Great store! I have always loved Orvis products, but the cost can be preventative at times. This store had incredible deals, and we were thrilled to walk away with some high-quality pet goods, some clothing, and a new tackle bag. The store has an amazing rustic feel and is just a nice place to be if you're into that sort of thing like I am. It is well-laid out by department and is clean and well-kept. The staff were wonderful. They struck up conversation, were kind, and were helpful with finding what we were looking for. I wish it was closer so I could stop in more often! read more

Very nice and meticulously kept shooting grounds. Course is set up and laid out in a very Shooter friendly manner. The lodge and grounds have an elegant feel to it, and the majority of the staff is helpful and professional. They are a little expensive, would be nice if they can make their pricing a little more affordable, but outside of that, a high-quality & elegant, sporting clays shooting grounds. It has been brought to my attention that under new management , the trappers that work there are no longer allowed to use golf carts, which in my opinion is not the right way to treat their employees , not to mention can slow down groups who have golf carts on a busy day, waiting for a trapper who is walking behind & who tends to be a little older there , to play catch-up with the customers who get ahead in the golf carts. I'm also not crazy about the aspect that you have to make a reservation to get a trapper ...with a busy lifestyle. Sometimes I just like to go there without making a reservation , on a whim , and have a trapper available to me without having to make a reservation. Outside of that, a fantastic place. read more

I've been here multiple times over the years; I'm actually surprised I haven't written about Orvis previously. The Lake George outlet is a large, well-stocked store with a nice, open layout. I primarily visit when I'm buying gifts for others and yesterday was no exception. My dad is celebrating a big birthday soon and he absolutely loves the clothes from Orvis. Yes - some of the items are very high priced. But, the wrinkle free shirts literally lasted him YEARS....and he wears them all the time. Staff is always helpful and knowledgeable. I've also lucked out with the sale racks/sections for myself. I found this AWESOME sweater there a few years ago....this thing was originally hundreds of dollars and I think I paid $25. Yesterday, I found 2 pairs of pants as a buy one get one free - total of $39. I did drop a good amount of coin on my dad - but he's worth it. We dropped by during a recent visit to the area and came away impressed with this Orvis outlet. It's got a nice, wide-open layout that makes browsing easy. Most of the stock is clothing, though there is a section devoted to fishing equipment. The staff was friendly and knowledge about the store, and we picked up a couple of decently priced sweaters and pants thanks to their guidance. I love to hate Orvis. Everything is WAY overpriced (especially those items not made in the USA). However, they do have some decent sales/clearance/outlet merchandise here at times. Other times, it's all just retail items at full price. Do your research ahead of time and know what you're buying. Pro Tip: As of summer 2021, the upstairs area is closed, and this store is more heavily geared towards clothing, but there is a fishing tackle section. read more

I stop by multiple times per year on my way to house on Hadlock Pond. I pay attention to sales and their dog products are outstanding. Last dog purchase was an elevated steel dog bowl holder. Heidi loves it. In the SW corner of the great displays throughout the store is an outlet rack from which I have bought the best kaki's that I have ever owned. I think they were priced at $65 marked down to between 17 to 24. I own and wore to work at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory 5-6 pairs at those great prices. Outstanding! My wife has treated me to a great Orvis pleated pullover. Although a bit pricy, the quality of the products is great and smart shoppers can get good deals. Very friendly staff and an outlet store that actually has outlet prices. My dad and I stopped by twice during our recent trip to Lake George. This Orvis outlet has a nice selection and good prices but honestly it is refreshing to speak with salespeople who are fri madly and really know their stuff. I was very impressed with the he staff and their suggestions on fishing during the offseason really helped to make our short vacation a memorable adventure. read more

I have been very impressed with the way Orvis handled my feedback. I was responded to on every level. I received emails and a phone call. The CEO, district manager, and customer service each reached out to me. The store apologized for the actions of its employee and assured me that this behavior was in no one a reflection of their policies. The manager and employee were notified. Though I was not pleased to have had this experience, I was impressed with the response of this company. It was a real role model of customer service. Thank you Orvis. read more

#1 - the store is dog friendly, they welcomed our Bernese Mt. pup into the store. The staff was helpful, friendly and really like dogs. They mostly have apparel and sport equipment but there is a sizeable section devoted to dogs (no cats). read more
