So this is the 2nd time going to Orozcos. You can find it in Diners Drive-ins and Dives. So after a disastrous attempt at sushi across the street we decided to keep it simple and go to the place in Condado that is guaranteed to be great authentic Puerto Rican food. Coño! It was good! I'm Puerto Rican and I was born and raised in Puerto Rican culture and I can say Orozcos is legit. I ordered their amazing Chuleton Kan Kan with arroz con gandules. (Big crispy pork chop with yellow rice and pigeon peas) It was delicious but you have to eat it traditionally with your hands. Don't try to be proper just dig in like the locals do. Just treat of a piece, eat it and then eat some rice. Mmmmm!!! Don't forget their signature hot sauce it's delicious but not too spicy. My daughter and wife ordered the monfongo with Bistec and mini empanadillas which is a regular beef empanada cut in half. Mix some of that hot sauce with it and BAM! You got the perfect appetizer. The monfongo was their star. I was chowing down on my pork chop but I had to steal a few bites lol. The beef was tender and delicious and the monfongo was soaked in the steak sauce, it was bliss! I have been to Puerto Rico four times and this is the best Puerto Rican food I have ever had. First, let's talk about the service. Lény was amazing. She saw me walking by, chatted me up, invited me in to dine and the rest is history. She was so personable and so funny and really made me feel welcome. Same for the rest of the staff. They created a really light and chilled out atmosphere that was just so inviting. You can tell they genuinely enjoy working with one another. And that definitely translates over into the guest experience. The pina colada I had was hands down the best one ever. This definitely did not come from a mix in a bottle. Just unbelievably delicious. I started off with the alcapurrias. Wow. You have to get these. Perfectly fried, chewy, meaty, seasoned perfectly... If that's the only thing I ate here it would have been well worth it. I haven't had mofongo in over 15 years and I recently learned about trifongo, which is a combination of mashed sweetened and unsweetened plantain, as well as cassava. I ordered the trifongo with shrimp and steak. Oh. Wow. The flavors. The textures. Every bite was something different. At each bite was amazing. Chicken empanadillas were not authentic and the sauce was tasteless , queso frito was mid, churrasco was also mid but the chimichurri could have been so much better with not much effort by the kitchen . My wife and I were in Puerto Rico for a four day vacation and saw Orozco's on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and it was nearby our resort, so we decided to try it out. It is right on the main San Juan drag and we sat down and I ordered a light lager beer and my wife got a bottle of water. They charged me $7 for a bottle of beer and three dollars for a bottle of water. Bad start. I had Mofongo the day before in Old San Juan and this was good, but I have had better. Our waiter, Carlos, rushed us and he messed up big time while taking our order. Apparently there was a couple behind us who ordered their meals and without verifying the information, Carlos hastily told us that their bill was ours. My boyfriend eventually stopped him in his tracks so that we could clear up the mess. Once that cleared up we never saw Carlos again because hey, poor service means having your waiter not check in to see whether you needed anything. Ambiance: the place is cute but the attitude of our waiter dampened the night. Food: we waited a ridiculously long time for our food and with our waiter being out of the picture, we had no idea that the dishes we selected took a long time to prepare. Eventually the food came out. My dish: Pernil Mofongo- the Mofongo was delicious as was the Pernil. Both were packed with flavor but I wouldn't say that it was the best I've ever had-I've had better. This Guy Fieri restaurant near Condado Beach is definitely aimed at tourists. From the outside, it looks like a casual mom-and-pop dive bar, but don't be fooled--it comes with premium prices. We spent $100 for two entrées and an appetizer, which felt excessive. You can find similar (and often better) food across the island for a fraction of the cost--easily 75% less. We ordered the shrimp empanada appetizer, which cost $15 for two empanadas that were cut in half--so four pieces total. Each half had maybe half a shrimp and some cheese. Definitely not worth the price. The plated meals tasted good, but still didn't justify the steep cost--unless you're just here to say you've been to a Guy Fieri spot. Also, be aware there's no free parking. There's a small uncovered lot next door for $12 (24 hours), but we chose the underground garage at La Concha Casino--$7 for one hour or $12 for two. It's a bit more upscale and felt safer. Plus, you get to check out the hotel and casino on your way in or out. In short: If you're a big Guy Fieri fan, maybe it's worth a quick visit. Otherwise, there are better, more affordable options all over the island. read more

When visiting, I had high hopes for Orozcos after doing some research between other spots, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. From the start, service was disorganized and unwelcoming. When I began placing my order with one waiter, he walked away mid-conversation without any explanation, only for another staff member to take over. There was no sense of hospitality or excitement to serve guests--I felt more eager to be there than the staff did. The food, which was a simple arroz con pollo with plátanos fritos, took 36 minutes to arrive despite the restaurant only having five tables occupied and at least six staff members working. When it came time to pay, I acknowledged my waiter several times, but he never came over. I eventually had to get up and settle the check with another waiter. The person assigned to me seemed to be both bartender and server but stayed at the bar the entire time, making no effort to check on our table. To add to the confusion, the host who seated me wasn't willing to assist us but randomly took orders at other tables--when not standing outside chatting down the block while on the clock. Overall, the experience was uncomfortable, slow, and lacking in any genuine customer care. While Orozcos may have gained hype years ago after a celebrity visit, it is no longer worth the time or money. I made it my duty to check this place out before I left the island because it was featured on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. We arrived around 8:45 on a Saturday night and were greeted by a live sax player and then seated within 5mins. The dining room is FREEZING so I ordered a mojito in an attempt to warm up. It was very simple, not very sweet at all, not super strong either. They used lemon and lime and it gave the drink a refreshing mint limeade taste. It didn't have enough of an alcohol content to begin warming me up though and I didn't want to risk ordering another cold drink in the ice box. My friend ordered a pina colada with the same report, very little alcohol but it was so delicious she had two. The food is no doubt prepared to order, just like their sign indicates. There is a wait but when it comes out, it's piping hot and freshly made. Its good food, not the biggest portion, but there was nothing spectacular about the meal. It tasted like homemade cooking and I can't quite put my finger on it but it felt like something was missing. Even with their best hot sauce in town, I still wasn't wowed. I will say without a doubt the best Trifongo (mofongo) I have had. We ordered chicken empanadas and they came out cold, not cool, but cold. Told them I could not eat them like that and they took the plate back. 90 seconds later it was back, the lettuce the empanadas where sitting on was steaming.
