We made the custom order and they had it ready in a week. The lady helping us in the show room was absolutely a pleasure to work with. She was quick, efficient, informative, friendly, and super sweet. She never tried to oversell us and she even threw in our backsplash for free. Steeler sent me a written quote, which I accepted and Steeler charged my credit card. The following day Steeler called to inform me that they wanted to charge an additional $75.00 set-up fee. I told them this was unacceptable and to cancel the order. All of this communication was less than 8 business hours on an order that was going to take 1-week to manufacture. So, manufacturing the order had not been started. Steeler then wanted to charge an additional 25% cancellation fee. Actually, Steeler cancelled the order when I wouldn't agree to the set-up fee, which did not appear on the quote or invoice. I purchased the same exact material from another supplier for 60% less, without any set-up fees or sur-charge fees. Steeler is OVERCHARGING their customers. I've have not received any returned phone calls, text or emails.

I brought the window and the broken latch with me, expecting some basic assistance finding a replacement part. Instead, because I didn't have an original order number and hadn't purchased the window directly through them, they refused to help. Maybe the weekday staff is more knowledgeable, but the employees working that Saturday either didn't know the Milgard products or simply couldn't be bothered to help someone who wasn't making a large purchase. It felt like the moment they realized I was only looking for a replacement part, they lost all interest in assisting me. If you're expecting customer service, product knowledge, or any willingness to help solve a simple problem, look elsewhere. There are better options out there. Update: Reached out to Roadrunner Glass in Fremont and they were able to identify my window from pictures as the Tuscany model and the Smart Touch Latch I needed. They did not even me to come in with the window and only needed a picture. Just to add they also have a tendency to charge for items (when they are not in stock or back-ordered) without letting the customer know and were often late with their deliveries but we stuck through even so. I find it hard to believe that because of one late payment during this pandemic they cancel our credit line. I wouldn't be surprised if we are receiving this treatment because our company has a cultural name.

Reynaldo and his son, Rey Jr, did a fabulous job on my custom shower pan. Our old shower with tile…read moreand top mop failed; the subfloor and even joists under the subfloor was rotting. We already had experience with a 28 year old cultured marble shower which is still going strong; no leaks! We decided to use a cultured marbled shower pan instead of grout and tile for the replacement shower since our experience with cultured marble is so fabulous. The shower pan is a bit different from the usual shower pans they make. I needed a shower pan to accommodate a half wall, leaving only one section of the threshold for the shower door. I prefer the wall so that the niches for shampoos and soap will be out of sight. They also matched both the color and pattern of the culture marble to the quartz stone slab I planned to use. I was able to see samples of the colors in store. They also have a wide selection of patterns displayed in store. Reynaldo did such a great job with the complimentary sample color and pattern that when my husband saw the sample against the quartz stone slab we planned to use for the shower walls, he asked, which one is the cultured marble? Reynaldo was very helpful in helping me spec out the dimensions of the custom shower pan. For those of you needing to spec out your custom shower pan, the flange is 1/2 in, the curb around the perimeter of the shower pan is 1 inch (it accommodates using a stone or tile slab around the shower), and the shower pan is 4 inches deep. Their drain is awesome quality and solid brass. The city inspector was very impressed with not only the brass drain, but with how well the custom pan is graded and leveled during Rey Jr's install. We are also planning to use epoxy to face the threshold under the shower door with the quartz stone. They are very professional, easy to work with, and very timely. They came when they said and completed the work promptly. They are a family business. Reynaldo's wife helped me with color selection and pattern matching during my first visit. When we went back to finalize the pattern and color, Reynaldo helped me spec out the dimensions and provided guidance to be shared with my contractor on drain requirements. Reynaldo Jr came out to do the template, and worked with my contractor. They are all very sweet people! Rey Jr also took the initiative to increased the curb width to make the curb look even better with the stone slab. Very much appreciated! I had thought that wasn't possible, but he did it to make it look even better! Highly recommend.

Richard never tries to sell you the most expensive product PHD carries. Instead, he listens to what you actually need and gives you straightforward advice--even when that means telling you to buy something somewhere else. For example, PHD carries beautiful, high-end toilets, but this was for a rental property, so I wanted a toilet with a standard seat that could easily be replaced in the future. Richard explained that some of PHD's toilets require you to go through the manufacturer to get a replacement seat. For our situation, he actually recommended that I look at Home Depot because they carry toilets with standard replacement seats. I really appreciated that. He was focused on finding the right product for us, not simply making a sale. Richard was also extremely helpful working with Cari and me to select fixtures for the bathrooms and kitchen. Cari works for our general contractor, Elevated Edge Construction, and she was very nice and had excellent taste. Richard and Cari helped us with color matching and guided us toward products that made sense for a rental property--balancing beauty, quality, and durability rather than simply choosing the most expensive option. We also absolutely love the PHD cabinets. The construction is noticeably better than the inexpensive cabinets we've seen. One detail that really impressed us is the interlocking construction used to secure the drawer fronts. Instead of relying on a few small nails to attach the drawer face, the pieces are mechanically joined together, making the construction much more secure and durable. We actually saw the difference firsthand. One of the drawer fronts in our own home recently fell off because it had been attached with just a few tiny nails. In contrast, my husband was very impressed when he examined the PHD cabinets and saw how solidly they were constructed. This is the kind of quality that may not be immediately obvious in a showroom, but makes a huge difference after years of daily use--especially in a rental property. Unfortunately, our flooring experience was very different. We initially ordered our SPC flooring through PHD. Our general contractor, George, the owner of Elevated Edge Construction, subsequently cancelled our PHD order because he wanted to move the flooring business to Flooring Outlet and More, a flooring company owned by his buddy Hassan. Our experience with Flooring Outlet and More was extremely frustrating. Despite paying for flooring way in advance, they knowingly brought the wrong-color SPC flooring to our property and told us the color was "close enough." We were also told that getting the correct product would mean a one-month delay. When I called Hassan about the situation, he literally asked me, "Do you have one month to wait?" It felt like an attempt to use the fact that we were on a tight construction schedule to pressure us into accepting something we did not want. We refused to cave, and made it clear that we wanted a refund if they could not provide the product we ordered. Only after we stood firm did they bring the correct flooring which apparently was always in the shop. Maybe Hassan was trying to push bad product that nobody wanted on us, who knows? That experience made us appreciate PHD and Richard even more. When you're spending a substantial amount of money on a remodel, and getting things done on time is crucial, it is incredibly important to work with someone who is honest and conscientious and who puts your interests ahead of making a sale or directing business to a preferred vendor. That is exactly what Richard did for us. He was even willing to recommend that we purchase a product somewhere else when that was genuinely the better choice for our particular needs. We are very happy with what PHD delivered. Richard was knowledgeable, responsive, honest, and genuinely customer-focused. Cari was also wonderful to work with on the design and finish selections. If you are remodeling and want someone who will give you honest advice--even when the answer means buying something somewhere else--I highly recommend working with Richard at PHD.
