I was served RAW chicken. I took two bites before I got to the inside part of the chicken. It was completely raw--still pink and barely warm. I have never been served raw chicken. To be honest, mistakes like this can happen but the response from the service team was extremely underwhelming. They told me the chef was new. Nobody seemed to understand the situation and how I may get food poisoning from this. I got comped the chicken parm but I barely touched it. No other accommodations were given other than them saying "we can cook your chicken more" and "do you want a chicken parm for free?" I just wanted to leave. Nobody from management even came to talk to me. Paid $60 for a meal where I got served raw chicken. I will not be going back and would avoid. I also never leave reviews but this was just dangerous for their customers. read more

When I was invited to try this restaurant I was so happy. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a super cute restaurant. I sat with my friend, and Philp was serving us along with others. They were excellent! I started with the vodka martini, and it was just ok. We then got a bunch of different plates. First time trying Osteria via Uber Eats and here's the best concise summary--I'm a huge fan. Finding a great Italian restaurant nowadays nearby me is a difficult feat. At least for me. Some are completely un-Italian but represent themselves as such. Some are Italian owned but become so artisnal that it makes me question the authenticity behind the cuisine. Granted foods across Italy's regions are so diverse with the North resembling dishes one might not recognize.. I'm an old school /traditional /Southern Italian aficionado when it comes to Italian food. Given my background, I'm just picky and can spot good Italian eats pretty easily. Tonight, Osteria joined that rank. There was nothing I didn't like about Osteria. If I could give more stars, I would. The menu had my head spinning---so many great selections--but I ultimately chose the Pasta with Seafood. I love this dish whether it's made with black linguini or just spaghetti. No two are made alike at any restaurant who serves it. Some include one or two varieties of seafood while others include more. The delivery from Osteria was right on time. When I unpacked the orders (twin meals), I observed the containers to be significantly heavy meaning generous portion. Indeed they were. The aroma was delightful. When I removed the lid, I immediately noticed mussels, little neck clams, calamari (cut in strips), and jumbo shrimp. There was so much seafood. The flavor, sauce, and medley of seafood was excellent. There was a slight kick to the sauce and I was blown away by the deliciousness of the meal. One thing I noticed-- lobster was supposed to be included as part of the seafood medley, but it was noticeably absent. That would be my only feedback/nitpick. I ordered this dish at many restaurants and the result was anything from average to very good. Osteria ranks #1 as the best I've had. I looked on Yelp and agreed with the reviews but more importantly , I am very eager to dine in next time just by viewing all the photos--mouthwatering meals with a charming, rustic ambience. Please note that I visited the outpost in Dekalb Market Hall. I visited this eatery after a long, hot summer day of shopping around the city and Brooklyn. I wasn't particularly hungry, but my friend had never tried rigatoni amatriciana and was intrigued, so I thought it would be fun to introduce her to a set of flavors that I knew to be pretty yummy. My order? Spaghetti alla carbonara. Before the mains came out, we were served a complementary set of cheese-topped bread and some kind of tomato and olive oil spread. It was tasty. My friend enjoyed her rigatoni, but note that she has no point of reference with which to compare the dish. The reason this place gets 4 stars (actually 3.5, but since that's not possible, I rounded up) is because I enjoyed my carbonara, but it was not a true carbonara. The flavors were good and the service was lovely, but my carbonara had partially cooked egg whites in it, which is a no-no. The first carbonara I ever ate was made by an Italian who was born and raised in Italy and is both passionate about and skillful at cooking, so my standards for this dish are extremely high. The egg yolks must be tempered so the sauce can be smooth and it is quite an involved process. The guanciale - though likely difficult to procure in NY - should be cubed and not look like bacon. The version from Osteria was made with lovely flavours, but the consistency of the sauce was oily and grainy, thus it was all wrong. The picture makes it looks scrumptious though, hey? read more

Fantastic. I love to say I come to NY for "real carbs" and it is always worth it! Quaint restaurant with very friendly staff. Menu was simple, not overdone with frills. I NEEDED this meal and was not to be disappointed. I knew the minute they rolled out the table with the wheel of cheese and set it ablaze, we were in for a treat. I ordered my favorite, cacio e pepe and my friend ordered the fettuccine osteria (red wine infused pasta) and WHOA...chef's kiss. Drinks were made perfectly, their bread was light and airy, not heavy or dense, and their staff was attentive and just nice - a rarety these days. I've been here twice, both times were good. I've enjoyed the Caesar salad, although it is massive (and also $26) as well as caprese (standard, basic), fritto misto (a good option for sharing, fried well), and an item I can't find on the menu anymore but it was a cross between a pizza and a pasta. The service is friendly, I wish they didn't have to wear those fedoras though, lol. It has a touristy vibe that just feels out of place for this neighborhood. There is that one spot that you dine at where you feel the vibe is perfect, the ambiance is perfect, the wine is perfect and the work of art food is perfect. Not because my best friend Paul recommended Osteria Brooklyn and was gracious enough to invite us for dinner twice. Not because we had to enjoy it because of his recommendation. Because we felt the warm hospitality and inviting atmosphere standing outside, gazing at the outdoor seating décor and eventually looking in before walking in. We love OB experience and returned to dine twice more with family. And it is a welcoming experience, greeted by smiling enthusiastic folks in the front. Hardly a wait for a table as we made reservations. Easy and genuine, neighborly conversation as we walk to the table and after we sit down with beautiful soft music in the background. There is an ease to peruse through the well crafted menu, to gaze at the impressive wine list. Of course the first time we deferred to Paul's selections approved by not only the staff but by Chef Raffaele, who is right there, beaming smile and all, making sure everything for us is perfect. We had dined at Osteria Brooklyn four times over the past two years. We ordered the same bottle of wine on two occasions, Cannonau Di Sardegna Riserva, pictured below. Our favorites feasted upon are Grilled Calamari, Salumeria Grande (Charcuterie & Cheeses "Large or Small" Prosciutto di Parma, Speck, Mortadella, Soppressata Parmigiano, Pecorino, Grapes and Walnuts), Fritto Misto (Fried Calamari, Shrimp & Zucchini), Branzino Al Forno (with Artichoke and Roasted Potatoes), Malloreddus (Sardinian Pasta with Sausage & Ricotta) Risotto ai Frutti Di Mare (Shrimp, Scallops, Clams, Mussels, Calamari) and Linguini Alle Vongolle (Linguine, White Clam Sauce, Parsley). It's just a regular restaurant. I mean for a $25+ pasta place in Brooklyn, yes I was expecting some fancyness. I didn't get pasta and maybe that would have changed my opinion. But I got the Carbonara pizza, & it was not good. They put an egg in the center & idk if it was supposed to be cold but the execution was not there. I found it also weird that when I asked for the dessert menu, the server couldn't tell me by memorization. Instead it was a whole ordeal and they needed to get the dessert platter to go through 5 desserts. Net, net, they couldn't tell me before I ordered my meal. So odd. We went here for Valentine's Day and had the 4 course meal. It included a bottle of champagne. It felt intimate and nice. The manager gave each couple a rose. I went to lunch with my fiancé at 12 noon as I had to work later that day. For starters we had the crudo. It was very good. It brought oysters, a seafood salad, caviar with some other seafood I wasn't sure about. For my second dish I had a prosciutto wrapped mozzarella with fig sauce it was absolutely delicious. My fiancé had fried oysters which were also amazing. I would definitely order both of those again. For our main dishes we both ordered the salmon and which was really good all the way up to the sauce. The desert was amazing I had the chocolate cake, I forget the name. By this point I couldn't see another piece of food I was stuffed. My fiancé had the chocolate Nutella mousse I believe. The manager and waiters were amazing. Irrelevant fun fact about me. I love Italian food but I don't love the price tag. As a result I will only eat Italian food once a year at a restaurant. I can't justify $25-$30 for a plate of pasta. So what do I do? I ring up a tab of $51 for Italian desserts. The drink was so strong. I was thinking it would be a cute fruity drink. Then boom you are slapped in the face with strong liquor. The tiramisu had strong coffee flavor with a hint of alcohol. Reminded me of the tiramisu I ate in Italy. Lastly the chocolate dessert was so cute! Hard chocolate shell, with icecream over cake. Food was amazing but the service was slow on Valentine's Day. Reservation 730pm - left around 10:30pm I loved the jazz playlist they had on - i kept on Shazamming the music. We were seated in the garden - I'm super grateful for the heaters. The waitress that we started off with was swamped and not attentive to updating us on our orders, refilling our waters or champagne. However, the waitress that we ended up with was amazing in getting our orders out. I tried the blood red orange drink at first but it was super bitter so I switched to The Navy Yard which was smooth sweet and tasted so delicious. The lobster bisque (once reheated) was one of my favorite parts of the meal. I was pleasantly surprised about the scallops. It tasted like sushi with a sauce similar to soy sauce. Overall we had a romantic night and I really enjoyed the osteria fettuccine dish with the truffle shavings. I am going to try to come back on a day that is not a Hallmark holiday. read more

This is a fairly new establishment only a few blocks from where I live and I have been wanting to try it ever since. I finally went with a friend for brunch. I love their outdoor dining concept: A spacious glass house with colorful flowers all over, wooden tables, red cushion chairs, little lights from the ceiling, with yellow and green exterior. It was simply gorgeous, but even though we were in an enclosed space, there wasn't much heat throughout. I think the addition of heat lamps would be a huge help, especially as we go deeper into winter. I was prepared to order the Osteria Steak & Eggs, but when I found out that the dinner menu was also being served, I decided to go that route. I was trying to choose between the Ossobuco Pappardelle and Back Ribs with fries. I finally went with the Ossobuco ($29), because it seemed more unique. Shortly after ordering, we were served an amazing complimentary bread basket, which also came with 3 different sauces. The bread included corn bread in the shape of a mini muffin, panettone-like bread, and a brown colored bread that looked like a brownie. All of them were so good, that I couldn't pick a favorite. Each piece of bread was wonderfully moist and very tasty. As for the sauces, one resembled butter, another was a sweet fruity jam, and the last was savory roasted pepper, which I didn't care for. My Ossobuco Pappardelle entrée was quite impressive and a generous portion. The pork shank was covered in red sauce with onion, peppers, and celery, as well as a sprinkling of parmesan. Underneath was a lovely bed of pappardelle pasta. However, the ricotta was missing. Our server did not offer fresh pepper or parmesan, which is an oversight at an Italian restaurant, especially when pasta is ordered. The pork shank was pretty good, and had some decent seasoning, but I think it could have been more flavorful. The meat was quite tender though, as well as nice and juicy. The pappardelle was perfectly cooked and I actually enjoyed the red sauce. There was a display of all the desserts, which was great because I am a visual person. I knew I wanted the Veneziana Meringue Cake ($12), with Chantilly cream. This piece of cake was absolutely beautiful, with irresistible looking velvety clouds on top, delightfully soft cake with smooth cream in between, along with sweet syrup drizzled below and a sprinkling of powdered sugar. The taste was divine and the dessert simply melted in my mouth. Service was friendly, but it took awhile for our waiter to bring the check over. Prices were on the expensive side, but I would return to try the Back Ribs. read more

Four stars for the bread basket and ambiance. Three Point five stars for the entree and value. A friend wanted to come here for brunch the other week and I hesitantly came. I'm not big for spending a large amount of money on brunch unless drinks are included, there's some kind of special, or the food really blows me away. Pluses- the outside villas that are constructed for covid blew me away with how beautiful they stand in the streets. They also have fun plastic replicas of there entire desert menu hanging out on display. Minuses - there are quite a few. The huts are still cold. The doors need to be opened to allow air circulation flowing in and out if there is more than one or two tables inside. The area isn't really too well heated. Most places are finding this difficult as the New York weather is plunging below 40 now. Drinks are expensive - Italian sodas & juices - $6, cocktails $14-16. Definitely skipped that part. Entrees - also fairly pricey for brunch. An order of basic Cacio e Pepe was $20. Fairly small portion size in over-sized plates don't help. My friend's pork shank pappardelle while it looked substantially better was closer to $30 and she said kind of bland and missing the dollop of ricotta. They also never asked if we wanted black pepper or parmesan which is pretty standard with pasta so I just ate it as is. The best thing here - their complimentary bread basket. That was the cherry on the sundae. The cream on my pie. The ice cream on my - you get the picture. They give a serving of something that resembles a chocolate brownie, a piece of corn bread, and something similar to panettone bread with accompanying sauces that the waiter nor server explained. But I figured out one was possibly a guava like jam, another a whipped ricotta spread, and the third a roasted red pepper mixture. Really delightful. My friend wanted a slab of their infamous meringue cake. I tried a bite of it and while it's not my particular cup of tea desert wise, it was very tasty. I would say, if you are looking to splurge, it's not a bad place to go but expect high prices for just decent food. Love this restaurant always go here with family and friends. The servers are pretty nice and attentive. I really like to get the truffle pasta as well as the cacio e pepe. I recommend those because the servers make them in cheese barrels so it's totally worth it and delicious. To be honest everything is really good here and even the drinks! I'm good friends with the chef Rafael and he has been working in the restaurant industry for a while. But even though I am friends with him this is my honest review. I came here for dinner after a long day out. The ambiance was cozy and cute... emphasis on the cozy. The space is a bit tight and when I got up I was worried I would hit the patrons dining behind me. The service was choppy not the best, I felt myself constantly having to look for my server, which isn't the best feeling when you want to just enjoy your dinner or order a drink. I didn't love the tight space nor the service which is why I gave it 4 stars. However, the food was delicious the bread they set out for you is quite tasty and holds you off until your food is out. I ordered the Gnocchi di Ricotta al Tartufo as my main dish and ordered a Motocicletta for my drink. The gnocchi was very filling. The flavors were extremely rich and you could really taste the truffles. The drink was strong and delectable, I could really taste the passion fruit. Overall the food is delicious and I can see why the Gnocchi di Ricotta al Tartufo is such a popular dish. I will be back, I just hope the service will improve. read more

The service staff and manager were both very polite; however, a majority of the food and drinks were below average. Let's start with the one thing we really enjoyed- the starter bread and sauce were delicious! Drinks took about 15 minutes to get to the table after we were seated. We tried about 3 cocktails each, and were disappointed with each. The balance of alcohol to mixers was just not good. The cocktails do not taste like they were made by a professional bartender. We started with the melon prosciutto, it was okay. It was room temperature which I wasn't expecting. The meatball pizza was okay. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't terrible. Definitely not worth the price. My boyfriend got the pappardelle and ossobuco with lamb. The pappardelle was very thick. Thicker than any pappardelle we have gotten at any other restaurant. If you're making the trek to Brooklyn from Long Island, then you will appreciate the welcoming and accommodating staff, the yummy food and the fun vibe. We were here on a Sunday afternoon so traffic wasn't too horrible and we were able to find relatively close parking. They have a nice brunch menu, we got a basket of baked goods with a trio of spreads, a spicy jam, ricotta and eggplant. The combination of the spicy Jam and ricotta on a croissant was perfect! Of course our group went straight for the regular menu. We tried so much in the menu as we were with a large group and one person ordered a bunch of dishes for all of us to be shared. Lathered in diced, smashed avocado, tomatoes and diced shrimp served with chips. It was good but again we thought of ceviche that was more delicate and light. This dish was really heavy and creamy, would not order again. We also got the frito misto which imho is tough to mess up. Thought this was fine, not anything to rave about. Main meal: Ribeye steak, which was slightly over cooked on the medium well side. We asked for medium rare. The meat was not seasoned. However all the things the meat was drowning in was overly salty. The potatoes, mushrooms was so overwhelming. Wouldn't order this again. Seems like they are trying to pull people through Instagram and have the atmosphere trend on TikTok or other social platforms by inviting "influencers". When we first arrived for our reservation for 5, staff seemed lost. Table also wasn't ready and after they put them together, noone directed us to sit and it was alot of blank stares. Strange. During the course of the meal, some requests took several asks. Main course took 1-1.5 hours to arrive while other tables that arrived after us were already eating theirs and we were still on empty appetizer dishes. Pasta itself was well flavored but certainly nowhere near al dente and some were overcooked almost to the point of mushiness. I was very surprised given the high reviews so maybe it was an off day.
