Horrible health care! I was referred to Dr stein and he was terrible. He walked in didn't ask any questions, barely looked at my foot, interrupted me and talked over me multiple times. He was rude and made assumptions about my activities without checking to confirm. My treatment plan was 2 handouts with stretches. I asked if someone would show me any of them and they explicitly said no. But I could call with questions. Additionally, I expressed that I had pain in my ankle and hip. Past physical therapists said the hip pain was because of compensation from my ankle. Dr Stein it likely was something different but gave no recommendations for how to address it independently. Just come back in a month if it still bothers you. Stay away! read more

I'll make this brief. First, the new name for the group is The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics. Administrative Staff - as others have noted, the admin staff is not the friendliest bunch and haven't been in the five plus years I've been coming here. A simple request to have my medical records faxed to another doctor was like pulling teeth. Building - the office moved and is now in a building on 18th. That's fine with me because it's closer to my job. One problem. The parking garage under the building has no elevator. It seems a bit tone deaf for an Orthopaedics' office to move to a building with no elevator from the garage to the lobby. So if you can't do stairs, get dropped off in front. The new office isn't as cozy as the old one and feels a bit sterile. No me gusta. Dr. Sheer - I've been going to Dr. Sheer since 2015 and have no issues with him. He has good bedside manner and really appears to care. You do have to know what treatment you want and advocate for yourself, but that's true of most doctors these days. read more

I called to make an appointment for an examination and diagnosis of back and joint pain. The receptionist said that I had to be more specific. What kind of pain, which joints, etc. I felt uncomfortable providing detailed medical information to the receptionist. However, I described the affected areas. Her response was that my symptoms were in too many areas. I would have to limit my symptoms to only two areas. She explained that if they have to take x-rays of more than two areas it causes a back-up in radiology. I was absolutely puzzled. Never have I been told by a medical professionals office that I have to limit my symptoms because the office could get too busy. In my stunned silence, the receptionist probed me for my answer. "What do you want to see the doctor for? Your hip and spinal pain? Or your knee and hip pain? You can pick two. I'm sure it's all related anyway." Not really knowing how to respond, she became agitated on the phone. The combination of her behavior and the "office policy" of limiting a patients' symptoms to two areas prompted me to just cancel the appointment. Without a salutation, or care over my concerns with this policy she hung up the phone. Based on my interaction, I would not recommend this facility if you value patient care, respect for your symptoms, and just common courtesy. read more

This place is definitely among the best experiences I've had with the medical-industrial complex. The PT, surgical, and other staff are all first rate. Judging by the reviews, some patients who end up here are obviously under a lot of emotional distress, so I consider myself fortunate not to be one of those. Drs are not mind readers, and they shouldn't be blamed if they offer you advice or instructions that you decide not to follow because you googled something, or decided to take a co-worker's advice instead. I want to be clear that my review is about the admin staff only. The doctor I saw was kind, patient, and easy-going. He showed me my xrays and explained my injuries in a really understandable way. I am enby, use they/them pronouns, and my name does not match my current legal name. The admin staff doesn't seem to understand this, or gender issues. It was my first time in this office, and I needed to fill out the general paperwork as a new patient. Everything is automated with a touchscreen (a possible accessibility issue?) and you need to scan your ID and insurance card before you can do anything else. There are no fields for entering preferred name or pronouns, or even a generic "other notes" section. After doing all this, I went to the front desk, and told the staff there was no option to add these things, and I wanted to clarify this for the doctor. She kept calling me gendered honorifics and my deadname, and said the name on my chart must match the name on my ID and insurance card. I understood this, and asked again if she could even just make a note somewhere in my chart of my name and pronouns. She said no. I asked why not, and she said she couldn't. No explanation. As a last resort, I told her to just call me by my last name, and not to use my deadname, and she said no. The entire time in the office, for only 45 minutes, I was consistently misgendered and deadnamed. I'm disappointed but not surprised when people assume my gender at first glance, but most people don't dig their heels in and refuse to use my actual name. The only person who addressed me correctly was the doctor, he immediately corrected himself as soon as I told him my name and pronouns that didn't match my chart. If your current gender matches your assigned gender, I'm sure you'd have absolutely no problem with the admin staff here. But I definitely cannot recommend this place to any trans person. read more

Dr. Danziger performed surgery on my shoulder and humerus (which I happened to fracture in 3 places during a fall). He was extremely patient, answered all of my many questions clearly both pre-op and post-op. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. Dr. Danziger was in such a rush, he didn't really listen, and I never got a chance to really describe what was wrong. He just took X-rays and prescribed meds, then told me to come back for a follow-up. I felt like just a number. And my shoulder still hurts. :( Also, why are these doctors putting up with such bad front office staff? This is bad PR. At the end of my visit, the front desk said I owed nearly $450! They said that because I was in a car accident, I had to be a cash patient, and they couldn't take my health insurance (Aetna). (Btw, my lawyer friend said he has never heard of this before.) I asked the front desk ladies for a breakdown of the charges. They only gave me one lump sum of about $450 to pay. They rolled their eyes and acted like I was inconveniencing them just by asking for an itemized bill -- even restaurants give you this! They finally gave me the prices of the X-rays that were included, but they were too busy for me that they forgot to book me for the follow-up exam, so I didn't bother reminding them. I guess I won't be going back! It's not very hard to find more professional staff that don't seem too busy to help patients. read more

My appointment with Daniel was USELESS. I came in with a diagnosed rotator cuff injury and Daniel hardly examined me, gave me two exercises to do at home (didn't even want to see me do them in the office) and sent me on my way. I asked about massage and he said something along the lines of "well, if it feels good then yes, maybe get a massage." I've done more physical therapy than I'd like to admit, for multiple soft tissue injuries, so I know what is supposed to happen. Examination, measurements of range of motion, physical manipulation, heat, massage, ice, exercises, etc. I received nothing at this clinic, except for a bill for way too much money. I am done not only w Dr. Raizman but the entire practice - from making appointment, to the doctor to billing. Let's start with getting an appointment. Everyone who works there is RUDE. IF you can get through, IF their answering service actually passed along a message, IF someone actually called you back (We're busy we try - REALLY?), IF someone actually greeted you when you arrived or cared you were there, IF making another appointment and paying your bill was not SUCH a burden on those whose job it is to do those things. THEN you MIGHT consider making a doctor here one of your choosing. SO IF you got through all that and the doctor says, "Your active for your age - maybe take it easy and you won't have these issues and I won't have to replace your knee." I don't know is there age discrimination by a doctor - is that illegal. Yeah run away not to Dr. Raizman or this office. AND THEN there's billing. I get insurance payments don't always sync with monthly billing - but when you call and billing says, no we don't show you have an outstanding balance of $500+ don't worry about the piece of paper dated yesterday? And when they later charge you co-pays for a three part injection that does not have a co-pay and go round and round about $20 - but because of all of the above - refuse to pay and explain over and over and someone says they will take care of it. AND because everytime i left one of those 3 appointments I asked about a co-pay and was told there is none...... I am done. Yes a big practice with lots of doctors - probably some of whom are better than Dr. Raizman - BUT it means I have to GO THRU appointments, phone tag and then billing - forget it. read more

Dr Danziger is my dr and he is good, knowledgable, willing to spend some time to answer questions and seems to be an expert in his field. If I was rating just him it would be 4 stars. The office administration is pretty terrible and today I showed up and they said "we don't have you with an appointment today". I'm am good about putting in appointments in my calendar. Never missed another dr appt. This is the second time in 8 or 10 visits this has happened so that's 20% of the time total failure. On top of this the desk people are rude even though they made a mistake. Giving me an attitude. No "I'm sorry sir". Not the only issue I had with the office staff making mistakes. Waited for over an hour. The staff actually let a guy who just walked in after calling the day before (being told by Dr. Stein to "just come in") to cut ahead of everybody else who were already waiting 40 mins beyond their appointment times. When I finally saw him, Dr Stein was very rushed and didn't even take time to ask basic questions about my injury. He prescribed PT, even though I told him I had just come off 3 months of PT and it hadn't helped. Same thing with the imflamatories. Finally, i knew he was not the right doc for me when he tried to push a shot of steroids on me, even though I explained I had done research on it, and felt it wasn't right for me. Seems like he might be more concerned about churning patients through, rather than genuine patient care. Very disappointing experience. read more

I would not recommend patronizing this business, not if you value your life that is, Dr. Sheer was told in front of his very rail thin assistant that I was experiencing signs of and allergic reaction to acetaminophen, I pointed this out to him and her two times and this Jackass still prescribes me acetaminophen with tramdol. I'm not going to be alive if I take this prescription for the pain in my leg, I can't believe there was a Dr. and an assistant in the room and neither of them bothered to pay attention to the fact that I was allergic to acetaminophen pain killers. read more

Found Dr. Raizman on my insurance company's site. The office is very nice and extremely convenient, as it's a short walk from Farragut North metro. The check-in process was perfection: a self-service kiosk that allows the patient to scan identification cards and process the co-pay (if paying with a debit or cc). Loved it. The office does then require new patients to complete a health history form (do you have x; family history of x; etc.) but that was quick. The waiting room is comfortable. Magazines and a television help keep patients entertained. I got the impression that the office may have a reputation for long waits BUT, that was not my experience. My appointment was at 1:30p and I had checked-in, got x-rays, and met with the doctor by 2:09p. I overheard someone say that the office reopened after lunch at 1p so that may explain why I was in/out relatively fast. REALLY liked Dr. Raizman. He was shadowed by a Georgetown Univ med student and a scribe. He listened to my symptoms, asked questions, and quickly diagnosed my issue. We discussed treatment options and based on his detailed explanation, made a decision. He even showed me why I was in pain by using a sonogram. It was really cool; both me and the med student were intrigued. My only issue was Dr. Raizman's nurse. I met with her first and described my issue. I felt very rushed and thought she was asking questions but that my answers really didn't matter. I tied her behavior to what I think may be a reputation of long waits. Then they said they did not have me in their schedule. I made appointment a month ahead and was confirmed by a lady behind desk. Their service is terrible. Very thorough and took the time to clearly explain what was going on, his assessment, next steps, and expectation for how I'd progress. I have only one critique, which is that 1 out 5 appointments may seem rushed. I went to Dr. Levitt and the associated physical therapists for a couple sports related injuries (shoulder and back). I did not have any serious issues (like torn ligaments, herniated discs, etc), just a lot of muscular issues in my back and shoulder. After about a year, I finally abandoned this practice to find a doctor that really had the time to figure out what was causing my pain. I'm sure this office does fine with normal cases and clear cut injuries, but if you're like me and its not quite clear whats wrong--then don't expect to get better. I spent tons of money on physical therapy here too that did little to nothing for my pain. I eventually was given a cortisone shot, which helped for a few months, until the same pain returned... This is a factory practice--they'll get you in, spend 3 minutes, and push you out. If you want to spend time learning from your doctor how you ended up injured and what you can do in the future to avoid injury and properly heal your body--this is probably not the place for you. If you live close enough to the VA area or have access to the orange line, I strongly recommend Dr. Ward at NOVA Pain and Rehab. He's amazing for athletes. read more

Dr. Marc Danziger is one of the most pleasant, professional physicians I've ever met. Nothing about my visits with him was ever rushed. (Being rushed through a doctor visit is becoming my number one complaint with physicians and enough of a reason to switch doctors.) I was very pleased with my care, and my issue was successfully resolved. He took the time to answer all of my questions and explained my diagnosis in detail. I also went through physical therapy with their in-house clinic and was very happy with Sonya's (forgot her last name) care of me. I think the ONLY thing I ever disliked in dealing with them was my communications with the office. Some of my interactions with the office staff, in-person and on the phone, were just fine, but most of them involved what I would consider to be rude and unprofessional treatment. When I attempted to communicate through the office through the electronic avenues presented on their website, I was given no indication that my messages ever went through and was never able to complete any transactions with them that way. I'm sure if I were not so pleased with Dr. Danziger himself I would have sought out another orthopedist. read more

Noah Raizman is a phenomenal physician and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I needed to get an opinion on a ganglion cyst, which is an annoying thing that happens to your tendons when they get too much fluid in them and blow up like little balloons. They are sometimes called Bible cysts. Anyway, Noah and his team were great, he laid out all the options, we decided to go ahead with drainage, and I got everything done in about 5-10 minutes. Efficient, honest, and quick! The front office is kind of a mess, but they were nice and helped me out when I needed to run off and move my car after signing in. I thought they were really helpful. However, the setup is not good because the staff is constantly distracted and pretty loud. I found it kind of fun, but I can understand why others might not feel the same way. There were two people sleepting--and one got up, used the bathroom, and came back and went back to sleep--in the waiting room. I guess they were seeing another doctor because Raizman was fast and fantastic! I would not go to physical therapy for an orthopedic clinic, such as this one because orthopedic surgeons don't do good physical therapy. They sort of know about it, but not really, and as a result the staff is usually second tier. I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere for physical therapy and RosePT is just down the street and is arguably the best physical therapy in the city. read more

Well, it's 1.25 years later. The surgery went smoothly and I now have a steel plate in my wrist, which is back to full function and normal appearance (minus the fading scar). I did physical therapy at Danziger's in-house PT clinic, which was very helpful. I've been back to see him several times for questions and checkups, and every single time I'm amazed that this level of medical care still exists in the U.S., especially after my experiences at GW and with Dr. O'Brien. If you need an ortho, go see Dr. Danziger. He's the best. read more

So happy with my visits here. I went primarily for the rehab services and they were great. I never felt like they had too many people stuffed in one slot and they really take the time to get to know you. The doctors can get backlogged(as can all orthos frankly), but my longest wait was 35 min. I wasn't thrilled but they told me on check-in and gave me the option to reschedule. Last week I ended up going back to see Dr. Danziger both to discuss new symptoms and to talk about a previous injury...Anyway, on this visit I was even more impressed. I called first thing in the morning b/c I was experiencing possible nerve-related symptoms, and I was told to come in within 2 hours. "You'll have to wait" said his receptionist...of course this is to be expected, particularly since I was a work-in patient. Anyway, when I finally did see the doctor, he was patient and thorough. This is a doctor who listens (especially if you see him in the morning! He will take more time and you will feel more relaxed than when you visit in the afternoon when the office is so hectic). He is always direct, and wont blow you off or send you to take a dozen tests and then say "see you in three weeks" when you've already been in pain for nearly 2 months. So, know that Dr. Danziger is one of the best. Just try to see him in the morning, and don't let all the people in the waiting room (or the long wait if you have to endure one!) get you down. Dr. Danziger is my third orthopedist. After breaking my leg, I had one doctor tell me that going back to trade school only months after was a good idea, and another refuse to operate and remove hardware until at least 2 years had past after the original surgery. I decided enough was enough when I realized that the pain, even after two rounds of physical therapy and regular stretching and exercise, just wasn't getting better. A friend recommended Dr. Danziger...I went for a third opinion on the situation, a year and a half after the initial break. In June, Dr. Danziger performed surgery to remove the hardware and to see if there was any soft tissue damage that needed to be corrected... ...and, now, six months later, I now find myself with a repaired meniscus and a tibia that's short one plate and eight screws. I now have significantly less pain and a greater range of motion. I can do so much more- anyone who's ever had pain and/or mobility problems will tell you that you don't appreciate the ability to move without pain until you have it taken away from you. I'm one of the lucky ones- I got it back! I'm not saying that everyone and everything can be cured by surgery, and I'll still never be able to do high-impact sports and such...but Dr. Danziger gave me a part of my life back that I was pretty sure was gone forever. I am at risk for developing osteoarthritis in my knee early...but I'm still thrilled. read more

At the end of April, I dropped off a pull up bar during a class at a gym. I immediately went to the ER at GW Hospital, where I was given a non-weight bearing xray, a hard surgical shoe for support, and a cane (because I couldnt get the hang of crutches and they didn't feel like showing me.) I was told to ice it and elevate it for 5 days and follow up with a doctor if it didnt get better. My foot was really bruised and hurt a lot, but I figured maybe my pain tolerance just wasn't that high. About 10 days later, I dropped by to see my physical therapist and they said I really should see an orthopedist. I had tried but couldnt get in anywhere in the city. They called over to Orthopedic Medicine and Surgery and got me in with Dr. Stein, their foot and ankle specialist, right away. I was very lucky to go in when I did, because I had a lisfranc fracture and dislocation, as well as some other injuries, and I needed surgery right away. Turns out, my pain tolerance was pretty high, because I should not have been able to walk around like that. Dr. Stein diagnosed me right away. I was in shock, since I had never had such a major injury, and based on what the ER said, I thought I just had a sprain. The office was very kind, Dr. Stein explained everything to me, and when I called with a bunch more questions, including asking about why the technique he chose was best for me, he took the time to provide answers that were both clear yet medically detailed. I'm the type of person who likes to research and know what's going on, so I really appreciated this. I have a pretty long recovery period - 4 months, with another surgery to follow. I have found everyone in the office to be friendly and the medical staff does not mind answering questions. This is my first really major injury, I have horrible coordination and crutches and the iWalk took me a long time to master. They have been supportive the entire time. They are a very busy office, but my wait time has never been long. My surgery went well, and I have read from others with my injury that there is often very bad pain or issues with hardware being placed into nerves. It's not an easy procedure to deal with, but I've not had any of the major issues that I've seen other people with this injury report. I attribute this to having a good surgeon. Looking online, my incisions seem a lot better/less noticeable than comparative surgeries, and Dr. Stein used steri-strips and dissolvable stitches rather than regular ones. Before my surgery, they had given me prescriptions to fill, gave me clear post op instructions, and checked with my insurance and told me what I would pay. I felt prepared going in. They have also tried their best to help me with paperwork for work, due to my walking restrictions. Overall, this is a great office, and I am very fortunate to have been referred here. Dr. Stein did a great job with my surgery and caught an often misdiagnosed, serious injury and was able to repair it quickly so that I didn't need a more serious bone fusion. read more

As you can tell from my Yelp profile, I'm not one for leaving a lot of reviews. I'm making an exception here, because my experience was that bad. I've had various injuries over the years that sent me here, and the doctors themselves are fine. But their front office is consistently TERRIBLE. This last time sent me over the edge. Most recently, I had an ankle injury that left me barely able to walk. I received a referral from my regular doc, who faxed it over, and then I called to make an appointment with Dr. Ben Stein. Was dismayed to learn that he was booked out weeks in advance, but made the appointment anyway. When I show up on the day of my appointment, the lady behind the desk was looking at a Facebook video on her phone. She refused to engage with me until the video finished. Then she tells me that the office has no record of me, my injury, or my faxed referral from my regular doctor. Not only that, Dr. Stein is in surgery, so she has no idea why someone would have made an appointment with me for that day. Would I like a new appointment for an additional 2 weeks from now. At this point, it has been over a month that I've been trying to get into this office. I still can't really walk. This is a completely unprofessional place, which is a shame because they seem to corner the market on these types of injuries. I will gladly trek out to VA rather than go here again. read more

I have been going to see Dr. Danzieger for the last four months to address wrist pain. Every appointment he says "this is not rocket science" at least four times, yet I am still with a wrist pain. You cannot get a word in sideways with him, there is no listening to the patient. As another user complained, messages do not always get returned even weeks later. You will wait for at least 30 minutes every time you go in. I was sent to their new PT office that has no phone number and you have to physically go in and schedule an appointment - so helpfully suggested to me by the receptionist. I am not going back and will be looking for a new doctor today. read more

Did physio with Sonya after 5 months of back pain from a pulled muscle. I had been to other physios and massotherapists before, but after coming to this clinic I was good as new in less than 3 weeks. This review is for a visit I had a few years ago. I only use Yelp for restaurants, and I'm adding this review because the care here was seriously problematic. I'm not the type who writes bad reviews about doctors. I'm sure most people, including my wife, will think I'm insane to even give 2 stars. I went for treatment for relatively minor lower back pain. Dr. Danziger was very nice, and took his time with me. Did scans and decided the plan was anti-inflammatories and PT, and referred me to a PT (2 stars bc Danziger took his time and I liked the PT I eventually got to a month later). Here's where things take a turn. I start the anti-inflammatories and start developing some rashes, seems like an allergic reaction. Totally not his fault, I wasn't aware of any allergies to any meds and had never been allergic to anything ever. Nobody knew. I call their office and report what's going on. They have me come in for a new prescription. I fill that and start taking the new med. Long story short, 24 hours later I'm walking home from work at noon in like 98-degree July heat wearing a fleece and feeling freezing cold, and rashing all over. I get home and fall asleep until 6pm. GF gets home, sees me, makes me call a doc friend who tells me about allergy related infections (Google "Stevens Johnson Syndrome" images if you want to scare yourself), and after seeing that I go to ER (I didn't have that, but it was scary to see). I'm telling the ER docs the story, about the first med and then the second med. And one of them asks, "are you saying that after allergic reaction to med 1, he scripted med 2?" When I said yes, all the docs just started looking at each other confused and silent, like they didn't want to out Danziger's bad Rx. Eventually they explained the two drugs are very similar and the script was very irresponsible. So my net summary is: stuck with huge ER bill (even after insurance), a week with rash and assorted allergic symptoms, and one month delay in starting my PT. Plus of course, costs and copays related to Danziger's office. Danziger was a nice guy, but my experience was so, so terrible. read more

I did not see any of the orthopaedists, I went to the physical therapy clinic. I saw Larona Barnes for an uncommon problem that I had with my knee. Larona was very friendly and kind, but this is one of those clinics where you are one of 2 to 4 patients your PT is serving all at once. Furthermore, most of my time at each appointment was spent doing exercises that I could've easily done at home or at the gym on my own. Larona was often (but not always) busy with other patients and so she couldn't monitor what I was doing. It was probably only about 15 to 25 percent of the time that I actually spent one-on-one with Larona. It did seem like she was truly trying to solve my problem, and it is perhaps management's fault that she has so many patients at once. She certainly did run the gamut when it comes to the hands-on techniques a PT can employ. Due to the nature of my problem, I ended up having to have surgery, so I can't really speak to how helpful the PT was. Finally, it was unclear to me whether she really had my best interests in mind, or whether she was just trying to boost profits. Bottom line: not exactly personalized one-on-one care, but definitely not the worst I've seen when it comes to PT clinics. probably an average experience read more
