My family and I went to Osprey's Dominion Vineyards on Friday, July 4th. We had purchased Groupons beforehand. Since we were a group of 7 and the offer only comes in a package for 2 or for 4, we bought two Groupons for the Wine Tasting Experience for four persons. The Wine Tasting Experience included a Boar's Head platter featuring uncured Genoa salami and mozzarella, and Wheat Thins crackers to share, wineglasses for each person to take home, and 5 wine tastings per person. When we arrived at Osprey's Dominion Vineyards, there were plenty of parking spots and we checked in at the Tasting Room. The staff member provided us with 8 wine tasting placemats so we could indicate which wine tastings we would like and briefly explained the different types of wine. We could choose from the red, white, reserve, and the dessert wine list. I chose mostly whites and 2 rosés. My favorite was the Semi-Dry Riesling, though the Gewurztraminer was a close second. There are plenty of tables in the Tasting Room with large windows and even more tables outside. Outside, there are some tables on the patio and even more tables on the great lawn with barbecue pits. Osprey's Dominion Vineyards allows guests to bring their own picnic lunches, which is wonderful. We had prepared some charcuterie, fruit, chips, and sandwiches. After we finished our wine tastings, I purchased a bottle of Semi-Dry Riesling 2018 and Malbec 2019 for us to share. Since we were Groupon customers, we received a 20% discount on the wine-bottle purchase. There is an even a 30% discount on a purchase of three bottles or more. My family took advantage the case offer for $119. Osprey's Dominion Vineyards was not busy on July 4th and we all had a great time at the vineyards. It was a beautiful day with not a single cloud in the sky. Staff were very friendly and carried out the case to our car. The Boar's Head platter was a little small for 2 people to share, so it was great that we could bring outside food. Started a wine tour of East End vineyards at Osprey and was reluctant to leave. Staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming. The vineyard allowed outside food to be brought in which not many do allow. Weather was perfect to sit outside and listen to the live music offered that day ( Saturday ) enjoying the wine and our cheese tray. We were also able to take advantage of their wine sale: case of assorted wines for only $100!! Fantastic bargain. There was a good selection of wines available ( reds and whites) ranging from $18 to $40 a bottle so if you like Osprey wine don't pass up this sale. Overall a nice vineyard allowing outside food, offering a nice selection of wines with plenty of inside and outside seating with live music on weekends. read more

If you're up for making your way out, waaaaaaay out, on the North Fork with the fam then this is one of the vineyards to go to. Perfect for big gatherings which is what we had. All the families that came together brought their own food whether it be a fruit platter, cookie trays, meat/cheese boards, etc. It was all allowed. In the tasting room, which is quite cute, you'll find an assortment of snacks and trinkets. We bought cases of wine for us to enjoy (responsibly of course, my husband was my DD) while we ran after the kids. There was an awesome duo playing music. We had an absolute blast, as it was amazing day weather wise. Make sure to hold your spot by making a reservation. Coming with a group of like 20 people, the case of wine is the way to go. My boyfriend and family came here for a tasting. We purchased the Groupon which included a tasting for 4, plus 2 boars head cheese and meat snack platters and wheat thins. All of us agreed that the wine was not the best that we've had. My favorite though was the semi dry Riesling. Service was okay. We were greeted and then served. Nothing overly personal or interactive. There is seating inside and outside. It also appeared to be kid friendly. Of course not everyone is going to like every wine that they have and every vineyard they go to. Take a chance...your taste might be different than ours. You never know. We tasted 4 wines and my favorite was the Riesling so I got a bottle to take home with me. I'd skip the sangria next time it was watered down. But don't skip the guac and chips! My wife received a Groupon for her Birthday for Osprey Dominion so before it expired we went to the winery on a Wednesday afternoon. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to try their wines. Upon arrival we went up to bar and before we can say anything the gentleman said to us, you have a Groupon! And we said yes and he was somewhat curt and placed flight sheets on the bar with the so called meat and cheese platter with crackers, which consisted of a paper plate, a packet of meat and cheese and a small bag of wheat thins. No presentation what's so ever, like being in a fast food counter service. We choose the wines and took them with our platter to the outside tables. All the wines were good and we enjoyed all sitting outside on a beautiful day in beautiful outdoor setting. The winery was very nice, clean and all was up to date. All was good except for the platter, maybe a better presentation with some other crackers other than wheat thins and not in a small bag. read more

I came here as part of a wine bus tour. It was my least favorite of the three wineries we visited. We felt like just a number here, as it wasn't a very personalized experience. An employee came on to our bus to welcome us but after that, we were pretty much on our own. We tasted four wines, which were served in plastic cups. Other than brief descriptions printed on a sheet on the serving tray, not much information was shared about the wines. You could purchase hot dogs here as well as "sangria," which was basically just a rose spritzer. We walked through the vineyards but they were not as picturesque as other spots. One nice touch was that there was a band playing live music. It's a decent place to visit and a nice outdoor option to get out of NYC but wouldn't be at the top of my list to return to. read more

I recently came to this winery with a large group. We came on a Saturday afternoon in June. The weather was nice out, so we sat in their outdoor seating section. This area was very large and had lots of tables, with umbrellas as well to block the sunlight. I enjoy a good tasting red wine, and this place has some amazing red wines. I tried a few of them out, and everyone was delicious. The rest of my group also enjoyed some of the white wines too that they ordered. We all had a blast hanging out here. read more

So I came here with the Groupon deal which included 5 tastings, two souvenir glasses, cheese, crackers and meat platter. The woman who served us was so amazing. She even gave recommendations on some good farm stands nearby. The wines were really good! My favs ended up being the 2017 chardonnay and 2020 sauv blanc. I like Ospreys! I always come here whenever I am on a wine tour. This is my third time coming here, so I figured it's about time I made a review. The first two times that I've came have been in the summer time where it's hot and we were outside at their picnic tables. However, this time it was different. It was the winter time (January 2023) and although it was a nice day, it's still was chilly so we sat inside. It was nice to experience the vineyard in the winter as well. Upon being seated by the hostess, we were given menus of the different wine selections, as well as a place mat that held spaces where the wine tasting cups would go. For the tastings you have the option to do three tastings for $12 or five tastings for $18. We did the five tastings. We also purchased a few additional bottles for the table. There's a menu that has all of the different wine selection and the prices by the bottle. All of the wines that I had tasted were pretty good. I thoroughly enjoyed this wine tasting experience and will definitely be back again for sure. read more

Osprey's Dominion is a craft winery that opened in Peconic, New York in 1991. It was founded by friends Frederick "Bud" Koehler and Bill Tyree. Bud was one of the first vintners to settle on Long Island's North Fork. After retiring from a construction job in 1983, he purchased a 24-acre plot in Peconic. He dreamed of turning the land into a vineyard; at the time the North Fork only had three others. Today the area is home to more than 40 wineries and 3,000 acres of planted vineyards. Some of the grape varietals found in the area include Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Franc. Bud named his winery "Osprey's Dominion" because the area was home to the brown and grey birds. He later purchased an additional 16 acres and teamed up with his friend Bill. After purchasing another 50 acres, a production facility was built on the grounds and their first wine was bottled in 1991. A farmhouse on the property was restored and converted into a tasting room. Bill passed away in 2012 and Bud would follow in 2021. Today the head winemaker is Adam Suprenant. My wife and I visited Osprey's Dominion in October 2018. We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary on Long Island with a private limousine tour of the North Fork Wine Trail. Osprey's Dominion was our second stop of the day. The grounds were vast and beautiful! There was quite a crowd that day and we even spotted the North Fork Wine Wagon. Our tour group provided lunch for us: I had an Eggplant Wrap and my wife had a Greek Salad Wrap. We enjoyed our lunch with some wine flights: I sampled some reds and my wife sampled some whites. These were excellent wines! The tasting room was also impressive! We purchased bottles of the Cabernet Sauvignon, the Chardonnay, and the Spice Wine (which is meant to be served hot). We really enjoyed our experience at Osprey's Dominion and hope to return in the future! read more

I was immediately greeted by Mrs. Joy, she showed me how to redeem my Groupon selection; and I was singled out for choosing a Groupon voucher for my wine tasting. Michelle and Nancy also were welcoming of me and my girlfriend's wine tasting venture and recommended their favorites as well as what to expect with our selections.They serve you 5 variations of your choosing i.e. Merlots, Rieslings, and Roses'. I'm really surprised Ospreys doesn't have 4 stars or more! I came here 2 weekends ago and absolutely loved it! It's such a huge, great space and they utilize every inch of it so well. You can have parties here and even rent out grills to have a picnic! Loved that idea. It's a long drive coming from pretty much anywhere but it's well worth it. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. They have a table selling homemade jewelry and a table that sells the bottles of wine you tried and treats that include pretzels for dogs and GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!! Along with the usual North Fork staple potato chips. Some of these wineries out here are definitely missing out on selling good snacks. They have you covered here. They have a big menu with MANY wines. Lots to choose from with informative staff. I got the special wine reserve flight for $20. It came with their best 4 reds. The Meritage Flight 2014 was my least favorite out of the bunch but everything else was tasty. She also gave my brother and I two free tastings of some new wines they had. One was a sparkling one that was my favorite of the day. 2 pretty much full wine glass tastings for free. Can't beat that. The wines are good and pretty reasonable. They have seating indoors with free water stations and good music playing. Suggestion. Do your wine tasting indoors. Then they give you the wine in regular wine glasses. If you go outdoors to drink it, they'll give it to you in small, plastic cups. The outdoor area is HUGE with picnic tables, and all other kinds of seating. They also have a small outdoor bar that serves 2 types of beer. An IPA and another one and 2 homemade sangrias. One white and one red. I got the white for $10 in a nicely sized cup. I sipped on that while sitting at the edge of a hill next to the corn hole games. We sat there for hours on a HOT and sunny Saturday afternoon. Lost track of time and they had to throw us out. Very nicely, of course, with a recommendation of a place to go to have something to eat. Bathrooms are big and clean. Besides Kontacosta Winery, this is going to be another favorite of mine. Is it the best wine I've tried? No. Is it good wine? Absolutely. With a space like this and so many other things to buy other than wine, you really can't go wrong. Osprey is such a beautiful vineyard, there is always music and nice outdoor seating. This particular Sunday in May was too cold to sit outside so we went back inside to enjoy a wine flight and listen to music. A wine flight allows you to sample the various wines of the vineyard. Ospreys Dominion has award winning wines, one of the flight tasting was a Carmenere. Osprey is Long Island's only producer of Carmenere. It's a very woodsy and spicy wine, the grape originates from Chile. Our server was very knowledgeable. I like to get these guys talking so I ask him, if its a Chilean wine, should I be tasting minerals like limestone? He said the Carmenere is more earthy and woodsy, you'll taste things like cloves. We really enjoyed this place! Right now for tasting only three people can go in and the rest of the party can go outside to find seating. The outdoor seating is nice, low to the ground. Suggestion: get there early for seating in the shade! They have live music playing and an outdoor bar on the center of the yard. It seems like two huge tents, some can be reserved. Osprey is one of the North Fork's wine producing vineyards. Just under 100 acres in two different towns they began as grape growers and later became wine producers with their own label. On a good year with the right climate they will add the "reserve" label, so look for that. But I find generally wine is pretty good all around, and have picked it up for a nice summer day or bringing when visiting. read more

Ridiculous vineyard that I will never be back to. My friends and I just left here and we were watched like we were children the whole time. We brought some props for my friends 30th birthday and we had a styrofoam champagne bottle and one of the guys came up to us and said something about it. We explained it was fake. 2 minutes after when we sat down a different guy came up to us a literally ripped the bottle out of my hand and told us we have to put it back in the car. A nice, relaxed winery...very spacious tasting room, they have several sections set up for tastings to keep people apart and once you have your tray ready, you must take your tasting flight outside. Plenty of outdoor space but not a ton of picnic tables so I would suggest bringing your own lounge chairs or blanket. This way you can find a nice spot under a tree and enjoy! They also have a great Groupon deal available now for tastings and snacks for two or four people so take advantage of it. I really enjoyed their white wines. This is one of my favorite vineyards on the north folk. I'm a 40 something year old mom of gremlins that doesn't need fancy. I seek out a place I can have adult conversation with a nice glass of wine, without re-financing my mortgage and without worrying about my kids. Osprey delivers. They usually have live music (at least they have the past 3 times I've been there). The people that work here are amazing. I've never met an unfriendly person there. We went to this vineyard on a tour which included three different stops. This was our very first stop. We pulled up and someone got on the bus to explain the tastings. He was funny and succinct, and we were very excited to get off the bus and try out some wines. This was the ONLY tasting that we attended where we couldn't pick which wines we wanted to try. There was a preset list of four wines. Not only that, but the bartenders were fairly rude and condescending. One legitimately criticized us for not drinking fast enough and skipped ahead one wine before we asked her to go back. We had an hour at this stop and had been there for probably ten minutes when this happened. They served red and white wines in the same glass, which drove me nuts. At the other vineyards, they at least gave you the option to switch out the glassware after the tastings. At this place, they simply came over and poured your next glass without even greeting you. Most importantly, we didn't like any of the four wines we tried. My drinking partner stated that the fourth glass of wine was one of their least favorites of all time, which is a huge statement coming from someone who drank wine out of a plastic bag for most of their college career. This place reminded me of the type of place where lots of people go in the summer to drink heavily and not care about taste. If that's what you want, this is probably the perfect place for you. Otherwise, skip it. There are plenty of other vineyards in the area with better hospitality and better wine in general. read more

Probably one of my favorite vineyard on the north fork! I will say, the inside was not at all what I expected and it hurts me to say they could do sooo much better with the inside layout of their tasting room. Folding chairs and tables? Just no. But outside is incredible beautiful and casual. That being said I had such low expectations when we first walked in. We did a tasting and found a spot outside at the picnic tables. The wines were awesome! We stayed for more and bought a few bottles to go. We didn't have much time but if we had we'd definitely call this our regular hang out vineyard. read more

What a world of difference a weekday makes. My last visit to Osprey in 2013 was made memorable by a neighboring bachelorette party shattering a whole case of wine, but this time was a *lot* less destructive and a lot more enjoyable. My husband and I stopped in for a tasting on a rainy Tuesday and got paired up with the best staff member -- she was great to chat with and super honest about the wines (she steered me clear from choosing the sparkling wine as part of my tasting, and then still gave me a sip to prove her point.... it was pretty bad). The tasting room is huge and Osprey's allows guests to bring in their own picnics. We sampled 5 wines for $12 and bought a few bottles so they waived our tasting fee (so appreciated!) - not sure if that's the norm. Glad to have given this spot another chance! read more

One of my favorite go to. I moved to tennessee and came back here for a visit with family and had a Groupon. We left and realized on way home we didn't receive our glasses.
