I am not new to acupuncture by any stretch, but in the intake interview Amy asked me some very personal questions that did not relate to anything about my treatment needs, but I tried to go with the flow. She recommended some books and we had a very good conversation, but then the needles started to go in. Amy puts the needles in VERY deep, which I have learned through the years is simply not necessary 90% of the time. At one point, she put a needle in my upper left shin (lateral aspect). It was immediately on fire but I tried to breathe through it. Next up, the needles went in my ears. She put one into my left ear and I started shouting, "Ow! Ow!" She almost seemed to enjoy this because she just twisted the needle in as I shouted. By the end of the session, the lower half of my left leg was completely numb, my ear was throbbing, and I was trying to focus on staying calm. I did reschedule another appt at first, but cancelled it a few days later because my lower left leg and ear were STILL bothering me and because I just didn't want to endure another session. She has a lot of knowledge but uses a very old, American-style of acupuncture that I realize is the cause of so many people being turned off by this ancient practice. I ended up getting two appointments at another clinic and had a much, much better experience.

This was my first time coming to this center and getting a full body massage. From the moment I stepped into the center, I immediately felt calm, soothed and welcomed. The entire center has an element theme. There's a room named air, fire, earth, wind and water. There's dimly lit lighting, the scent of incense in the air, crystals all around, and soothing music playing. My massage therapist was Kristine. She was very friendly and put me at ease right away. The raindrop treatment was awesome! She dropped (8), I think, essential oils down my spine, then covered them with a warm damp towel and let them soak in, meanwhile she began my massage. Kristine was excellent!!! She always made sure that I was comfortable and that nothing was too painful. The raindrop treatment helped to loosen up my muscles and also acts as a detox. It was very refreshing, even though I smelled like a "pizza" after wards. Haha...I think one of the oils was oregano. I had my massage yesterday and today I actually feel pretty darn good.
