We shared an order of pretzel bites with cheese sauce and onion strings. Pretzel bites seemed like they were deep fried and salted. The beer cheese sauce was just ok. Onion strings were not much better but I kind of got hooked on the curry infused catsup. Different taste and not bad. We would definitely come back again, next time we're in town that is. read more

I have been doing a staycation this week and today was Germany! It was perfect from start to finish. I don't think I've ever said that abt. a dining out experience b/4. I will def. be returning! Started off w/ pretzel bites and cheese sauce. Nice and diff from the usual pretzel bites. Ordered the Wiener schnitzel sandwich and a hamburger but can't remember the name but it had beer battered onion rings on top. Everything is homemade, including the pickles! I'm not a drinker but they have enuf taps to hold up to 50 diff beers. Some were empty but still prolly over at least 40 to choose from. Service was impeccable and prompt. The atmosphere was a country cottage meets sports pub. The music was loud enough to have a conversation and hear the person across the table; it was more of a background noise. The service was excellent and exceptional, with knowledge of the 50 beers on tap. In food, I had the Haus Hamburger with potato cakes. The potato cakes were extremely great, the best I have ever had. They came with a side of apple sauce and sour cream. My wife had a salad and salmon with house bacon salad dressing that was absolutely delish. Oh my, it was a whole piece of salmon. Just a quick update of another great experience! I returned with my trivia group last night. Gotta love free trivia! I recommend getting here at 6:00 to get a table and order something to eat prior to the start of trivia. Last night I had the fish and chips and that is why I am updating. I love a good fish and chips and these did not disappoint! Fish was thick and flaky and the fries are steak fries that are crispy and plentiful! I tried the curry ketchup because it sounded interesting and I could have consumed an entire bottle of it. I don't want regular ketchup now. read more

Poor service, several times Amy walked by without even so much as acknowledging that our drinks were empty. No customer service to be had, not even a simple I will be right back. Amy was more concerned with standing on the counter and boosting about redoing the beer menu chalkboards. Amy also did not provide any specials as that was the reason we chose this location. We kindly asked to cash out after she finally asked if we wanted refills. When asked about the special's on the website .Amy then replied well it's only certain items and food. Really, more of a sports bar type atmosphere. The menu being the same. Not really any per-say German themed entries. But, the potato pancakes were excellent. Pan fried the correct way. Good selection of custom draft beers. Interesting you can order a tap beer in either 8oz. or regular 12oz. size. The 80z. size allows customers to more easily try different beers to find a favorite. We stopped here on our way home from a very long road trip. We had been on the road for about 10 hours and only had a couple hours left until home. We wanted a low key meal somewhere we could get local craft beers. I have been to STL numerous times but mostly just stick to the breweries for beer. I came across this on Untapped and the German theme interested us. It was fairly easy to find in a little plaza area. I have never been in this neighborhood before, but it was a nice area and seemed very safe. I wouldn't consider this a German themed place but more of a sports bar. Little did we know, the STL Blues were playing an important hockey game that night as well as the STL Cardinals were on. The place was packed with sports fan wearing their gear. It was definitly a lively place! Normally we wouldn't mind the loud crowd but after an exhausting day, we were hoping for something a little more quiet. The tv's were huge and so loud. We ordered a couple of beers and then started to enjoy watching the crowd getting very into the games. (Just to be clear, this is a very family friendly place, the crowd was just hyped due to the game but not wild or unsafe.) It seemed that there was really only 1 waitress working the bar and tables. The poor lady was running around nonstop. There were 1-2 young gentlemen busing tables and when our food was ready, it was a different lady that brought it out. But then we saw that lady go sit down at another table, so I wonder if maybe she was family or off-duty employee that pitched in to help out. Either way, our service was still pretty good. The food was also great. I had a honey mustard chicken sandwich that was great and my partner had the schnitzel which was good as well. The german potato salad was just okay, it looked good but was lacking flavor. My partner got the fries with curry ketchup and that was amazing. Definitely order the ketchup! Overall, we enjoyed our visit and got to try a few different beers that were new to us. read more

We are so fortunate to have Tap Haus right up the road. They keep an outstanding selection of beer on draught. I like beer, Browns, reds and stouts in particular. I'm not a fan of lights sours or IPA's. I know a lot of folks like them, and good on them for it, but to my mind beer is its own food group, much like chocolate is to some of the ladies, so it has completely satisfy. Tap Haus offers an amazing selection that changes somewhat over time and features beer from many different craft breweries in the region and beyond. Their menu lists the ABV for each in the description and IIRC, it's printed on legal size paper, so there's a lot to choose from. The service is always top notch, I hesitate to name names, but Amy and Chummy stand out as excellent. These two can manage the whole place by themselves. Amy is always so attentive and friendly. I'm not even close to a regular and she remembers the types I like. Chummy just never stands still. He is constantly everywhere at once. Fantastic! Their food menu is not extensive, but everything we've had on it has been great. Their Patty Melt and Bang Bang Shrimp tacos are standouts. The place is sparsely decorated in a sort of old world tavern style with benches and tables along one wall with rest as high tops. The bar is long. Plenty of TV displays. OSP Tap Haus is a regular hangout for a friend of mine. Every time I've accompanied them, I've always been able to snag a seat at the bar. There are several tv's to catch whatever game may be playing. The selection of beers rotate and there is always something new to try. The Tap Haus also serves food. The menu is eclectic comfort bar food. They have the trusty go-to items such as wings and pretzel bites. Sandwiches, burgers, and salads appeals to any appetite. While the food is good, and I've tried several things there weren't any stand outs for me. My favorite thing on the menu is the curry ketchup served with the fries. Beautiful evening on the patio. Great Reuben and brat. Potato pancakes were really good too. House salad dressing was terrific but they use bagged greens which is a pet peeve of mine. Hate that chemical aftertaste. Service was excellent. A few items on the menu weren't available due to shortages and unavailability. That's so sad. So many restaurants are working so hard and still struggling. If you're a beer drinker the beer list has great variety. If you're planning dinner out, give this place a try. The beer selection at OSP was really impressive, and not what I expected from the unassuming exterior. The sports bar vibe is complemented nicely but the wide range of beer taps, stocked bar and German-inspired food menu. I've only been here for drinks, but from the looks of other people's food, it looks delicious. A cool thing about OSP is that the same owners have the place next door, and when OSP stops serving food, you can order from it's sister bar that specializes in late night. read more

I've been here before when I travel from Denver to visit family. Nice beer selection, but you can't have a free sample taste, which you can get at any microbrew in Colorado. Food and service is good and priced accordingly, so don't nickel dime me with the surprise 3.5% up charge for using my credit card. That's BS! I really like the OSP, though one HAS to be a BIG beer drinker to truly appreciate it. I do indeed enjoy my occasional brew, but I lean toward the hard stuff for that quick buzz, like vodkas. We were excited to try this small tap haus after reading so many good reviews. Sadly, it fell very flat of expectations. Beer selection was ok. I like a dry cider but the three ciders offered were all super sweet. Flights were reasonable but small portions. We ordered potato pancakes and fish and "chips." While plates were hot the food was just warm and everything was very deep fried. You could taste the grease first. We received the cheese balls by accuse instead of the potato pancakes initially. We each just had one to try them and again, greasy. I actually felt the food upset my stomach later that day. The server was nice. The bartender seemed upset with life. Ambience was fine. No nfl channel for tv. We won't be back nor will I be suggesting this place to anyone. read more

Awesome craft beer bar! I've only been here two times since I don't live in the area, but I have had a great experience both times. The bartenders have been super nice and very willing to give suggestions on what beers to try. A couple of months ago, they offered samples of their beer on tap before committing to buying a full pint. No more free samples, but now they offer half pours for half price. What a great option for those wanting to try more types of beer. Fantastic craft beer selection- great beer menu that gives descriptions and locations of each beer. They have some good bar food. I've ordered the pretzels with beer cheese- OMG get in my mouth! The pretzels are like deep fried in butter goodness. And the cheese to dip them in is just icing on the cake. We literally made the trip to go here a 2nd time just so I could get at those pretzels again. There is a shared patio with the sports bar next door. If you order food from the other restaurant, you will have a bill from the other restaurant (even though they have the same owners). Although I've had dinner at Tap Haus, it's primarily my go-to for beer and appetizers. The beer selection is excellent and the food is surprisingly good for a tavern although the menu is rather short and rarely changes. The service is always friendly and helpful, especially Tony and Nate. My only 'complaint' is that the beer could be a bit colder; but maybe that's just me. Once you fight your way through the horrific traffic on Telegraph this fun little place to visit. They have a decent size local draft beer list that rotates seasonally. It's not the biggest craft list I've seen but has enough variety for everyone to find something they like. They have a full bar too for those who go to a Tap Haus and don't like beer(seems like there is one in every crowd). I can't speak for their food though the menu looked good and the food smelled really good. Applesauce on potato cakes??? Apparently this is a thing I learned while I was there. We had 3 different servers while there and not sure why but it's all good they kept our glasses full. They were hard to identify though since there aren't uniforms of any kind. Twice I just thought random people were walking up to our table to chat, you know because we're that cool every one wants to be our friend, ha! The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 star is unrelated to food, drink or service. It's a smoke free establishment which isn't yet the law in St Louis County, however they allow vaping inside. Wow. What a place. The service was abysmal at best. Our waitress let our empty glasses sit on our tables for so long that we had to go to the bar to order more beer. She was so absent that if she weren't the *only* waitress working, I would have forgotten who was serving us. And it wasn't busy !!! 4 tables MAX for the couple hours we were there. "No samples" is a weird hardline for a tap house. I understand limiting people who seem like they want to just get drunk for free, but if I'm honestly interested in a drink , I'd rather get a taste (or pay $2 for 3 oz!) then have to buy an 8 oz pour of something I'd hate. The food was beyond terrible. The "fish" n chips? 3 fish sticks with a mountain of steak fries. Greasy and flavorless, except for the tartar sauce which at first I was excited about because I saw dill. The moment it hit my tongue though I was horrified. It was so salty I almost finished my fresh beer. The pretzel bites are literally sliced pretzel deep fried. I figured they would be nuggets. Boyfriend got the schnitzel with "German" potato salad. Schnitzel was blah. Horseradish sauce was bad but honestly the best part of the sandwich. The potato salad tasted like it came from a tub from sams club. The worst part though ? THERE IS A 3.5% CHARGE FOR CREDIT/DEBIT. WHAT THE HECK. this is 2019 and we had a $79 bill. This is completely unacceptable. At first my boyfriend and I were like "well. Despite the terrible service and awful food, it wouldn't be bad to return for good beer selection". But after seeing that BS charge, hell no. No more service from us. The two stars are for the bus boy. The ONLY person actually working in the entire place. He was constantly clearing tables, asking guests if they were ok, filling water, sweeping, etc. I wish we could have given him our entire tip. read more

Amazing food, beer, and customer service is top notch. If you're looking for a hangout on Friday nights with friends this is the place. However this is not the place to complain about a 3.5% credit card fee. You will get shit on by local patrons. Credit card processing fees will typically cost a business 1.5% to 3.5% of each transaction's total. For a sale of $100, that means you could pay $1.50 to $3.50 in credit card fees. For a small business, these fees can be a significant expense. Keep your bummy ass home if you can't afford to tip! =) read more

I was excited to try this pub but when I asked to try a beer the bar tender said we don't do that. What? Have you ever gone to a tap house/craft brew house that doesn't let you try a brew? Maybe a new owner with little experience? Heard that Colleen the manager is a little short tempered and rather than try to make peace online she acts like a new supervisor and says, "I am "proud" the bar tender didn't give a sample". What? That tells you how confrontational she will be. Interestingly I see another review and it says the bar tender seems to be mad at life. I am sure we had her as she took great glee in saying NO SAMPLES! Whether they post "no samples" or not is a ridiculous response from her. The question was why not? With her attitude, can you imagine if you had a service issue at this place and Colleen was called to help? Surely an altercation and a ruined evening. Who wants a confrontation at dinner? Think about this. An average bill at a pub is about $50.00; so I left because of their cheapness....how "business savvy" were they really (Colleen brags that she is very smart)?? Clearly the tab would have more than paid for the lousy 1-2 ounce sample! And since every other bar in St Louis will give a sample, how expensive can that possibly be...??? Seems like a bad business decision to me. At least I tried this so called German place (other than Brats and German pancakes there was nothing German about it...it's just another sports bar)...and now that I heard the Sports Pub next door is owned by the Tap Haus I will not be going back there either. She asked me to call her which I thought was nice...but what would we say?? I would tell her every other bar in St Louis does samples and she would tell me what a great business person she is etc etc....clearly a waste of time. So for me...?
