Chose it before we knew it was featured on Diner's drive ins and dives because its basically a "hole in the wall" with "grandma Style" cooking. The live saxophonist played Happy Birthday three times, we enjoyed a quick shared plate of juicy, super stuffed chicken empanadas, and truly-reminds-me-of-abuelas white rice with beans. Mofongo was DRY, extremely overpriced for low quality food. Rice tasted like microwaved packet rice, vegetables were far from fresh. The wait was NOT worth it. Appetizer- cheese & guava sauce. The guava sauce had no flavor, it was watered down and runny. Did not stick to cheese and had no flavor. Main meal- Mofongo sampler. Presentation was beautiful. -Plantain Mofongo with shrimp. It arrived cold. And if you know about Mofongo, a cold Mofongo is dry and crumbles. It is also hard when cold. But the flavor was okay. -Yucca mofongo with chicken was excellent in taste but arrived cold. Diced chicken on top was seasoned well but cold. -Sweet plantain mofongo with skirt steak- just sweet plantain packed and topped with a few strips of skirt steak. Everything was cold so it was extremely disappointing. Pique- Hot sauce was claimed to be the best but it was nothing special. Drinks- ordered water and was told they only provide bottled water. A plastic bottle of no name brand water was $3 each. Ordered 2. Service- Extremely slow but friendly. Took a long time for someone to take our order and then get the check. Ambiance- No live music as advertised. Overall- I am a fan of Guy but this place did not do his review in 2022 any justice. It seems like little effort... I hope they read this review and seriously consider making adjustments to improve the food quality and service. I gave them 4 stars vs three because they did go above and beyond to accommodate my request for a dish they no longer carry (Mofongo Sampler). read more

What could improve it? Get a "real" Puerto Rican chef! Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me! I will not be fooled a second time. We were raised eating authentic homemade Puerto Rican food, and have savored some outstanding Puerto Rican cuisine in restaurants on the island, but I have no idea what Orozco's serves. We were coaxed by the guy outside that Orozco's had the best Puerto Rican food on the strip-authentic Puerto Rican food. That guy graduated from trump university. My wife ordered the pollo à la plancha, and it was dry as a napkin and hard as leather, not to mention it lacked any flavor. It was inedible and sent back. The beans were certainly not Puerto Rican! I have no idea how they were prepared. I ordered the spare ribs ... tasteless, super dry, and hard as the sole of a shoe. Will most definitely never go there again. read more

The service was mid, there are no prices on the menu. The food was just ok, not super expensive but more than I thought it deserved.

I will say without a doubt the best Trifongo (mofongo) I have had. We ordered chicken empanadas and they came out cold, not cool, but cold. Told them I could not eat them like that and they took the plate back. 90 seconds later it was back, the lettuce the empanadas where sitting on was steaming. I told them no thanks, we will just eat the trifongo. They took the empanadas back and we saw them take the same plate to another table. WHAT??!! NO WAY!! Cozy. Delicious. Authentic feeling. All of these are accurate to say about Orozco's. But what really tips this place to 5-stars is the service! Everyone is incredibly attentive and polite. I can't count how many times we were addressed as "family" and it truly felt that way! We started with cocktails - I wanted something authentic but familiar (as the authentic rum elsewhere was enough to bowl me over, lol). So I asked what would go well with Tito's and she recommend their homemade passion fruit juice ... which was delicious! Our waitress knocked it outta the park with this recco. We had the garlic shrimp appetizer, a traditional mofongo with shrimp (and garlic sauce) and a trifongo with chicken (and garlic sauce). I wish I had a straw for the sauce - it was amazing! I've never had mofongo before but to me, it was delicious and cooked very well. The shrimp in both the app and entree were perfectly cooked and I wish I could have it again and again. Don't let Guy Fieri's review of this place make you think it's a tourist trap. We LOVED our dinner here and would absolutely go back again. read more

Not sure if they take reservations, but we were able to get one for 7 people. Luckily, we did because it was very busy! They couldn't accommodate walk-ins unless they were small groups. Service was a bit slow, but it was so busy for only 2-3? servers. Everything we ordered was really good. I especially liked the Fish Ceviche, Shrimp Empanadillas, and the Puerto Rican Combo. So much flavor and we'll prepared. We didn't know the restaurant was on Guy Fieri's show. We enjoyed the guy playing saxophone live at the front. read more

Orozco's is a casual restaurant in the Condado neighborhood. We visited during a holiday weekend and it was PACKED! Had to wait around 50 minutes to be seated and then another hour to get our food :(. The food was decent but not sure if it was worth the almost 2 hour wait. Would only recommend checking this spot out if there is no wait time and you're able to get seated right away. read more

This was the first place we are in Puerto Rico! It did not disappoint. We were seated right away and our drinks were ordered. We had a mojito and a margarita. Both were really good. For an appetizer we had the fried plantains. They were great with the sauce and some of the house hot sauce. We had two of the signature mofongos. A pork and a skirt steak. The pork came first because of a mix up with the order. We both ate it and the flavor was great! It was like a Puerto Rican stew. The skirt steak was good but a little tough. We returned to Orozco's two days later and my girl had the Mariscos Mofongo and I had the grouper in garlic sauce. The mojitos were distinctly more watery and the person who brought out the food initially brought the wrong order, which I pointed out immediately and our correct order immediately followed. The mixed seafood mofongo was not as good as the pernil mofongo, but still quite serviceable and palatable to most people. However, the grouper was delicious with the garlic, butter sauce with a hint of citrus, but the beans served separately from the rice were not on point. This follow up evening was not as impressive as the first, so consistency could be an issue at Orozco's. Just understand your mileage may vary here and it suggests your experience will likely peak at four stars, but could be less. I have to lower this evening's experience to three and a half stars. read more

Absolutely delicious! My partner and I came for an early dinner so we got seated immediately. The staff was so kind and brought out our drink right away. I got the passion fruit juice, which was okay, and my partner got the lemonade. I really like the lemonade because it's not as sweet as what you would get in the states and it's sooooooo sour! The Mofongo flavors were spot on! I love plantains and this hit the spot! The fried pork was crispy and moist. The flavors of the roasted pork was a bit sweet and lots of garlic, which I also love. Love the feel of the place, it feels like a walk in bar almost. It was even more fun because there was a parade that walked through as we were eating. My partner and I are vacationing in the Condado area, so this was a 5 min walk. Excellent choice! read more

In PR for a getaway with the wife. We wanted local, authentic Puerto Rican food, this place was well recommended (Guy F visited and gave it his nod), and it did not disappoint!! The Mofongo is off the hook!! You have got to try it!! We also started with shrimp empanadas, a couple of medallas, and on to the mofongo. There are good places to eat around here, but if you don't come and try this, you're doing yourself (and your vacation) a disservice!! We were there for 2 and a half hours. Our waiter checked on us twice. People that came after us ordered and received their food and left. The staff were rude. Stopped in for my last meal before heading back. The mofongo is back on point. I've been here several times over the course of 10 years and nothing has been like the first time since then....except for this visit. The Trifongo I ordered was saucy and not dry like I've had it before. They must have been reading the reviews because they have fixed the dry mofongo problem by getting saucy with it. I hope they keep this chef around because I was not pleased with last visit. The portion size seems just right for me after 4 or so hours on the beach. I just had a most excellent dinner at Orozco's. I can see why this was a DDD featured restaurant. The place is locally famous for its roast pork mofango. I, however, am a big fan of grouper so I had the grouper fillet with the creole sauce and the beans/rice for the side. The grouper was a PR fillet (not the monster Florida size) with a well-balanced creole sauce that flavored but did not overwhelm the grouper. The balance of the fish and sauce was impressive borne out even more by the complex, multifaceted flavors of the beans. The beans are where you can truly taste the chef's skill: incredible. The hot sauce found on the table is a nice complement to the grouper as well as the beans. Try it with a mix of the rice and beans. Orozco's gets the details right. read more

The place was pretty quiet when we got in with tv screens playing movies and videos and music surrounding the restaurant. We ordered our food, hostess a little off and wasn't sure what was available to eat or not as they said yes and no to certain items. I enjoyed my steak as it was flavorful and juicey with the sauce. My mom and aunt were not big on pernil as it was a big dry. We tried the tostones but they weren't great at all and way too hard. Not overall the best meal we had. The service here is terrible and it's incredibly expensive. We went in hungry. No food came out for an hour. Then the appetizers and microwave pizza (for the kids) came out. It was another 20 minutes before we got our next dishes. Our last dish, for my wife, came out after everyone else was done. The empanadas were decent. Everything else was forgettable.
