We stopped by for lunch on our way to Amish country because the pictures of the food seemed to have lots of fresh ingredients and it sounded cute. It's a big restaurant off of a country road with plenty of parking. As of two weeks ago they were doing work on the highway that was kind of unpleasant with grated roads and lane closures but it looks like it will be done soon maybe.... Anyway, it's a large space with a gift shop and shabby chic decor that all appeared to be for sale since everything has a price tag on it even in the restaurant. The service was pleasant enough. The menu has fairly straightforward cafe like offerings of sandwiches and salads. I wanted something light so I opted for the cesar salad in spite of my reservations when it said tomatoes and olives were on it. Weird but whatever chicken, lettuce, croutons and cesar dressing still felt on brand so I went for it. This is not a cesar salad. It was a salad with balsamic dressing of some kind, toasted bread with the crust cut off and a cold chicken breast. And, it comes with bread but I was told they didn't have rye so I ended up with sourdough that was also not sourdough and the waitperson didn't bring it until I was mostly through eating my refrigerator cold chicken. Just, yikes. Additionally, I still don't know how there was rye for my sister's sandwich but I wasn't allowed to order it with my food. As for her lunch, the pastrami was fine but with a lackluster amount of meat. The French onion soup was the only thing that felt reasonable with quality and price. All in all, I think the snack bars or even grocery stores in the area/ Amish country appeared to have better offerings. I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch. The gift shop was cute and reasonably priced so maybe check it out for that but that's it. read more

We are going to make this restaurant our top 5 ever and plan on eating there often. We recommend this wonderful restaurant to everyone simply because it's the best around. read more

Funny place - a classy-ish restaurant in what looks like just a plain ol' place on a plain ol' road in rural Ohio. But it was good. I had the quiche of the day, and it was better than most restaurant quiches: most tend to be dense and overly eggy or cheesy, while Pine Tree's was balanced between the two. The price was good and the value at lunch was very good. The ambiance is nice, with lots of levels and rooms and huge windows looking out on manicured spaces. Our server was professional and the place, including bathrooms, was neat and clean. There's a store as you walk in selling artsy clothes and kitsch that have pretty reasonable prices, really. I wandered in today not really knowing what this place was, but I've passed it a few times going to work. I went in to grab lunch and the waitress was very helpful in deciding on what I chose. I chose the jerk shrimp salad and it came with a delicious house vinaigrette that I had asked for oh my God it was an amazing meal. She asked what kind of bread and I let her choose, and she brought me a fresh baked dill loaf. Oh my God delicious fresh and I wound up purchasing two more dessert type muffins to go. The funniest thing is this restaurant is inside a store that sells lots of knickknacks, furniture, small jewelry, and artwork. It was a very interesting experience and I'll be going back. read more

Nice place to gather in Wooster. The setting is beautiful and the back deck overlooks the pine tree farm. There are many options for outdoor dining including rooftop. There's a private parking lot, but it's gravel, so be careful if you're a bit unsteady or wearing heels. There were 9 in our party and our waitress, Faith, was friendly and efficient. I opted for the vegetarian quiche du jour (today was broccoli and cauliflower) alongside a cup of the soup du jour (apple pumpkin curry). The quiche was cooked well but I thought lacked flavor. I added some hot sauce. The soup was okay but not something I'd order again. I just didn't care for it. A few others in my party got salads which looked delicious, and the coffee they ordered they said was hot and strong. My cousin got a cinnamon muffin that she really enjoyed. In addition to the restaurant, there is also an opportunity to shop. There's a bit of everything - furniture, home decor pieces, Christmas ornaments, shoes, bakery goods to go, books, candles, etc. For me, It was actually kind of overwhelming which is why I didn't rate it higher. It may not bother others, but my personal experience was that I felt cramped and disoriented. Overall, I would return for the restaurant but probably not shopping. read more

I really enjoyed the French Onion soup- it was very flavorful, classic, and delicious. My croissant club was also very tasty! It came with a spread of mayo, that I believe was mixed with whole grain mustard and it was sooo good. I scraped every last bit onto my sandwich. I wouldn't come to PTB restaurant expecting to fill up or take home leftoverS, though. My husband was starved after cutting down our tree and lugging it around and his appetite was not satisfied with his pastrami sandwich. Although tasty! Our server was great and everyone was following Covid safety protocols. You can't beat the view and I think it was overall a real great. Stopped in with family for lunch today. Outside is very beautiful as well as the inside. The problem with this establishment is that there is not a restroom on the main floor that is assessable. If you are with somebody in a walker or anyone who cannot do stairs, go to the restroom before you show up. After ordering our lunch, I had to walk my mom's partner back out to the car and drive him around back to the downstairs door where there was a handicap restroom available. On the bright side, our meal had already arrive by the time we got back to our table. Glad I ordered a cold salad. My wife started on her soup as it was hot and she did not want it to get cold waiting for us. Other than restroom availability for handicapped, our visit was pretty good. I had the jerk shrimp Cobb salad, which was delicious. My mom and her partner had the meat quiche with cashew spinach salad, and my wife their soup and half croissant sandwich. We had the quiche of the day with the spinach salad and it was delicious. My husband had the onion soup which was ok but not special. Service was pleasant and very efficient. Reservations for lunch outdoors on a nice afternoon is recommended. My only hesitation about recommending this place is that our guest, who uses a walker, had to go outside down a ramp to a handicapped accessible side entrance . there is no elevator to the downstairs restrooms. I'm not sure how well this outdoor ramp will work during the winter months should we try to have lunch again. read more

Wasted an hour and a half drive to be met with a quoted up to 2 hour lunch wait by a lady who was very rude when anyone asked how long the wait would be. We called in advance to make reservations as we've done in the past. Was told they don't take them for the holidays. However, they opened at 11am and if we got there right then and got on the list it should be too long of a wait. We arrived before 11 by a few minutes. Had 5 groups ahead of us to be quoted upto a 2 hour wait! Clearly they didn't want until opening at 11 to start the list. So many better ways to manage all of this along with better attitudes of staff. Many people were there to support your business and enjoy your meals to be met with excessive waits, rude staff and in our case from what we were told days before, a wait list that wasn't to start until a few minutes after we arrived. read more

What a neat place! My sister in law was told that we have to stop here while travelling to an event at the Landoll's Mohican Castle, and it was close enough to stop in for some shopping and lunch. She made us a lunch reservation as was suggested, and we may not have been able to eat if she hadn't. This is a popular place, with good reason. First off, the restaurant is part of a pine tree farm, which is a hot spot for Christmas shopping. The shop is several floors and covered with amazing Christmas decor and presents, as well as some other boutique type things. The restaurant has a great menu and all of our food choices were great! I was told by our server that the french onion soup is a specialty and it was great! Service was excellent, and the view was amazing! If you get the chance, opt to sit on the balcony that overlooks their farm and private lake. The farm itself is so pretty, with several buildings including a house and the restaurant building. Behind the buildings is a lake and all of the pine trees planted for the Christmas season. If you are ever nearby, definitely take some time to stop and check out this place! read more

This was a really neat place. Firs ht time here and had a great lunch . They only serve lunch from 11 to 2.30 . You have great views of the killbuck valley, lakes and the family Christmas tree farm . In warm weather they have a covered rooftop deck. This is a restored historic 1868 barn . It has 25,000 feet of gifts, home furnishings, boutique , and Christmas shop . They are open 7 days a week 9 to five and sun 10 to 5 hope to go back sometime when I'm in the area read more

This is our second time enjoying The Granary at the Pine Tree Barn. Wanting to enjoy a beautiful fall day in Ohio we decided to make the drive from Columbus to Wooster. What a fantastic decision. We called in the morning and were able to get reservations at noon. Arrived a little early and walked around the barn. We were seated promptly outside at a table for 2 overlooking the pond and greeted immediately. The food was delicious. We both ordered the Jamaican jerk shrimp salad and they were large and delicious. The complementary lemon muffin and dill bread were a treat. We split them in half so that we could enjoy both. While it's a bit of a drive and there is a similar, albeit smaller, store (The Morgan House) around the corner from our house in Dublin, we plan to return. Highly recommended. read more

This is the most enchanting brunch spot in the middle of rolling hills. The back porch looks out on a lake with an island in the middle. The food is to die for! Truly, everything is delectable. An amazing lunch in the middle of an Amish area. This is a huge restored barn that has been treated with the highest standards of maintenance. We went for the food but it also houses a fantastic furniture store. There is also an outdoor patio with tables that overlook a nice pond. This is only Monday and couldn't make it for outdoor dining because you need reservations. Inside was still comfortable. Service was tops. Nice lunch menu. We all chose sandwiches of various types paired with onion soup. Soup and sandwiches were so tasty and served on different types of bread. The onion soup was one of the best we have had. Clean restrooms. Pie was dessert and delightful. Plenty of shopping for the ladies. Inside the barn has restored wide plank floors and three levels. Big parking lot that about filled up. We shared a lemon muffin which was delicious. This was the end of October. In the huge store anything Halloween was on sale. There is a clearance room of small items. Throughout the barn are baby, children's and women's clothing and accessories. (I wasn't looking for men's.) Walk around and look at lots of furniture--many are for you to customize, and home decor. Everything is so pretty. This location is 1-1/2 hours from Cleveland, and makes a nice road trip. We went into Wooster and found many nice shops--antique/vintage/coffee/popcorn--a great stop for a wonderful day. read more

This is my second time dining here so I think it's fair to say I would give it ****...the average of ***** for food and *** for service. I had the Cashew Spinach salad, with hot bacon dressing, which was excellent (although this salad would be better served in a bowl rather than a plate as the floor ended up eating part of my salad). The bakery was also fresh and delicious! The Grinch, however, seems to have paid this place a visit and cast his nasty spell on the employees as everyone from the hostesses to the servers to the ladies behind the store's front counter seemed to have forgotten to take their Prozac today. They just don't seem happy to work here, which is usually a reflection on management and owners. I will return sometime and would hope to have a reason to revise my review of the sad service. read more
