We sat down and looked at the tasting choices and had a fairly easy time filling up our dance card with 5 selections. We had the place to ourselves at first, and spent time getting to know Perry, a woman whose family has owned the operation since 1974. She said most of the buildings date back from the mid 1859s. Entertainment was also provided by 20 chickens (17 hens and 3 roosters). The wines were wonderful and lovingly explained by Perry. We left with a red and a white, and a feeling that this had been a very special hour.

The vineyard has grown over the years with a new tasting room having been built including a patio and outdoor seating area. There is a good selection of wine with most having won awards for taste and quality. This is a family run business and one of the family is usually present for any questions. Joining the Wine Club is also an option for receiving a regular selection of wines throughout the year and the potential for discounts on purchases. The pictures that may be attached to this review are many years old from a previous post/review and are of the old building/tasting room. I choose not to remove them for nostalgia purposes. You will be able to see how the vineyard has grown over the years.

Their reds are outstanding and you can't believe this wine is coming from Long Island, you would swear it's coming from Italy. The outdoor setting is absolutely breathtaking, with beautiful vineyard views that make for a relaxing afternoon. However, one downside we noticed was that nearly every chair outside had bird droppings on them. It didn't seem like they were regularly cleaned, which took away from the otherwise stunning setting. On the bright side, the indoor space is just as welcoming-and even better, dogs are allowed inside! It's also worth noting that while they don't serve food, several guests brought their own snacks to enjoy with their wine, which seems to be encouraged.

Everywhere you look there is picture perfect scenery. There is a shop where you can purchase wine, candles and other locally sourced items. Although this space isn't typically used for events, the set up, service, and food was impressive. The way the food was presented, was perfect with the atmosphere. Everything was clean and the grounds including the parking lot were well maintained. Although I've never been here during normal operation, I will absolutely be back and will be sure to be recommending croteaux to others!
