I know nothing about matresses except I needed a California King and I think I like medium firmness. When I got to the this store I was a bit overwelmed. Lori came over and offered to help. She spent so much time with me explaining all the little details on how they are made and comfort levels. I tried out about every bed on the floor. Lol. Lori was so patient with me, I felt sorry for here but she was cool. I finally decided on mid-level mattress that felt great!!! Lori never tried to upsell me. Bought a king size mattress in store with 50% percent présidant day sale. However when the mattress is delivered it turns out to not fit my bed. Called the store and asked for an exchange but at this time the sale is over. I could have been paid more than $1000+ without the discount however with the help of Thomas, he saved my day by applying a special exception. I'm writing this to thank and praise Lori Nichol for her help in getting a mattress and bedframe for my mother's apartment in Assisted Living. I was in need of a twin size bed to fit into my mom's studio apartment. I spoke to Lori of Ortho Mattress to try to figure out where to start. She knew all about mattress needs for elderly people, and the size that would be best for my mom in a studio size apartment. She lead me to purchasing a twin size bed with an adjustable frame. It's very comfortable, and the adjustable frame allows my mom to raise the back to watch TV in bed. Lori was terrific in arranging delivery. The cost was very reasonable. UPDATE -- after posting my review and leaving messages on their customer service line, Derek from Ortho Mattress reached out. Derek initially offered to replace the mattress in exchange for me removing my post. I would not agree to removing my post but did offer to update it to reflect my experience. Derek eventually agreed and has since honored what Lori initially promised us (i.e., to replace our mattress and only charge us the $100 delivery fee). A couple notes: (1) Derek was unapologetic and argued that, per the invoice, they are entitled to "charge a 20% handling fee." I said I know what the invoice says, but that is not what our salesperson told us. As such, I recommend that customers get any representations from their salesperson in writing - especially if the representations conflict with what your invoice says. (2) The replacement mattress appears to have been used as there were a couple of hairs on the mattress that were not mine or my wife's. Admittedly, they could have been from the delivery people so I can't say definitively that the mattress was used. Ortho's mattress replacement policies appears to be silent as to whether the replacement mattress is supposed to be new or used. I recommend that customers seek clarity on the mattress replacement policy if that is one of the reasons they are considering going with Ortho. read more

Customer service here was sub-par. The representative was not very helpful and scoffed at my question of whether there were any mattresses on sale for around $500. He seemed very uninterested and apathetic. I have 2 mattresses from Ortho that I purchased at a different location (in Mission Viejo) and have been happy with the customer service and quality. I did pay more for the quality and didn't have any complaints then. customer service is crucial in this line of work - I am better off going elsewhere. read more

After an extensive weekend of mattress shopping at SEVERAL stores in and around the area, we ultimately went with Ortho Mattress. The prices were good, and selection was great. Ultimately we decided on Ortho, however, because Lori was the most helpful of the sale people we dealt with. So many sales people were pushy, used car salesman ish, and/or condescending. Most didn't listen to what we wanted, but instead were trying to upsale us in a mattress that didn't meet our needs or wants! Not Lori! She was awesome! I called it the backroom special. :0 I was all set on buying that mattress when I said, "let me try a few others to be on the safe side. Kathi was so honest and upfront. We used to have an Ortho mattress for 10 years and we LOVED IT! When it came time to upgrade, we loved our Ortho but we decided to "upgrade" to something that was 3X more expensive from a different company. What a big mistake! We should have stuck with Ortho. After 3 months of not being able to sleep like we used to and constantly being annoyed that our new, REALLY EXPENSIVE bed was not as comfortable as our old mattress, we gave up. We called the other company and demanded a refund. We came into Ortho yesterday and Ro helped us out. She was awesome! Very helpful and very sweet. I never thought I would learn as much information as I did about mattresses and pillows until I met Lori. Her personality is not only very delightful and charming she is a wealth of information. I would like to acknowledge exceptionally good customer service by Lori Nichol who is the store manager at Ortho Mattress, Laguna Niguel. Without going into the details, I made a request for a mattress exchange that was clearly outside of Ortho's stated company policy. Lori listened carefully to the explanation of my problem and said she would try to help me. She spent at least an hour patiently showing me several mattresses that she felt would be appropriate with detailed explanations regarding mattress construction and it's characteristics. We finally selected a mattress which I was very satisfied with. At that point, she told me she would have to get corporate approval for this transaction at which point she called the main office and spoke to Derek. She very accurately explained the situation to Derek and upon the completion of his review he approved the transaction. In my opinion and based on my personal experience I can say without hesitation that Lori Nichol, Derek at Corporate and the Ortho Mattress Company truly care about their customers and will go above and beyond.
