect a phone call. Avoid this company like the pandemic read more

I had an inspector come out on Friday. He was great and looked very in-depth to find out the cause of the bites I was getting. Originally, I thought it was bed bugs because they had been in our home before. Luckily, the previous exterminator (different company) had eradicated all of them. The Orkin inspector did find the source of my problem-fleas. I don't have pets, and he said they may have traveled from a flea infested pet that lives in my condo building (honestly, this pissed me off a bit) looking for a host. He said I most likely came in contact with them in the building stairwell. To ensure he was right, he took the specimen to the office, had "the lab" look at it, and they verified it was a flea larvae. I was just happy to know it wasn't bed bugs. Anyway, Orkin sent someone different to exterminate and that is when it got messy. The guy walks in and starts yelling at me about how I didn't give my apartment number and how he has been waiting for 25 minutes at my house. The thing is, not only did I give ALL of the CORRECT information, but my landlord did as well. After speaking with a secretary on the phone, she said my home phone number had been written incorrectly-which is why they didn't call. She was not sure as to why the exterminator did not have my entire address. Anyway, I told the guy, "YES, I did give all of the proper information," and he started complaining about how no one told him anything. Not my fault. He was extremely unprofessional. The next thing I know, he starts spraying my room before I even have time to rescue my computer, purse, wallet, and phone. Then he tells me I shouldn't go in there to get them (yet I have to be away from the house for 2 to 4 hours). He was EXTREMELY hurried; ran around spraying bits of my house and mostly my room for about 10 minutes. It was insane and completely disorganized. Then when payment time comes, I say that I already spoke with someone this afternoon who spoke with my landlord-and they had already arranged payment. the guy THEN starts freaking out about how no one told him THAT either and he asks/demands to use my personal cell phone (why does he not have a cell phone?) to call the office. I spent another 10 minutes going in and out of my room 4 times with a napkin on my face and choking trying to recover the items I would need in order to LEAVE MY HOUSE. I cannot believe how horrible this service was, and they had the nerve to charge $199 for it. A major key point here is the guy started spraying my room and bed without even bothering to ask if I would need anything. I will go with my previous exterminator next I have a bug problem. I had been using Orkin for over ten years but recently discontinued them. Service people were very polite and friendly, but they've had too many price increases and $58 is a lot to pay for a guy spritzing a house for 15 minutes once a month. BTW, a few years ago they gave as a reason for their most recent price increase the cost of drug-testing their employees. Would I really care if my exterminator has a drug problem? read more

I have had Orkin for 17 years. The first 15, they were fine. Then they just stopped coming. The technician blamed the office -- said he was called out of town for a few months and someone else should be have come out. The office said he had been there and spritzed the outside of the property. Regardless, they kept billing me. Then they stopped pretending to come at all and kept billing me. Face it: this winter, we would have seen footprints in the snow if he had been outside the house. And I was working from home all winter anyway. He never came. They kept billing. I was robbed in January. I told them if they wanted my new credit card number, they had to provide the services they had already billed me for. The branch manager was SHOCKED that I hadn't received service and promised 4 months. They came in March. Not April. I waited till the Friday before Memorial Day to ask about May. They were SHOCKED that I had to call. Nothing in June. I don't know what happened to Orkin; but I would say if you use them, don't let them have your credit card number: they will steal your money and not provide services. read more

Called an made an appointment to get a free estimate. The day of the appointment the technician calls and says he will need payment and the owners signature to do an inspection. Which I was never told when I made the appointment. The owners live in Atlanta and if I was given notice I could of gotten their signatures. How a free estimate turned into a fee not quite sure. Won't be using them again. read more

This company is under contract to our condo. They are incredibly incompetent and worthless. In general they make things worse and the problems they create have to be ultimately undone by other pest control contractors. I have no idea why our condo keeps these guys considering their terrible history. read more

My husband and I discovered we had bed bugs a few weeks back. I'm pregnant so you can imagine how freaked out I was. I called Orkin right away and the initial inspection and treatment was all completed within a few days. Leo and Ray did my inspection/treatment/follow up treatment and they could not have been more professional. Seeing as I'm pregnant I was freaked out about the chemicals but they explained every step of the process to me and eased my mind. The entire treatment was really expensive but there's nothing you can do about that. Hoping this will be a one-and-done treatment since we caught them early. So far so good. read more

This Orkin agency is the go-to for our downtown high-rise and now I know why. We were on vacation for three weeks when a pigeon family chose our balcony as its nursery. Gary from Orkin came immediately and saw the two young birds who couldn't yet fly. Even though it was tempting to make that a "teachable moment" for the birds, I didn't have the stomach for tossing them off the fifteenth-floor. Just as Gary said, in a little more than a week, the birds were flying. Gary sent a great tech (sorry, I didn't get his name) over who handled the nasty job of cleaning up what could be cleaned up of what they left over the month or so. The cleanup was complicated since he couldn't just wash the debris off the balcony as it would have fallen onto one of the terraces below. The tech explained what he was doing and what I should be doing as followup and to avoid them returning to re-nest in the future. Excellent service from the first phone call and what I thought was a reasonable $300 total cost, especially considering the potentially unhealthy result of cleaning up the -- well, you know. read more

I can't really leave a review of their service as I was unable to get anyone over to my place to take care of the bug problem. I first clicked on the set up an appointment button on their website. I filled out the information, and was informed they would contact me. I received two automatic email replies that said they would be in contact with me. No one called me that day. So the next day I called them. After dealing with a couple of rounds of the robo-answering machine... you know, the "Press 2 for a new service call", I finally got a person on the phone. She sounded awful, as though she was doing me a favor by answering the phone. That was the final straw. After I hung up with her I sent another email letting them know I was going to go with another company. The following day I received 3 phone calls from people who had no idea I had spoken to anyone else, that I had chosen a different company, or any of it. This company obviously has poor communication, poor follow through, and terrible customer service. I used A-Alert instead, and they were wonderful. read more
