    What a Nightmare.

If I could give FGY Stone & Cabinet a zero or a negative star, I would. In my opinion they don't even measure up to one. They advertise white and then deliver Beige and call it Off-White...Bait and switch. They do not stand behind their product. However, what they do is protect themselves behind clauses. Our remodel stood stalled for three months as a result. I will never shop with these type of Hole-in-the-wall Cabinet retailers ever again. Expensive lesson learned, go with professionals. $8000 down the drain! Stay away!!

    a kitchen with marble countertops

The installers from FG&Y Stone and Cabinet did a great job on our quartz countertops and backsplash! They also installed the full backsplash all the way up to the bottom of our wall cabinets, notching out the new stone to go around where the cabinet side frames extend below the cabinet's bottom surface. A very professional looking job and a detail that we weren't expecting! Our sales rep, Robert Ramirez, was knowledgeable and easy to communicate with and always quick to reply to our emails. We have used FG&Y Stone and Cabinet in the past and will likely use them again in the future should the need arise.

We upgraded our bathrooms and have looked for cabinets at wayfair, Lowe's and Home depot. We thought that this place might be expensive by looking at their products but we were wrong. They are very competitive with other retailers and have good quality cabinets, faucets and countertops. We were at the time crunch because of our move and this store has helped us to get everything what we needed to finish the bathrooms remodel on time. Erika is such a talented employee and helped me with the selection, delivery and answered all my questions. She made everything so easy. Thank you Erika and FGI cabinets!!!

I hired FGY to install new countertops in my house. I worked with Robert and he was great throughout the entire process. FGY is very responsive and their pricing is competitive. Once we finalized the material they quickly put me on the calendar and their crew showed up and did the demo and install in one day.

FGY helped us with our kitchen project and we are very happy with the results. The staff at FGY are very patient, helpful and knowledgable. We had a lot of questions which they answered clearly and were very patient with us every time we decided we wanted to do some changes. No hidden costs, everything is very clear. We doubled checked, triple checked all the information with them and each time they helped us understand our project. Great workmanship!

My wife and I worked with Robert and had the best experience. We had been searching for a kitchen remodel for months - we are so happy with the end result! The customer service and the quality has been unmatched not to mention their competitive pricing. Highly recommend working with Robert and the team at FGY stone & cabinet.

I went to at least seven different cabinet places and FGY was hands-down the easiest and most professional to work with. Robert takes pride in his job he went over and beyond for us with estimating all the different cabinet options they have, even the planning moving around the stove and refrigerator to make things more functional in the renovation things I did not even think about. I got everything here from my cabinets to my quarts to my sink and I couldn't be happier with the purchase! Thanks Robert

Gave them the microwave dimensions this is how it fits in their cabinet!

If you very (and I meant very) handy with residential electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, as well as paint touch up and debris cleaning then FGY is definitely worth it for your kitchen project. But don't expect your dream kitchen materialize in front of your eyes after they are done. Granted, they have good pricing and willing to negotiate to boot, that's why we selected them out from many other contractors. But that's where the sweetness ends after $12K bitter later... They will not hookup water pipes, electrical, and vents back after ripping out all the kitchen cabinets, countertop, hood, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, etc. when they start the job. So putting them back is on you, or you can start Yelping for plumber or electrician if the need arise! And you already know there is no way to schedule anybody at moment notice, right? So have your running shoes at the ready when FGY contractors need a water valve, couple of hoses, couple pieces of 2x4... or own a fuel sipping car 'cause you going to make bunch of trips to nearby hardware stores! If you are into micro management, then FGY is for you. I have to constantly watch them when they install cabinet doors as many occasions the new cabinet doors banging on installed countertop or cabinet because their policy states they only fix things when they there. After complain about cabinet door banging on counter top, they grinded the counter top, crooked! So if you are assuming they use common senses when they install to the cabinets, you are in for a real treat! If the range hood exhaust hole on the side of your house no longer line up because the hood moves a foot from its original location due to their design, tough luck! You on your own there buddy! Or you can pay handyman (or handywoman) to fabricate that s-shape galvanize tube for venting, or if you like to warm up your house in this winter from the cooking fume then by all means! If your definition of a job well done is to move everything back in to whip up that delicious entries in your spanking new kitchen when they done, then forget about it! You will need few days or week after to scrub that junks left on your new cabinets or back splash, hook up cooking range gas, connect water lines to your refrigerator and dishwasher, plug-in all your appliances, or hack up cabinet to match the vent holes all the while wondering if your definition of job-well-done is different than theirs? If you want your back splash grouts to be in straight lines and admire the beauty of the glass titles shimmering through, then forget about it! They left a mess that required heavy duty scrubbing, dust sucking, massive clean up all the while staring that crooked grout lines all over the walls. Boy, your expectation is completely deflated when what you are seeing is NOT what it looks like on Industrial Blvd showroom few weeks earlier. If you want all the cabinets leveled after they installed them, then forget about it! Even their backsplash guys complained about their cabinet/counter top guys installed crooked! All the while you are wondering how come they don't shim the cabinet boxes so they can be all leveled, right? I am sure my floor is level because the all cabinets were leveled before they ripped them out. If your expectation is to have them complete your dream kitchen and pay them when the job is done, then you in for a surprise; it's all piece meal work/payment because the front office person that you talk to, is NOT the project manager who will overseeing the entire project, you will be their project manager person whether you like it or not. Cabinet guy show up, work on it, and will demand their money when he's done, countertop and the back splash guy will do exactly the same thing. So if you love to break out the check book multiple times, or run back and forth to the bank for additional cash then FGY is definitely for you! Did I mention creeping expenses? Yeah, they got that too.

Erika Cabrera customer service was great from start to finish. My husband and I went to FGY for our new cabinets and granite for our new kitchen and Erika was very patient and kind to us being we had no idea what we were in for! Although we had a thousand questions for her she answered them all with out hesitation. Our cabinets and counter tops are absolutely beautiful! I'm so happy we went to FGY we will do business with them again. Thank You Erika for your great Customer Service! Victoria and Robert Gibson - East Palo Alto, Ca

Based on my experience, you will not be disappointed. If you want to hear about the overall experience and level of service, then read on... I started off my search by messaging multiple people/companies about countertop fabrication and installation. Some messaged me back, some gave very minimal responses, some places had high prices, some didn't have time for all of my questions. This is the first time I've done any countertop work and I did a lot of research on many different places and scoured the Hayward/San Leandro area and beyond to look at different countertops, designs, etc. Alvaro always responded to all my messages and emails. Every single time. Sometimes my messages would be weeks apart. When I finally made my decision to go with him, it was well over a month from when I first contacted him. He stuck with me all along the way and that left an impression on me, especially in this type of business. I had a few strange questions about different options and configurations of the counters and he was always responsive with open and honest opinions and information. Once I finally picked out my material, he met me at the shop where I purchased the counter to check out the material and he helped me make sure we were getting a good piece that wasn't too warped. All of this helped reassure me that he approved of my selection and that his trained eye could notice things that I wouldn't be able to notice on my own. He picked up the slab with his truck and took it off to fabricate and cut. He showed up a few days later for the install and it was done in no time. Oh, I forgot to mention that he stopped by and did a consultation and looked everything over and provided a ton of really helpful advice and analysis of the job, how he would suggest doing it, what he wouldn't suggest etc. He also brought some samples with him for me to check out and offered a great price on countertops that he already had on hand. The entire experience is everything that you would hope for in a countertop install. I will recommend him to anyone that need any countertop work. The pricing was some of the best I could find, the work was high quality (still looking great and holding up 7 months in) and Alvaro was a pleasure to work with. Thank you very much for everything!

He was great and very clear answering my questions about the feasibility of the project, what material to use, and the timeline he could do the project in. He gave a great recommendation of where we could find a slab the size we needed (we needed an unusually large slab and he knew exactly where we could go - MSI in Hayward!). He came earlier this week to measure and make a template for the slabs, then came this morning to install with his team. It was quick, easy, and excellent! Him doing preparation with a template to take into account imperfections where we were going to install was excellent and the slabs look beautiful in our space. I highly recommend him!

Avoid for Large Projects - Poor Communication, Costly Mistakes, and Delays…read more I would not hire R&A Stone and Tile unless you are a contractor yourself and can monitor the job 24/7. They may be fine for small tiling jobs, or a cheap kitchen flip that you don't care about the quality but anything beyond that is a mistake. Project Experience: -Disorganized & Poor Communication: Ruben, the contractor, constantly miscommunicated with his crew, leading to errors and wasted time. The crew speaks limited English, and Ruben failed to properly relay instructions. -Constant Rescheduling & Delays: The project was plagued with intentional delays because they were trying to juggle randoms crew members to the job site. They do not have a dedicated crew. To keep the job moving, I had to step in and install my stove hood myself. Quality of Work: -Minimal Supervision & Costly Mistakes: Ruben was only on-site for 30 minutes to an hour a day. The crew made frequent errors, wasted materials, and ultimately cost me an extra $5,000 in materials. Unprofessional Workmanship: -A crew member (Adrian) improperly used self-leveling, causing mortar to seep through walls and doors. -The same worker almost set my kitchen on fire due to incorrect wiring. -A junior crew member (Manuel) threw away new materials, further increasing costs. -My husband and I had to redo the wall texture they applied because it was done so poorly. -The countertop was improperly installed (by Victor), leading to a post-installation crack. The contractor promised to fix it but was a no-show, wasting an entire day of our time. -The dishwasher was incorrectly installed (Ricardo), requiring my husband to take a day off to reinstall it. Material Pricing & Usage: The contractor ordered materials on my behalf, but the pricing changed and was increased without transparency. The crew also took materials I paid for to use on other job sites. Also on two occasions, we had to order more tiles at 3x the cost because all the measurements were incorrect. Other Issues: -The crew trashed and clogged our bathroom toilet. They denied responsibility until I installed a camera--only then did the issue stop. -Never reimbursed or refunded for damages and extra expenses. Final Verdict: Ruben is a nice guy and means well, but his company is not equipped for big jobs (over $10K). If you have a small bathroom tile job, they might be fine, but anything beyond that--find a better contractor. We rushed to finish the project just to be done with them, and in hindsight, we should have hired someone else from the start. Do not make the same mistake we did. 2/5 - Would not recommend for major home renovations. Recommend for small jobs only.

We hired a general contractor and agreed to use all of their selected subcontractors except for a small subset we insisted on selecting ourselves, including Custom Stone. Custom Stone came highly recommended by multiple stone suppliers and other fabricators in the Bay Area. The scope of our stone installation was large and it was critically important that we select a fabricator who had experience with higher-end homes and highest-quality installations. Our scope included a master bathroom consisting of a double vanity, an 8' tall all-slab master shower and an undermounted roman master bathtub; a large kitchen with multiple stone surfaces including a 12' x 9' island; two guest bathrooms with marble slab vanities; a guest bathroom all-slab shower; an all-slab marble surround and hearth for a 42" fireplace; a custom designed and constructed semi-precious slab backlit bar; and an outdoor BBQ counter with Neolith. At the outset of the project, Custom Stone joined us during trips to various stone yards, advised us on the considerations of different materials, and helped us to obtain the most competitive pricing with their relationships. During the fabrication process, Custom Stone sent us multiple detailed design mock-ups and welcomed us to participate in the process. They recently invested in state-of-the-art fabrication equipment and technology that enables Contractors and Owners to see exactly what output they can expect, and to efficiently and flexibly provide input into the design and configuration decisions. For example, their new 3-D Laser measuring system and real-time digital vein-matching software allowed us to approve our slab layout before the fabrication started. Custom Stone's CNC waterjet cutting machine enabled exceptionally precise cuts on the material that we didn't find possible with other fabrication firms, allowing Custom Stone to produce the highest-quality end products for our project. Custom Stone's work is uncontestably one of the highlights of the new home and has significantly enhanced its aesthetic and value. We cannot speak highly enough of their work and the process of working with them. They worked and collaborated well with other trades/subcontractors, offered up creative solutions and demonstrated an unwavering commitment to quality. When we were selecting our stone subcontractor, we considered five (5) criteria in the following stack-ranked order: (1) precision in design and craftsmanship, and attention to detail; (2) knowledge of products/materials; (3) design skill in assembling pieces to create contiguous and less visible seams; (4) use of current technology and tools; and (5) reliable and on schedule. Custom Stone achieved the highest marks across all five criteria. We would certainly recommend and hire them again for whatever scope project we consider in the future.
