I like it here. It's a no-frills type of nail salon, but they get the job done and the prices are on par with most other salons I've been to in the area. I come in every now and again for a regular pedicure - always do the extra 10 minute massage for $10, it's worth it. Just got a gel mani there too and am very happy with how it turned out. I had the most horrible experience there. The pedicure lady was nice and she did a good job but I have been doing SNS at another place for 1 year and her technique was completely off. She did not use the 3 step system that the company recommends to use with their product. The nails came out lumpy and rough and then she put lotion on my hands before the gel coat was done and when I asked her is she could fix it she said it looks fine. I paid and left disappointed. Along with that, New York has standards for the tools now that states that the pumice stone and files are one use and they used a device that I'm sure wasn't only used by me. Do not use this place. They are irresponsible. Some of their staff do not know enough English to understand what you want. Can I give them a rating of below zero? I held myself back from making a scene. My extensions burned under my nails when I put them in the UV machine. The boss lady told me, " It always burn this gel. Everybody knows this. " Well, no. I have never had to remove my hands so my nails did not burn!!!! At night some of my finger nails began to throb. This was the worst nail place ever! I know my nails are short but a mani pedi should not take 20 minutes to complete after I hadn't gotten one for many months. I had to clean up the job when I got home by filing away the rough edges, cutting the hangnails and using acetone to get rid of the stray marks. These pics were take after I did this. I couldn't do anything about the cursory job they did on my cuticles. This was all AFTER I informed the technician that I wanted short (toe) nails and that she had to cut the hangnails. This was AFTER I told the manager that I was not happy with the job. She did not respond to this feedback except to ask if I was going to give a tip. They are really rough on your nails. I have gotten a pedi here twice. I thought the first bad experience was perhaps a one-off, I was wrong. I did the callus removal, horrible job. Came home and no difference in my calluses. They made my feet rough actually! And no 2 minute neck massage at the end. Just a testament to the lazy service. read more

They took my husband and I in right away as a walk in which was nice. However when I went to pay they charged extra for my husband just because he's a man. It's all about the tip. I was a customer for many, many years. My daughter and I both had a similar experience there. One day she paid for her nails with a credit card and asked if she could add the tip and they said no "cash only" so she said her cash was in the car and she would come back to give the tip. The woman looked annoyed like she didn't believe her. She watched her to see if she would come back. When she did she was already working on another customer and didn't even look up to say thank you. I love the fast and efficient service - appointments are not necessary. Most of the staff is friendly. No massages while you dry nails though unless you pay for it - I guess I was spoiled at my previous salon. Overall, would recommend. read more

They said no, so she said she'd walk to the ATM and get cash. The women who did her nails then proceeds to stand up, block the door so my daughter can't leave, and yells that she has to receive a tip. This place I started to think was a match for me for a weekly basis is for mani pedi. However when on the fourth week of coming I found a worker that name began with S... was not good at all. I told the manager and she shrugged my statement of not getting A good manicure and pedicure off. she did not even ask why. She merely said you're going to have to remember her name and it's on you. Horrible service!! I went with my sister to have some nice sister time doing our nails together and it was not the experience I hoped for at all. First of all, they are not friendly at all and know nothing about customer service! They rush through the mani pedi and it just feels like they want to get rid of you. My manicure was very sloppy and she used a nail cutter that was covered in nail dust and there was polish on my cuticle! Then my sister acidentally damaged the polish before it dried and when she asked them for help they just brushed her off until she finally asked the third person who tried to brush her off. Finally they put a dap of clear over one part of the nail so that it just looked bad, my sister had to ask that they put it on the whole nail so it wouldn't look weird. Then when I needed to leave I asked for help to wrap my pedicure so I could put my shoes on, they finally sent someone over who wrapped my feet and then walked away without helping me with socks as you would normally do at any salon! So my sister had to help and I ended up messing up the manicure. Overall, I have never experienced such unfriendly people and terrible service! They really need to be more appreciative that they even have business in an economy like this. read more

I went in for a pedicure. The poor girl who was assigned to me looked at me as tho she didnt even want to touch my feet. She removed my old polish and very lightly did what I believe was some sort of nail care but barely touched me, then proceeded to put on my sandals to start polishing. I immediately told her to do a proper nail care and then polish. She got upset and started talking in her language to the pedicurist next to her. my mom and i always come here for our manicures and pedicures; they're fast and do a good job. however, i'm giving them 3 stars not because of their nail care professionalism, but for their waxing procedure. NEVER AGAIN will i get my waxing done there--I rarely get my eyebrows done just because they grow so quickly and it's easier to pluck them, but the ONE TIME i went in to get my eye brows done last week, they used wax that had clearly been sitting there all day and reused with previous customers and on top of this, i've been suffering from a horrible breakout above both my eyebrows which was clearly a direct result from the eyebrow waxing done last week. again, love their nail care but this place is a no go for waxing of any kind. read more

Oscar Nails is not a reputable nail shop. They use cheap products and practice bait and switch tactics. A few of my nails cracked and chipped immediately on more than one occasion. The product SNS was what I was promised but the owner told the nail tech to cheat me with an inferior no name product. After I caught on I approached the owner and was told its all the same stuff they use and my nails were cracking due to the cold weather. Believe me its a sham and the management is beyond rude. This establishment has gone down hill and is not as clean as it use to be. I have witnessed others complain about using the same tools on multiple people without being sanitized. I urge you not to waste your money or time. You will be better served somewhere else. I want to make other women aware of this so they will not get their nails destroyed. I've been coming here for years. Receptionist is so nice & friendly and staff does a great job. Just love their pedicures. I've taken my 11 year old daughter and her friends here and they are great with kids. I'll never forgot when it was the day before school when summer vacation was ending and they were packed. Place is cozy, the girls at the front were so sweet but my nail tech left much to be desired. Said very little, which is fine but when I politely explained how i like my nails, she didn't respond. I figured okay, she heard me (yes she spoke english). One of my acrylic nails were broken and she was not gentle in taking it off, it hurt bad bad when i winced or said "ow", she glared. The work was sloppy, the acrylic was too thick and obviously fake looking, she didnt thin them out around the cuticle to make the look more natural. She over cooked them in the UV making them look "bubbly". No designs, nothing just an acrylic fill was $40!! More than I paid for them to be put on as a new set somewhere else!! At the end I asked her for 5 singles, she didnt say anything, gave them to me and watched as i counted out $4, and handed to her as a tip, she looked down at it and looked back up, no thank you nothing was said.. wtf?! honestly, way over priced and her attitude was terrible.
